I don't know if this has been mentioned yet, but how do you think the marks who literally grieved over the "death" of Mr. McMahon are reacting to this?

Wrestlers in Doc Charges Named
Posted Jul 5th 2007 2:51PM by TMZ Staff Filed under: Celebrity Justice
TMZ has learned that current WWE SmackDown wrestler Rey Mysterio (real name: Oscar Gutierrez) and former WWE wrestler Mark Jindrak, are the two other wrestlers named in an indictment against the physician currently involved in the Chris Benoit double murder/suicide investigation.
The masked Mysterio is one of the WWE's top talents and a big fan favorite. Jindrak, who resides in Atlanta, was released by the WWE in 2005.
When asked, a WWE spokesperson told TMZ that "we cannot comment on this ongoing investigation at this time."

Is there anyone who can put all the links to all the TV appearances in one post? I watched the Warrior one earlier, and just finished the Mero/Blackman one (Marc Mero is actually much more well-spoken than I remember, and he came across very well, IMO) but I haven't been able to find the others. Granted, I missed several of the earlier Benoit threads, but if someone has all the previous links, I would appreciate it. Thanks.

Just type in "chris benoit" followed buy who you are looking for.

No, the fact that 3 lives are lost can not change. BUT, I always go back to a story my grandfather told me about his time as a tail gunner in World War II. His commander was getting them ready for a mission and sent them off with this line: "a mans life is temporary, but a mans legacy is forever". If theres ANYTHING that could fix the legacy of Chris Benoit, I would be happy. I wake up every morning praying that there's going to be a press conference where the cops say "You know what, we got it wrong. We caught the bastard that did this." But I know that life isn't like an episode of Law & Order: SVU. They're not going to suddenly discover in Act 3 that they've been chasing the wrong guy all along. I wish to God that I could salvage my memory of being at Madison Square Garden and seeing the guy who was everything I believed a professional wrestler should be finally win the big one. But, to quote Don Henley, those days are gone forever and I should just let 'em go.

As noted previously, Chris Benoit’s was becoming more paranoid about being followed, getting a pay cut, and even losing his job, even though the general belief is that Benoit had a job for life in WWE, even after his wrestling days were over.
- Benoit’s paranoia had resulted in him increasing and mixing steroids, pain killers, anti-depressants (Dr. Phil Astin had just prescribed him Zoloft on Friday, although it takes several weeks to start working), and high blood pressure medication.
- At one time, Benoit saw potential in Tough Enough winner Daniel Puder and offered to make him his personal protégé, but Benoit had found out that due to his $250,000 per contract, the WWE has going to cut him.
- Benoit’s out of context “I love you” text message was likely sent to either Chavo Guerrero or Dean Malenko.

Click on the article above if you wanna get slammed with pop ups. Oops, sorry about that. I'm just going to post it here: www.pwtorch.com/artman/publish/article_20848.shtmlFox News Channel reports this afternoon on Chris Benoit's mother wishing investigators acted more quickly on information that her late son was buying massive quantities of steroids. The anchor asked a criminal defense attorney, Geoffrey Nathan, about the mother's statement. He said federal law enforcement may have looked the other way because they are hesitant to ruffle the feathers of big-time athletes. Arthur Aidala, a former prosecutor, said there will be more investigation into Benoit's doctor, Dr. Astin. "He's a drug dealer who had permission to sign his name to a prescription," he said. The anchor noted that the doctor is at risk of charges of manslaughter. The prosecutor said it could be tough to go that far, but definitely he's on the hook for potential drug distribution charges. Nathan said there are many doctors sending lengthy prison terms for negligent and criminal prescriptions. The anchor asked about the complicity of Vince McMahon. "If he ran a fraudulent drug testing operation - they claim that Benoit in April tested negative for steroids - if that was a negative drug testing operation and McMahon creates this culture that encourages the usage of anabolic steroids, could WWE be liable." Aidala said: "Absolutely. They are covering their tracks as we speak. They're retracting prior statements that they made... They know they're in some trouble and their backs are against the wall. McMahon is a shrewd guy and he's going to do everything he can to protect himself and his enterprise." WK ANALYSIS: Interesting segment to see the phrases "fraudulent drug testing operation" and "culture that encourages steroids" come out of an anchor's mouth. The mainstream media is starting to ask the right questions. There aren't easy answers, but if the curiosity is there to work hard to seek answers to those questions, WWE has a lot of explaining to do. WWE is used to operating under the radar of usual media scrutiny, and getting away with vague statements that sound passable until the mainstream media moves on to the next story. The way new developments are coming forth every day, this story remains on the radar and part of the news cycle to the mainstream reporters - who have so many subjects to learn about, they can't possibly know which questions to ask or who has credibility within three days of covering this story - now have been with story long enough that they're catching on to how WWE's p.r. machine operates.

