In no particular order:
Matches with time limits.
The tag rope.
Changing up the color of the ring ropes every now and then.
The ovaltron from the old SmackDown! set. The fist was pretty bitchin too.
Oldschool RAW.
C.M. Punk.
When Regal wipes his feet before he enters the ring.
When the winner of the Rumble goes on last at Mania.
The main event and tag team scenes from late 2002. (SmackDown! 6)
Paul Heyman.
There's more but I should stop here. This was fun.

Edge is a pretty good example of how to properly build a superstar.
If Christian would have won the world title in 2005 that would have been a good example too.
Jeff Hardy's rise to the top would be an example as well only the perfect time for him to have won the world title was against Orton at the Rumble.
Cena's rise was perfect.
Slow slow build is the best way to go.

We're all taking about the guy who was one half of the jobber tag team the Major Brothers right? Then he and his "brother" Curt joined forces with--or should I say basically stalked--and followed Edge hoping to learn something (which they didn't) and now he is wearing ring gear which is an intentional throwback to The Nasty Boys. I don't know, if you ask me it seems like his whole career has been one big rib. For the life of me I can't recall a single promo or backstage segment wherein Edge actually spoke to this kid. Youtube was no help in that department and that is odd considering I can get full episodes of WWF in the 90's. I guess everyone else stopped watching in 07-08 as well. "But they were tag team champions once." Blah blah blah...They lost the titles the first time they defended them and what's worse is that they lost them to Carlito and Primo. That's a sign of progress or of a transitional champion. You decide. I think you're being unnecessarily rough on the guy. If you don't watch his internet videos and you don't watch his matches on Superstars then you don't have any frame of reference. You have nothing to judge him on. He's a different performer now than he was in his Major Brothers and Edge Head days. Steve Austin has been preaching on TE about making the most of your opportunity. Taking the ball if no one will give it to you. And that's exactly what Ryder is doing. And I commend him for it. It's working too. Right now he is getting more views than NXT's youtube channel. He has the internet talking. Which isn't a bad thing. Will it get him a world title? Probably not. Will it get him on TV? Who knows. But is he just sitting on his hands saying "woe is me"? Hell no. He's trying to make something out of nothing. And I'm sure he's having a great time. Entertaining the boys in the back can be just as important as entertaining the fans. Plus, his use of Scott Standford in his videos has to be the funniest goddamn thing in the world. But seriously, he may not be the greatest wrestler in the world but the guy is far from retarded in the ring. He knows what he's doing and he can get it done. www.youtube.com/watch?v=TAIA6uG-dIg&feature=fvstIgnore the commentary and the dead crowd parts. Watch this match for what it is and tell me Ryder can't work. I understand that he doesn't do anything for you but hopefully this explains to you how he can do things for other people. P.S. I know you like his entrance music. Don't lie.

I remember Booker because of the Judgment Day PPV
They bring the IC title back from retirement and book a battle royal featuring former IC champions and Booker T. It pissed me the hell off. Then Booker wins the damn thing and I got more pissed off. Lucky Christian cheated and actually won the match and I marked like a little bitch but I remember Booker beat him shortly after that.

all good options.
I remember Albert specifically because Lance Storm beat him and he was wearing it at Invasion.
I totally forgot about Flair.

I haven't watched TNA in months and have rarely kept up with reading results but I just watched the half hour PPV buildup show... my god this show is going to be insanely bad. How the hell anyone can pay hard earned money for this show is beyond me!
If you are planning on paying for this show, please, I have to know why.

I remember watching live on PPV and thinking this isn't that great. Then I read all this stuff about "match of the year" and even "greatest match of all time". Ummmmm...... no. This match was horribly paced from the start and seemed to have no real point until the very end. Some people have the mentality that the last 10 minutes is what makes a match great. I'd say that's true to some extent. But it seems that Taker and HHH had that thought too so they jumped straight to the last 10 minutes once the bell rang. They just stretched the 10 minutes and made it last for half an hour. Also, it was unrealistic as f***. I don't care who you are and I don't care that it's WrestleMania, there's no way in hell Taker kicks out of 3 pedigrees, multiple chairshots including one to the head, and a tombstone. It's not believable. I felt this way when I watched it on Sunday and I just rewatched now hoping to change my mind but I just can't. It was not a bad match at all and actually was match of the night but no way does it deserve any other recognition than that.

whoever mentioned MVP's losing streak needs to be set straight. that shit got him over as a face. the complete opposite of a burial.
the funny thing about Triple H burying people is I'm pretty sure there was a magazine cover where Umaga was up to his neck in sand and Trips was standing next to him with a shovel. it doesn't get any simpler than that.

I wanted to create this so that there was yet another place to talk about how awesome Cody Rhodes is. Seriously, this guy is really talented and I am glad that he's finally getting the chance to do something big. Let's hope the E doesn't drop the ball because this feud with Rey Rey could be huge and could make Cody into a star.
Kid still needs to figure out how to wear knee pads though....

I've met a bunch but never really felt starstruck. I do notice the "glow" that celebrities have and I do sit there rapidly thinking what to say to them but I realized a while ago that they're just people. they put their pants on one leg at a time just like we all do. except Zach Gowen I guess.
I do have some good stories though.
I work for the arena in my home town which has greatly facilitated my meeting wrestlers. one time at a TNA house show, shortly after they signed Earl Hebner, I got to talk to him backstage. Some notes from our conversation: he's writing a book, he dips, he hates Vince, Rock hates Triple H and didn't go to his wedding. Also, he was on the phone and kept shouting "I want beer! I don't give a f*** what Stevie (Richards) says!"
One night working at that arena during a WWE show, I was out back talking with some fellow employees while they smoked when all of a sudden R-Truth came out the door and immediately hit the ground and did an army crawl until he got behind a wall. He then bummed a cig off of someone and I entered into a conversation with him about Moose in New England.
One time, I followed Heidenreich and Road Warrior Animal to their hotel. They stayed at a Motel 6.
I went to Florida to visit my dad and for a while and then got to WrestleMania 24. A couple of days before that he took me and my brother to an acrobatic pirate show. You sit down and have dinner and watch a scripted show about pirates with a giant pirate ship in the middle of the room. The ship is covered in trampolines. So these actors are flipping and jumping around performing this show and I notice this guy doing 630's and I say to my brother, "is that Jarelle Clark?" it was. I got my picture with him. He was delighted that someone knew who he was from wrestling.
Working backstage I saw Tony Atlas yelling and screaming at the other employees for a phone book. I sidled up to him to listen in and apparently he had been looking for the phone number for a strip club. Soon enough Mark Henry came up and threw a book at the window to get Tony's attention. He was eager to see whether Tony had found him a strip club.
Working a different WWE show, I noticed Dean Malenko leaving the arena. I followed him. I noticed he went to Subway to get a sandwich. I made myself available when he was on his way back. I stopped him and said "thank you for everything you've done." He looked at me and, almost depressingly, said "I haven't done anything." and then walked away.
Lastly, and most importantly, I met Kurt Angle. My favorite match ever is Benoit vs Angle at RR '03. I met Angle in Hampton Beach for a TNA live event. My friends and I asked him for his thoughts on the match and he said it was great and was also important to him. What makes this meeting that much more special was that it took place on the very night that Benoit called out of the Vengeance PPV to kill his family. Very weird. I thought after meeting him that I never got to thank Angle for the match. A few years later at a show in my hometown my friends and I left a note on Angle's car outside of a Margaritta's Restaurant thanking him for it.
And this is all real.
