Cena injured on Monday Night Raw Written: October 2, 2007 CLEVELAND – “No matter how serious the injury, one way or another I’ll be ready to compete on Sunday.” – John Cena in the locker room after Raw During his match with Mr. Kennedy Monday night at Raw, WWE Champion John Cena was injured. As Randy Orton attacked Cena after the match, Jim Ross commented on The Champ's condition. "It looked like Cena was injured earlier - his shoulder - against Mr. Kennedy," Ross said on the air. If Cena was hurt, the injury was undoubtedly worsened by Orton’s brutal attack, which included two RKOs and an assault with steel ring steps. The extent of The Champ’s injury is unknown. As a precaution, Cena headed to Birmingham, Ala. Monday night to be evaluated by Dr. James Andrews. Stay with WWE.com for further updates on Cena’s condition as they become available. This makes me think it's at least a little bit of a work. They've leaked stuff on purpose before to promote. If you see Orton would the shoulder pretty much at all in the match, you know I called it.

I'm kinda suprised he lasted all these years without any serious injuries while our favorite stars keep on getting hurt.

I won't be shocked to see Cena wrestle either way. Don't forget Undertaker back in April. He gutted it out on essentially one arm to have 2 final matches with Batista before he bowed out to have his surgery. Wouldn't be shocked if this turned out to be the same deal. If there is ANY way he can tough it out and go, I bet he will.

I want Cena to hit the 400 day mark at this point, then drop it to a main eventer who's NOT on Raw. Doubtful for both, but I can dream.

That's happened what, 3 times in the last 3 years? Twice this year alone; Taker and Edge. You can also add in stuff like RVD's drug bust and Morrison's suspension to the pile of "champs losing their titles for reasons other than booking." Doesn't seem that often (this year has been bad but, 5 times in the last 21 World Title Changes) and the Morrison/RVD ones were great by me as they bored me. Just going off this year though I see what you mean.

If there is ANY way he can tough it out and go, I bet he will. I can see him going for the LMS match if he is hurt bad but, no more. With him being the WWE's cash cow and not having a major break since he debuted 5 years ago I could see them setting him down to be on the safe side.

I hope he beats Orton and vacates the belt the next night...just to make sure that bird rapist can't get his feathery hands on it.

PWI is stating (so it has to be true) that it looks to be a pectoral tear. And after just watching the video on WWE you can see him favoring the right side of his chest/arm area so it could be true.

How did he wrestle all these years without getting hurt? Look at the way the man works a match. He works super-super-WWE safe style. Throws punches that don't look like punches and hops and skips into the turnbuckle. It's why people are always badmouthing his matches here.
I don't wish anybody any harm either, but I'm not looking forward to Orton with the belt. The guy's like Batista, evergreen. If they do put the strap on him, this time, they have to, have to keep him as a heel. His babyface title run was seven shades of crap.

He is forced to vacate by Vince or Regal, Orton claims the title since he did the damage, Kennedy objects since he caused the injury and Hornswoggle makes a title tournament ending at Survivor Series with Trips vs. Orton for the belt.