Interesting. If they tried to bring steroid charges against McMahon, would that be considered double jeopardy?

Lol @ Debra saying she was punched on by a "500 pound man", which I assume she meant Austin. Guess she was hanging out with Hogan before she went on Fox News.
And I didn't know Benoit was on the cover of People Magazine, wow that is a lot of unwanted publicity. I'm sure Vince wanted to have his wrestlers have that honor, but unfortunately it's under the wrong circumstances.

Now that I'm over Chris Benoit being gone, I can get depressed all over again about how the media has handled this. If our country weren't full of so many uninformed yokels, don't you think that the mainscream media would be out of business by now?

Is it just me, or does it seem like the media smurfing looooves this story? Especially Fox News. Of course they love this story, they get to go after pro wrestling which is what they have always wanted to do. But in the end, there will be some major changes to the wrestling world, which I welcome the changes. Just sad that it took a popular wrestler committing double murder and suicide to cause it.

This is my first post on the Wrestlecrap forum in about a year or so now. I wish I could have returned under better circumstances. I want to post because I know here I can say my thoughts and views on the Benoit situation without being attacked or sparking bad debates unlike other forums.
I loved Benoit, I absolutely did. He was one of my favorite wrestlers for almost a decade now and became my favorite after his jump to the WWF in 2000. It was mostly motivated by the fact he was from Edmonton, my hometown and where I live today. But the amount of skill, determination and effort he put into all of his matches is why I loved him, not because of residency.
It's funny the last thing I disliked about Benoit was him being hailed from Atlanta rather than Edmonton. They were to do a show here in Edmonton in July, the first one with Benoit since Backlash 2004. At the time I was wondering if they were going to hail him from Atlanta and if they did, I could only imagine the boo-ing. This is the last thing I remember thinking about him before the tragedy.
I don't know what to think anymore, how do you react when your idol goes insane one weekend and murders his family and takes his life? Even worse, a man you idolized for his leadership and determination having all these serious issues. I won't name problems in particular because I don't want to say something before the facts come out. What he did was unforgivable but at the same time, I just want to know why. Why did he do this? What were the problems that drove him to this madness?
I hope this doesn't lead to censorship by the WWE as they digitally erase Benoit from all his classic matches. Yes, it will be surreal to see him and Kurt Angle tear up the ring at Royal Rumble 2003 because of recent events. But, at the same time, what is in the past is what happened and the same can be said for the tragedy. We just cannot cover it up, cover our ears and close our eyes going "la-la-la" hoping it will make us forget it and be happy. Let us take this tragedy in, let us find our emotions and learn how to deal with it. Even though I was driven to near-tears by the news, I took it all in and managed to mentally condition myself to accept these events. It is a tragedy and an atrocity at the same time, that's all that I can say.
I really, really hope the wrestling world changes a bit because of this. Have an off-season, schedule more vacations, hire psychiatrists, whatever...I just don't want to see any more lives lost. I'll continue to watch wrestling and be a fan, but I'll never forget this moment.
Someone on another forum put it best: "This is supposed to be a sport where everyone pretends to beat each other up...why is it the most tragic of all of them?"
