I'll agree with that, but he gets wayyyy too much hate here. Russo by himself is horrible, in my opinion, but he does have good ideas and loves to push new talent. How many other bookers can you say will do that? But you can't forgive his bad reputation because "he did some good things", it's not just some myth or "backstage report" it is well documented what Russo has done in pro wrestling(good or bad). I just hate this new trend of defending Russo because it's Anti-Internet. Russo sucks plain and simple, "he did have a good run in WWE" so that means he had a good idea...10 years ago. Hardly anything to justify his attrocius booking in WcW, his shortlived promotion and TNA Why is it a "trend"? I personally could care less about Russo. I just don't like the Fox News type sensationalism and spin that goes around the net. Of Russo being the devil himself and single handedly destroying WCW, destroying TNA, killing their cat, screwing their mom etc. Anytime anything goes wrong "It's that damn Russo!".

~~"The Dog" Yeah Yeah. People didn't like it. However, Al Green, perinial jobber, got himself a gimmick and worked it as hard as possible. I actually enjoyed it. I'm still saddened by the way they got rid of The Dog. Brian Knobbs lets him out on the highway and just drives away. So sad... Nitpicking but that was under Sullivan. I know some good things. D'Lo Brown's European title reign and ummmm...

Basically that's it for me. It's less of defending Russo than it is giving people a reality check that there are more piss poor creative sources than Russo. He isn't the only one to have shitty ideas and present them. Like I said, I personally think Dusty was worse for the business than Russo. Yeah, Russo did kill a dynasty, but it's not like he went in there on a blank slate or while they even had a chance to rebuild.

Well Dusty now books ECW which has been putting on redicuously good matches as of late. Russo's most recent confirmed claim to fame was booking BG and Kip James to go to San Antonio to the Alamo to "challenge" DX. So yes, Dusty did screw some things up somewhere along the lines in his history of booking and also invented the most spammed form of a finish in wrestling history, but he's at least learned from his mistakes. But that's not saying Russo didn't do good things, he did do good things in the WWF and some good things in WCW but there's a lot of bad he did.

Changes WCW's tired, outdated ring sets and entrance ramp for the New Blood vs. MC reset...I liked the flat ramp all the way to the ring...

Actually WCW updated the ring/logo/Nitro set before he arrived, it may not have been great as you could hardly recognize the WCW logo, but still they did. And WCW was doing the ramp long before Vince arrived.

I'm not a big fan of Russo's writing at times, but I knew that and WCW was already bad when Russo went in there, but it just seemed to get worse,IMO. Not only did it get worse, it got worse REALLY quickly. By the time he had been there a month, the product was painfully hard to sit though absolutely true

His contributions in the Attitude Era. I've always said that when Russo had someone to wrangle him in or work with, the stuff he could come up with was amazing. A lot of his Attitude Era stuff was awesome. Some of his ideas in WCW were quite good -- hell, I gave him a free pass on Tank Abbott as World Champion because I genuinely thought it would work. And it cannot be forgotten that Russo actually did something that nobody currently writing for WWE does - he sat down with the wrestlers and talked to them for hours on end to try to get to a gimmick that was already there in them. That's why so many Attitude Era people got over...he figured out that Sean Morley has some porn star like qualities in him and made him into Val Venis. Nobody currently on creative seems to do that any more with the exception of John Cena becoming a rapper. But when he's given the reigns and allowed to do whatever he wants with no one to reign him in...there's a lot of crap to sort through to get to the good stuff.

I knew that had that big, spikey, opening Logo entrance but I didn't think they started reusing the ramp until after the restart...I dunno...poor WCW is nothing but memories now...and apparantly false ones, haha!

He helped kill WCW. I'm sure Vince McMahon thought that was pretty cool of him?

He embarrassed Hogan by calling him BALD! That was so great! I can't believe..... .....Oh, now that I think about it, Roddy Piper did that years earlier. Nevermind.

So . . . four pages, and the best Pro-Russo argument so far has been the "OMGZ, teh IWC" dead horse.
Gee.
