Is it just to have him kick another legendary veteran's skull in? Are they simply killing time until Orton goes into the main title picture? (Or until HHH squashes him again, if you're so inclined.) Getting Cody TV time hardly seems like something that would be an important goal. I can't figure out what the point of this entire angle is.

To introduce Cody Rhodes. He is what WWE consider a top-level prospect.

They should've just had Orton give Dusty a "con-chair-to" on RAW and skipped ahead to the Cody v.s. Randy match.
No one needs to see Dusty in the ring with Orton. Haven't we been through enough this year?

I saw Dusty vs Kid Kash live two years ago. It was the slowest match I've ever seen.

Funny you should ask: So they can set up the Dusty/Cody vs Cowboy Bob/Randy tag match at Summer Slam!

PWinsider says they want to do Orton/Cody at Summerslam. So, I'm guessing Orton does Dusty a lot of damage at GAB and Cody has to avenge his dad.

Yeah, this doesn't seem to be anything more than a way to set up Orton/Cody at Summerslam or somewhere down the line. And I'm curious enough to want to see it. The Cody match I mean, not the Dusty match.
But credit to WWE for this, they weren't stupid enough to let Dusty have a regular one on one match which would be pretty freaking terrible. In this bullrope match they can do any number of things to make it work. I dare say this could be a surprisingly entertaining fight.

MGH really hit it on the head. this is something that would make me wanna buy the ppv.

I'm predicting a Summerslam tag between Orton/Cody vs. Dusty/Goldust.

The only wya Dusty/Orton will be good is if 95% of the time it's Orton kicking Dusty's ass.
Seriously, this should be a Rocky IV scenario with Dusty as Apollo creed and Cody as rocky.

I'm predicting a Summerslam tag between Orton/Cody vs. Dusty/Goldust. Took my idea in a different direction, but I like it.

But the answer to the question: the purpose is to put Orton over as a heel.

But the answer to the question: the purpose is to put Orton over as a heel. Seriously. First we want build up for feuds. Then we want a PPV every Monday and Friday. Then the PPVs mean nothing. Now we want...

But the answer to the question: the purpose is to put Orton over as a heel. Maybe I'm clueless, but I thought he was pretty over already. If concussing Shawn and RVD, two guys the crowds actually know and care about, didn't get him over, then beating up on a guy who most of the people in the crowds had never seen before the McMahon tribute RAW in Dusty sure isn't going to do it.

Between this and Batistia/Khali this is turning into a guilty pleasure PPV. Cause god help me I am looking forward to both these matches. Also I agree that having this be a bullrope match could cover up a lot of flaws.
