Vince on WCW TV

Hall coming out on Nitro. I knew that Hall and Nash may have signed with WCW but how they introduced them was shocking and exciting at the same time. Hogan joining the NWO. I was absolutely suprised by this happening. I couldn't believe that Hogan was the one to kill Hulkamania himself instead of the numerous heels who tried before. And his promo where he transforms into Hollywood Hogan was shocking and may be the greatest interview of all time. Sting appearing at the end of Uncensored '97. I went nuts when he came down from the top of the building and attacked the NWO. I couldn't believe it when I saw it. The Fingerpoke of Doom. I was shocked and enraged by it when it happened and I have never forgotten it. Vince on WCW. I knew that WWE had bought the company but it was still a shock to see Vince at the beginning of the last Nitro. Flair returning to WWE. I knew that Flair was supposed to return to the WWE but his return still surprised me and I marked out when he said the he and Vince were partners. Angle to TNA. I didn't know anything about at all because everyone involved did a great job with keeping it a secret. When I saw Angle on the screen at the TNA ppv I was absolutely stunned. Rock's WMXXIII promo. I didn't recognize his voice until he said "Finally, the Rock...". I absolutely went nuts when I realized it was the Rock. Owen/Eddie/Benoit deaths. When I heard JR say that Owen had died, I was shocked and was in that state for some time afterwords. I didn't know anything about the deaths of Eddie and Benoit until the shows began and I couldn't believe what I was seeing. And when I first heard about the murder/suicide aspects of the Benoit tragedy I was shocked and screamed out loud in shock. Sadly, I think that WWE can't really shock me anymore except when performers die suddenly.

When Morrison won the belt. I was shocked and angry as hell. One of my buddies was so appalled and shocked that he exclaimed "NANCY HAD BETTER BE DEAD FOR HIM TO MISS THIS!" When I saw he wasn't there and heard it was for "personal issues" I said to my dad "well he better be near death to be missing this". I felt sick the next evening around 5:00 when I went to WWE.com and saw the pic of Benoit with 19??-2007 below it. I just sat at my desk and stared at that pic for about 20 minutes before finally clicking the link to read about it. That whole night was hell. As far as positive suprises it would have to be Hogan joining the nWo. I was young then and it blew my mind.

I'd have to say its the entire Benoit situation, between coming home and finding out he was killed (Which sent me into a fit of tears and rage that saw me punch my wall until my hands were a bloody mess), then suffering through the tribute RAW and then finding the headline on WWE.com at 11 PM "MURDER SUICIDE". Same here. I had heard nothing of it, had just tuned in to expect to see something on the McMahon limo explosion...and saw the graphic. I literally screamed NO! when I saw it. I was a wreck for the next week. When I had talked to HBKitty, she was the first one who had told me it could have been a murder/suicide. I'm still trying to get over the whole thing.

I forgot to mention the birth of Hollywood Hogan. No matter how many times I watch that, I am still shocked that the fans didn't riot and kill Hogan themselves. It took me a couple of years to make sense of it, which is strange because by this time, I had stopped acknowledging kayfabe for about a year.

Some have already been mentioned...
- Andre winning the title off Hogan at TME. - Hogan turning heel/nWo. - Honky shoving Liz down. - Finding out Warrior beat Hogan (still stings me). - Jake slapping Liz
I guess if I had to pick one, I'd go with Andre beating Hogan. I was a teenager by the time Hogan turned, so it wasn't as shocking to me as it would have been if it happened in the 80's or early 90's. I loved Elizabeth growing up, so any time she was hit, it was a big deal.

When I first saw the weedwhacker spot in CZW, I was like no way they gonna do this, then Wifebeater hit Mondo with the weedwhacker and I was like WTF?
Besides that the Benoit situation, I don't think I have to explain why.

The snake biting Macho Man. Jake the Snake burying the Ultimate Warrior alive, starting his "Trust Me" gimmick (yeah, I was a kid). Papa Shango putting a curse on the Ultimate Warrior, causing him to blow chunks. Sgt. Slaughter receiving his boots from Saddam Hussein. Shawn Michaels superkicking Marty Janetty through the Barber Shop window Hogan joins the nWo. Vince on Nitro simulcast. Bischoff on RAW.
Looking back, a lot of those seem silly now, but were shocking (to me at least) back in the day.
Edit: The Mountie winning the Intercontinental championship from Bret Hart at a house show was also shocking to me

- Honky shoving Liz down. Liz going to the back in tears and then bringing Hogan out to clear Honky and The Hart Foundation from the ring seals that deal as one of the great SNME shocks...one of my favorite moments ever.

"Rey... Eddie's in hell!" Nahh. That was just cheap heat IMO. With WWE creative the past few years it was almost predictable. I agree that it was cheap heat, but my parents were over for dinner that night and when my Mother heard RKO scream that, her jaw dropped. The look she shot at me made me feel embarrassed to be a wrestling fan.

Bishoff on RAW
I remember it being the usual RAW blah blah blah, Booker T doing his promo then all of a sudden the camera turns and there's Bishoff. My jaw was to the floor.
And naturally, Owen/Eddie/Benoit.

The montreal screwjob was it for me. Really bizzare at the time I was 11 and it really shook me. I was a big fan of HBK but boy did that confuse the crap out of me. All the stuff about him clocking Vince and Him the next night saying Bret screwed Bret, then DX bringing out the Bret midgit showed the WWF meant they were playin for keeps.

I knew that Vince bought WCW, but to see his face show up as the first thing on the final nitro is just surreal.
And when they announced "New GM on raw" and then we saw the Booker T interview....... DAMN. NEVER in a trillion years thought we'd see that.
