Pretty standard question, is barbed wire what the WWE needs to improve raitings?
I think so, it could excite the crowd because of the added danger factor.
For example, Carlito vs.well, um anyone is clearly going to be a boring, called in match. BUT, if you replace the ropes with barbed wire, it becomes a must see!

Yep they definately should. I loved barbed wire matches in the original ECW.

I'd like to see a straight-up Barbwire Match in WWE just once, but I don't think it'll ever happen.

No, because it wouldn't really make any sense.
But if there was one Barbed Wire match in a heated feud? Sure.

If they use barbed wire, it should be in an ultimate feud ending match.

yes, Barbed Wire is the answer to everything.
Plus the fact that in the ECW intro/replay titles, there's barbed wire all around the ring, yet we've only seen it once when they had that awful show at the Ballroom, and even then it was fake.
To be honest, more hardcore matches in general would be an improvement. Listen to how much the crowd pops for that ladder match, or even a simple trash can shot in an extreeeeeeeme rules match. I know someone will come back with, "if they have them all the time, it would be overkill and they'd loose the pop from the crowd" but I really dont believe that.
and speaking of CZW. Anyone else feel the WWE Hell in a Cell match should be "upgraded" to a more of a CZW Cage of Death Match? When I was younger H in a C use to have a real intimidating factor about them. The wrestlers were really "walking into Hell". Now its just, "meh...a glorified cage match". Give it more of a hardcore factor, and the matches grand status would return.

I think they should only use the wire every few years, maybe less.

Yes, definately. But maybe just on ECW. It's a little uncomfortable to watch when used and respected properly, maybe as a fued ending match. Same goes for fire. And napalm!

Exploding Barbed Wire Time Bomb Cage Deathmatch is where it's at.

maybe once or twice, but i wouldn't want it every single week on ECW, just in an effort to be "hardcore". i think overusing it would not only be extremely dangerous, but would make it seem less special. if they did a barbed wire match tomorrow, everyone would watch, because they've never done it before. whereas if CZW did one, it wouldn't be a "must see" because it wouldn't be out of the ordinary.
to sum up, it should be used as a feud ending, final showdown in a really nasty rivalry, but if it does happen, make it count, and make it rare.

Yeah before the glorified hardcore stuff is always peerfect for a company just look at: ECW: Ohh wait out of buisness XPW: Ohh wait see above WSX: Ohh yeah only lasted one season CZW: Don't have a tv deal and only known by smarks
Yeah hardcore don't work like people think it does.

I don't think they should to be honest, they never really have all out hardcore matches now anyway.

Sure why not. When used sparingly it can be very effective. I thought Abyss and Sabu's Barbed Wire Massacre match in TNA was great, and extra special because it hasn't been done since.

Im not a sociopath, so no, id rather not see people hitting each other with barbed wire or falling in it or whatever.
Guess that just plain makes me a bit odd.

Only use it when necessary (i.e: against Mick Foley, inside HIAC, a Street Fight).

No, no, no. They already have enough injuries, they don't need a match type where a botch could cause someone to lose an eye or rupture an artery.

Eh? Personally I don't want to see wrestlers skinned ripped to shreds.
I never really got the barded wire matches. It was just a battle to throw your opponent to the ropes...meh

i dont think it would really add a whole lot to what the WWE does. guys that have gotten big from a past in barbed wire and hardcore matches also tend to have a pretty good personality, as well (foley comes to mind). abyss basically needs to take crazy bumps and bleed, or its unlikely anyone would care about him. foley got over as much for his insane promos as insane matches.
im not against bloody matches, but it shouldbnt take the prospect of 8 gallons of blood in the ring to get a person interested in a wrestler or match. kinda like people watch nascar to see a crash.

They shouldn't use it all the time. I think they use it at good times and don't over do it.
