How the hell is this going to be profitable? Like if someone has to pay to use Netflix twice basically, piracy increases again! I'm guessing the thought process is that the consumer would have to pay for the packages they want, so the ISPs or whatever would get that money up front just like you pay for TV packages. Basically, I think Verizon is angry that they can't make profit off of websites, and because a 110 billion dollar company is obviously straddled for cash, they need to f*** it up for me and you. Here's a great video from boogie2988 that explains it much, much better than I can, for I don't have a lot of knowledge on ISPs and whatnot. *Language Warning*

This isn't a ruling against net neutrality. The judge is merely saying that the FCC doesn't have the power to enforce this, and even then, that's only on a technicality. We're not as f***ed as we seem to be at first glance. I really do hope you're right, because even if it is an inevitability I'd hate to see it happen anytime soon.

Surely the FCC has to try to appeal the decision, right? I mean, we're not talking about some small group here, so I can't imagine the FCC saying "okay, that's good Mr. Judge. Thank you".

* I ask up front that we please not focus on the politics of this issue and instead focus on the issue itself. This is a big deal to anybody that uses the internet, so I'd hate to see this thread get deleted over political arguments.www.bloomberg.com/news/2014-01-14/verizon-wins-net-neutrality-court-ruling-against-fcc.htmlThis really, really, really sucks and has me incredibly worried that we'll someday see an internet that works like television as this picture illustrates. I've read some things around the internet that suggest the FCC can win this by changing the way it defines ISPs, but I fear this is an issue that'll keep coming around time and time again until companies like Verizon, who already bring in 110 billion dollars annually, win out and dictate what people can and can't see on the internet. We could very well be living in the golden age of the internet, because if this isn't an issue that's won and won quickly in favor of internet users, the future of the internet looks very bleak. David Tatel, according to Wikipedia, is 71 years old, so this seems like another case of the generation gone by thinking they understand modern technology enough to know what's good for it and that's incredibly frustrating because they're rarely right. Many news stories like this don't worry me because they're quickly solved, but this one's got me worried a lot. I really don't want an internet where you have to pay for the websites you want. That sounds terrible.

Hey, guys.
I just wanted you to know that, if it's approved, I'll be dropping out of this game. Nothing against the way it's being run or anything, but I just don't have the time to dedicate to it in order to be fair to both Anon and the rest of you guys.

Quick question because I know nothing of Audrey Hepburn outside of her looks; what movie is my 2nd gif from? I just came across it so I have no idea what it's from.

That was very cool! Movie marketing lately has been something else.

I saw this question posed somewhere else today and thought it'd make for an interesting thread. Who's better looking; Marilyn Monroe or Audrey Hepburn. For me, while Marilyn Monroe was no doubt beautiful, I've got Audrey Hepburn in this battle. Just... look at this girl! Ridiculously beautiful. What say you, FAN?

Speaking of beards, I had to shave mine off since I screwed up trimming it and I'm not sure how I feel about it. I suppose it looks okay, but I'm definitely missing the face hair bad. Here's a picture from about a year ago with my beard as full as I can really grow it. What say you, FAN? Grow it back or leave it off? You disgust me. I didn't screw it up on purpose! I'll do better!

FOX Sports reports Cardinals DC Todd Bowles has withdrawn his name from consideration for the Browns' head-coaching vacancy. At this point they might have to hire the mascot for head coaching duties.

That Seattle/SF game is going to be a war. Neither defense concedes an inch and they all hit hard. I suspect a low scoring FG-centric affair to take place come Sunday. At least one full blown fight and lots of guys needing medical attention probably as well. It's going to be a blast. If there is a fight I'd imagine that Sherman will be at the center of it. Dude's a cocky motherf***er, but he backs it up on the field every Sunday.

I've got to say that, even though I was rooting for the Panthers (mainly because I really like Cam Newton and I respect his sudden maturity), I'm really glad the NFC Championship Game is San Francisco vs. Seattle. It's the best rivalry in football today, maybe the best rivalry in a long time, and anytime they play you're always guaranteed a great game.
I've still got Seattle to win because of the Legion of Boom (and I can only imagine how much SF fans hate that term), but it's one of those games that'll come down to the wire.
As excited as I am for the Denver game, I can't wait to watch San Fran and Seattle duke it out.

I don't know if I can see Peyton retiring even if we do win. I think it's a waste for him to go through all of those surgeries and all of that rehab to come back for a couple seasons. I think we get 2-3 more out of him regardless of what happens this season.
And if not, I have faith in Osweiler to take over once Peyton's gone, but I hope that's not for a few seasons.

The only way being fat wouldn't be traced back to lack of self-control is if you A) have severe thyroid issues or B) you simply don't care if you get fat/you actively want to be fat. Other than that, it is lack of self control. Absolutely sound statement that in no way generalizes an entire group of people.

Can we just talk about the picture in my OP? Do you think it's fatphobic? I don't really think so, but that doesn't mean the "fatphobic" attitude doesn't exist as a whole. This thread is proof enough that it exists. I know that's not what you were arguing, but still.
