Technically JYD had a world title run. For three weeks in 1992 he was USWA Unified World Heavyweight Champion...which was the WCCW and AWA World Titles merged together. That said, yeah...he deserved a world title run from somewhere bigger.

Technically JYD had a world title run. For three weeks in 1992 he was USWA Unified World Heavyweight Champion...which was the WCCW and AWA World Titles merged together. Actually, by that point it was just the WCCW title. The AWA pulled out of that arrangement less than six months after it started. As a matter of fact, the AWA didn't even exist at that point. They officially filed for bankruptcy in late 1990, and promoted their last cards in early 1991. Without AWA representation, I don't think anyone really considers the USWA/ World Class title to be a legitimate world championship.

Agreed on that front...I had always assumed that the USWA kept the AWA title lineage but yeah, without the AWA lineage the USWA title was definitely not a world/major championship. Regardless, that's why I said "Technically".
