One of the top five performers in ring in the WWE right now. Unfortunately, he's kind of been neutered on the mic, but he's worked around that to be enjoyable. All in all, he's not living up to his full potential, and he's not the best guy in the company, but he's definetly better than most of the guys with a WWE contract.

I wonder what would happen if he got as much mic time as Mr. Kennedy.

I LOVED him before he got called up. Now, I just like him. It's his entire ECW gimmick that pisses me off. They mention he's straight edge but they don't give any explanations why or let him do awesome promos. The fact that they're trying to make him look like a MMA guy is pathetic.

Just a thought, Who exactly are those people that have labeled him the "Best Thing Ever"? Can someone give me examples? Answer: They can't. I've never seen anyone talk up Punk as the Almighty a quarter as much as his detractors like to make it out. Maybe they just need to grasp at straws and come up with reasons to dislike him because he made a name for himself on the indies, and as we know all indies = SMARK SMARKETY IWC SMARKA SMARK. That won't stop said detractors from saying again and again when his name comes up, however. Ever since Punk showed up in ECW alot of people on this board were all Punk all the time. If you notice some of the post on this thread saying that the IWC built him up too much for any wrestler to live up to. On sites such as World Wrestling Insainty and pro wrestling.com he has been called "The internets Golden Boy". Me, I could care less where he made his name. I'm not a smark or mark, I'm a wrestking fan who just gave his opinion on a subject.

I like Punk, he has an easygoing coolness about him. Also, he works good to better than good matches and would really benefit from more mic time. And he's pretty young. What else should WWE do? They're bringing him along.
He's not as good as some say, not as bad as others. Same as always.

I think that when he's allowed to have matches that last longer than 10 mins in the WWE, he'll really start to shine. This might be me just buying into the over-hyping from the IWC, but I think he’ll really replace one of the big names when the current set of main-eventers retire. He's also the best looking guy in the E right now. Fact.

The man is very, very talented. Is he overated? Yes but from no fault of his own. Is he living up to his potential? Not yet but what some of us forget is Punk has been on the main roster for a little over a year and he has already done more than tons and tons of wrestlers have done in their first year and that is 1. have marketable merchandice, 2. get over, and 3. Win a championship. He is also 28 years old (soon to be 29) and he has years left in him. He has the mic skills, the wrestling ability, the fanbase, the charisma...everything to be HUGE. I fully believe that he will overpass Cena as being a draw. Whether it be heel or face I believe that he along with the likes of MVP, Kennedy, and Matt Hardy that he will be one of the top main-eventers down the line when guys like HBK, HHH, Batista, and Taker hang up the boots.

His promos, when unscripted, are solid. He has a good look, although other stars have better looks. He's not so good on short TV matches- they tend to be rather repetitive IMO, but on the longer 15+ minute matches, he's very good. Certainly overrated, but still a good talent and has real future potential. Agree on all points. He has definitely become more entertaining since ECW has been booking him in longer matches. I was very meh on his repetitive, 5-minute matches with the repetitive commentary. But now that he is established we get to see him really work and do much more varied matches and without Taz constantly pimping his jiujitsu, Muay Thai, straight edge"only addiction is competition" schtick.

i like cm punk he is extreme and ecw is all about extreme so the most of the guys should be the champion. i dont like big daddy v as he is not extreme and should be working in circus giving kids rides for fifty cents.
cm punk will be the first ever ecw champion to won at the royal rumble mark my words and thats the bottom line!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
