Listening to the special 15th anniversary "Around the Ring", and Cole starts with "RAW is the longest running episodic TV show, beating out MASH, CHeers, and The Simpsons". Now, I could be wrong, and maybe he's talking about number of episodes, in which case he's technically right, BUT...if RAW began on 1/11/1993 with its debut episode, and the Simpsons started in December of 89, does that mean Cole has learned new math?

Maybe Michael Cole comes from the future where The Simpsons finally got cancelled.

He's learned Vincematics, where 78,000=93,000.

Cole is technically right. RAW has been making original content since it's debut back in '93 without breaks in between. The Simpsons have less episodes due to seasonal breaks.

And yet the simpsons still get good ratings, and in my view, even though there aren't that great anymore, there quality is still far superior to WWE programing

When Cole said "the longest running episodic show", he MEANT that Raw has produced more episodes than any other entertainment show, such as The Simpsons or MASH. However, the way he phrased it was that it had been on the air longer than any other show like that, which is incorrect. So he did in fact misspeak.
Either way, he's wrong. Most soap operas have been on far longer than Raw and have produced thousands of more episodes.

That is usually how it is phrased to exclude shows that are on 4-7 times a week like soap operas and talk shows.

He could have just been reading from a sheet that a writer, or someone from Stamford gave him.

I never minded when he was doing the backstage announcing. I never cared much for his ringside announcing though. I think with some good searching the WWE could find a new announcer out there somewhere just ready to get his feet wet.

As far as cable shows go, they usually do a damn fine job. I mean, their presence on USA boosted the station's ratings for a reason.
