I think I have all by my lonesome have come up with an idea that would work in the WWE - if done correctly. Thus, if anyone from the WWE reads this ( lol?) and likes my idea - hire me and I will make this idea into reality. I want my 'gimmick' name to be 'Double Photon L'. Ok, now onto the idea!
Ladies and germs, I give you the WWE TEENAGE division! Stop laughing. I mean it, I am serious!
Think about this with an open mind..
It's exactly what it says, a division that is made up of only Teenagers, 13-19. ( Or 13-17 if you want to keep it kids )
WWE can find some these teenagers in dozens of ways thanks to the internet, a good word from a wrestler, etc.
The #1 rule of this division from the start is that NO adult wrestler can handle them for any reason. This has to be the golden rule, since if you have HHH coming out in week 3 of this division to bury the teenagers with his finisher would ruin the entire plan. ;0
There are many ways this could be presented on TV, I think J.R. would be perfect as one of the 'headmasters' of this division, and perhaps you can have a retired or non-regular wrestler as another headmaster. Like Mick Foley or Steve Austin. I am sure Foley would do it but Austin probably won't due to him being a prick at times.
So say let's start with 6 guys, 6 girls, etc. Both of these divisions would be separate. These segments could go well, like have Foley in the ring with two of the kids, say 16 year old guys. If you are having trouble getting this think of John Cena at 16, or people like Chris Benoit. This would not be a joke gimmick!
The grand idea is that these people will be followed from their young teenage years, to a OVW type development place, then to the WWE - even though they started in the WWE.
I will only go over some of the different angles that could happen - and I have thought of many!
First, you could go with the shall we say 'straight edge' kids becoming corrupted as they grow up, acting like DX, etc. They would turn on the headmasters and form, their own group, saying that even though they are young, they come as a 6-pack so they dare any adult wrestler to attack them. They might brandish weapons, like brass knucks, etc. They could have heels giving them advice, like Regal. ( Some advice would be real, some fake - but the kids won't know that! )
Or you can go with a pure wrestling school with no 'gone bad' gimmick. This is the angle I would want, but sadly I don't think it would get over since it would focus on wrestling basics, cutting promos, etc. Some might not like it for 'exposing' the business ( cough, HHH cough, ) or for the fact that mere 'kids' are getting air time over the 'proven' adults. While this is going on I am sure some kids or parents would want to quit, so let them don't shame them. Find more kids to take their place. For people who talk about the WWE needing to badly develop more talent this could be very exciting to them. It sure as hell beats air time given many of the WWE sad gimmicks and angles.
Another way to play this out is to play up an angle that involves adult wrestlers that are in fear of losing their 'spot'. ( I am sure some of the more shall we say, 'sensitive' wrestlers (cough, HHH, HBK clears throat ) They could threaten and tease attacking the teens, who knows what kind of heat this would generate since it's a whole new ballgame with kids involved. It could generate a huge heel who is in a feud with the teenagers 'defender' like Cena or something, or it could go wacky and the fans would start to support the heel since they dislike the teens so much. The latter would be kinda sadistic for the fans to do this, it reminds me of when Bret Hart kept attacking the 'perverse' American fans 10 years ago or so.
Other things you can do is have the kids suck up to the adult wrestlers to try to play they for things. They could have a kid steal a title belt if he/she is a heel. They could 'reform' dead groups like the nWo, DX, 4 Horsemen, etc - but with a modern twist. I would involve the internet in a HEAVY way, perhaps cross promotion with my space, facebook, those kind of sites.
If it's done right, the best thing that can happen is it all of a sudden drawing in millions of viewers who get 'caught up' in it in an American Idol kind of way. Perhaps you can have a 'live cell phone vote' for various things, like most hated, most liked, or even have the fans state who they want the kids to wrestler, and in what kind of match. You could have a random wrestler come down to the ring and just watch the match, to create a sense of heavy interest not only from the fans, but also from the wrestlers. Like say, during a match between a 15 year old and a 16 year old, with rings names like 'Blaster' or 'Mr. Violence', Snitsky would walk out for 'no reason', watch the match, then leave right before it is over. I know the internets would love to talk about what is going on.
I think this would be possible since the parents of these types of kids already know that their kids want to do this, and I am sure would sign wavers and set it right legally. It would be even better if the parents were more involved as managers, who themselves are being trained by managers, like Jimmy Hart, Slick, etc all of those classic managers who can still pull it off.
I don't think I am even close to describing this that I can 'see' in my head nearly as well as I wanted to. I think there could be big money in this, possibly BIG money if it catches on with the teen net crowd/American idol foofy types. I think there is a taboo in wrestling about involving kids in actual matches - but is that only for say 15 year old Johnny Vs. an adult wrestler, or is it for any type of kid matches, even one on one rules?
Sigh. I need to talk with Vince. Can anyone PM me his phone number, or at least the first chain in the contact ladder to reach his secretary?
