Find out on Tuesday when it is officially released. You're thinking of the WCCW dvd. AWA one came out a while ago

The documentary is great. I found some of the matches to be kinda boring but there are other matches that are fantastic.

They ignore a lot of the years of the AWA, but I really enjoyed it as a whole. There are some great stories and commentary from people like Bockwinkel, Larry Hennig, and even Bischoff.

Find out on Tuesday when it is officially released. He said AWA. Not WCCW. Anyway, I liked it. Nothing too impressive, just kind of run of the mill. If you're a fan of wrestling history, though, you'll like it. It does show what a mark the AWA made, and just how many stars came out of there. The matches are for the most part just clips, so that part sucks.

I was kinda hoping to pick this up this week, but couldn't find it. Anyone got a full listing for it, or know the whereabouts of one? Where's the best plkace online to buy wrestling dvds? Especially old NWA stuff. Though, I bought one of their albums, and I weas outraged by some of the content! Dusty and Ric Flair as I've never heard them!

Yeah, the documentary is excellent (barring a few instances of WWE revisionism - but that's to be expected). The extras on disc one are also terrific, with lots of guys like Bockwinkel and Von Raschke telling some great road stories.
The match selection, however, does fall a little short. They leave out a lot of important stuff, and a lot of the stuff they do include is heavily clipped. All in all, it's still worth a purchase though.

As far as the matches go, there's a good Midnight Rockers match, a good Curt Hennig/Bockwinkel match, a pretty fun Hogan/Bockwinkel match, and a pretty interesting and entertaining Lawler/Von Erich match.

Be warned that most of the matches are clipped. I think there are only three full matches in all (the last 3) at least one of which was already released on DVD (von Erich vs. Lawler). That being said its a good DVD and some of the clips and promos are interesting to see. Still I wish more AWA compilations were released or at least more AWA footage was readily available.

It was a good DVD. They could have done better on the matches. Only five were full matches; the rest were mainly clips.

I believe some of the clipped matches were due to the fact that they were the only parts of the match available in the AWA library.

I really enjoyed it. It should be noted though that I didn't see much (if any at all) AWA when it was around so I have no clue how fair it is. I will say any time there's a dispute over how something happened they let both sides give their story.

I thought it was ok, but not one of the best DVD's out there. The main thing I noticed was how level-headed Nick Bockwinkel is. In a sport when a lot of old-timers do nothing but appear bitter, he is a breath of fresh air. Verne Gagne is a true legend (even if only for the amount of great wrestlers he trained) but Greg Gagne seems to think he was a lot better than he actually was. He spends so much time with his head up Verne's arse it's frightening.

I will say any time there's a dispute over how something happened they let both sides give their story. They could have been a lot more brutal to Verne in it. Some of his decisions were mind boggling towards the end of the company. My favorite Verne story towards the tail end of the company came from Shawn's book where Verne didn't want the team to be known as the Midnight Rockers because fans might confuse them with rocking chairs
