The Women's Gauntlet Battle Royal deal at the PPV will be to crown the first-ever TNA Woman's Champion. They'd been talking about this for awhile, starting a full-fledged women's division when they got two hours. If Russo stays in charged, it's guaranteed a man holds the belt by this time next year, probably Eric Young in drag.reason number 281937832 to not take tna seriously... Because a wild and highly unimaginative russo joke (how many have there been?) is going to happen. Criticising something because of a joke someones made about it is reaching.

Yeah, sorry, that was smurfing horrible. As a Journalism student at Uni, I feel ashamed to have read that. Agreed. I am a journalist (small time journalist, but still) and if I wrote even the smallest, most insignificant article with all those little "jokes" and "quips," I'd get stuck with a long talk with my boss.

Jeez, sucks about Sydal. I hope this doesn't alter WWE's plans for him, and that he fully recovers. Nope, he'll be absolutely fine to do some jobs for Snitsky.

Austin Aries beat Davey Richards. Davey has been heckled on a lot of shows recently for wrestling too much like Benoit, and at one point here he put on a crossface and a guy screamed, "GOOD NIGHT DANIEL!" That's sick and people wonder why society doesn't take wrestling and it's fans seriously. So what if he wants to mimic his idol? The guy who screamed that needs a good swift kick in the back of the head.

And Gabe might too, for CONTINUALLY allowing him to act like Benoit down to manneurisms (he does the throat cutting thing) in an attempt for cheap heat, because this isn't the first time he pulled the Benoit act out.

The amount of smarkitude in that article is vomit inducing.

My problem with any article like that, whether it's wrestling, movies, comics, etc., is that I am fully capable of forming my own opinion on the matter. I don't need some idiot to inject their dislike of a product in what they write to try and color my views on a subject.

And yet nobody's jumping all over Elijah Burke for using the rolling Germans. This is a ridiculous double standard at play here. Just saying. Eventually we all have to just get past it and move on. Anybody shouting something in direct reference to Daniel's death is being a douchebag trying to get himself over and it is never right to have said it, no matter what.

Shouldn't they jump all over Angle too, then? edit: I don't actually think anyone should be jumped on for doing moves Benoit did, unless they're intentionally trying to rile up fans.

Of course the dude's being a douche and shouldn't have said it, but the simple fact of the matter is that Davey IS trying to act like Benoit. Burke's not doing Benoit taunts and he (obviously) doesn't even bear a remote resemblance to him (whereas Davey does have a very slight Benoit look to him). At MMII, I took Davey's side and said it was all a big coincidence. The fact of the matter is he's trying to get the worst kind of cheap heat because he keeps f***ing doing it.

I will concede the point that him still doing it would eventually get annoying, still doesn't really excuse what the guy said though, especially because it's not going to suddenly make Gabe say "ok we need to stop doing this" and go in a different direction with Davey's character.

Disclaimer: The following rant is aimed at the media, not this board. I am not trying to stir up trouble here. So let me get this straight: It's bad for guys like Davey Richards to use the Benoit situation as a way of garnering cheap heat, but it's perfectly fine to use the Benoit situation to bolster your own little "crusade?" According to the media, this isn't about a double murder/suicide anymore. It's about: - Steroids (Nancy Grace)
- Concussions (The "Figure Four" guy posted above)
- Violence (Glenn Beck)
- Unionizing wrestlers (Konnan)
- Creating a wrestling "off season" (Half of the Pro Wrestling Torch staff)
- Letting the government "take care of it" (The other half of the PW Torch staff)
- Name/Face recognition (Marc Mero)
- having a built-in reason to criticize an angle without giving it a chance (Many in the IWC)
Now, I'm not saying that Richards' pathetic attempt at heat is a good thing. Far from it. I just don't see how his actions are any different than those of Nancy Grace or the Figure Four guy posted above. With the possible exception of Konnan, these people are using a horrific tragedy to further their own careers/agendas, and I just find that offensive.

And, despite the oh-so-smarky comment about Russo giving a man the TNA Women's title, it should be noted that the only time a man held the Women's title in the WWF was a full four months after Russo left the company.

And, despite the oh-so-smarky comment about Russo giving a man the TNA Women's title, it should be noted that the only time a man held the Women's title in the WWF was a full four months after Russo left the company. No, that was most assuredly Russo's fault. Any time ANYTHING bad ever happens, it's customary to blame Russo as it will always be his fault. And I'm not talking about pro wrestling, I mean all the damn time. You ever stub your toe on furniture? That's Russo's fault. Ever try to play DVDs, but they're too scratched to work no matter how hard you clean them? Russo again. Ever accidentally leave the oven on when leaving your flat, and you nearly burn down the whole building? You'd better believe that's Russo. [/sarcasm] Seriously, Russo, and it's been mentioned time and time and time and time again, does not have total control over TNA. He's in charge of VKM, and that's about it. If I could speak to said internet funnyman, I'd tell him to lay off Russo, it's simply not funny anymore. Oh, and good for TNA to go to Tel Aviv. And bad for the Davey Richards fan trying to be funny. Much bad karma wished unto him. I don't think that the crippler crossface should automatically be taboo. Sure, it came from someone who I think shouldn't be honoured, but if it's not done as a tribute (Richards does for heat, and that should be frowned upon) why criticise? It's a cool-looking move. I mean, the Nazis shouldn't be honoured either, but you should still be allowed to drive a Volkswagen. That's just MHO on the matter.

The bottom line is that in media, there IS a difference between 'news reporting' and 'news entertainment.' This is a distinction not many people understand.
For example if you watch Fox News, Anchors Greta Van Susterin and Brit Hume cannot voice their personal opinions while reporting news stories.
Bill O'Reilly, Sean Hannity, Alan Colmes and Geraldo Riviera CAN voice their opinions, and the entire purpose of their shows is to hear them voice their opinions.
If you watch CNN, Nancy Grace and Lou Dobbs have opinion shows, and
When the Benoit thing broke, we had people on this board, who don't understand the difference watching Youtube clips from the news ENTERTAINMENT programs and flipping out going, "He's NOT allowed to give his opinion!!!"
Wrong. News entertaiment program's are supposed to do that.
Newspapers have straight reporting (which aren't supposed to include any bias) AND they have editorial pages. TV Journalism is no different.
I guess with the Internet it's more complex? It's like here, everyone voices their opinions all the time, even during 'news and notes.' I guess that's the reality of the net.
And yes, the guy who reported this a douche, and I can't believe one poster took some snarky aside he made (regarding TNA's women's title) as fact.
