I realize that this isnt current conversation, but i didnt want to take another thread in this direction, and since this is a TNA thoughts thread, ill post it here.
I dont get why everyone wants 3D gone, really.
I mean, look what they've done this year; They lost to LAX FIVE TIMES before finally beating them and everyone freaking out that they were burying the young talent. They lose the tag team titles after being pinned by Samoa Joe on PPV.
They then turn heel, which they are spectacular at. They feud with The Steiners. They don't win a match in this feud either, they do however, do what they do best, and play great bullies when not in the matches. They attack The Steiners, putting them out for a while. They attack a lot of the tag teams in TNA (including MCMG), wanting a title shot. They get a title shot. Surprise, they don't win.
MCMG get revenge on 3D for beating them up by costing 3D the tables match against the Steiners. 3D starts a feud with MCMG, and the X Division as a whole. Yes, they beat people down, playing up the bully card, but its always from behind, or when they're outnumbering people. They run down the X Division for a few weeks and continue to beat people up, people again complain that they always bury everyone. There will be a payoff to the beating down the X Division part Thursday, and by all indications of the past, they will lose to MCMG when they finally have a match.
Yes, they're kind of old (no older than Christopher Daniels btw), but they are one of the most recognizable Tag Teams ever, one of the few left in the world that, like it or not, are a Main Event level Tag Team. They play their roles greatly, and put over young talent. They are absolute heat magnets. People love to see them get their ass kicked.
But why should that matter, theyre old and arent spectacular wrestlers!
I know most people will disagree, but I think Team 3D is a spectacular asset to have on your roster.

Well for starters, they're old and they're not good wrestlers but more importantly I don't like how Ray REACTS to signs in the crowd, so I think he's a d*ck in real life. When you become a professional wrestler, you must accept that some fans will boo you, and others will cheer you. But Ray refuses to allow any fans to boo him. He threatens and tries to intimidate anyone who chants at him, or cheers for his opponents and that is ridiculous. With other wrestlers the entire crowd can chant, "You suck" for the entire match and the wrestler brushes it off because getting that reaction is better than getting no crowd response. When my brother and I were sitting in the front row at an indy show we chanted "Smells like Bacon" three times and he was in our faces threatening us. And that's why we did it. If he's going to be a professional wrestler (and morbidly obese) then he's going to have to accept that fans can boo and mock him. What other fat wrestler that you know goes beserk when the audience points out his weight? Did Paul Bearer or Dusty Rhodes constantly get in people's faces? Did Earthquake ever jump the rail and try to intimidate some fans sitting five rows back like Ray does in the impact zone? If he's that sensitive about his weight problem, he could try losing weight. That's what I'm doing. But Ray supposedly hates exercise. If that's true then he's in the wrong business. I can't stand lazy wrestlers who continue to hold championships on the basis of their 'legacy' or past accomplishments. If Ray isn't working hard TODAY than he doesn't deserve to co-hold the Tag titles. Just my two cents

And thats not a perfect thing to have in a top heel act? I mean, doesnt him reacting that way just make you want to chant those things more?

And thats not a perfect thing to have in a top heel act? I mean, doesnt him reacting that way just make you want to chant those things more? I forgot to mention -- they were faces at the time. This was their first indy show appearance after winning the NWA tag belts from LAX and they were giving a babyface promo at the time. This wasn't part of the show. My old high school's gym was filled with people chanting for 3D, and two people chanted "Smells like Bacon" three times. We did this because on the net impact zone fans were claiming that Ray kept jumping the barricade and threatening fans who cheered for LAX. I wanted to see if the rumors were true. They are. Ray jumped out got in our faces, tore up our signs and stormed off with the crowd laughing at him. Guys who were in charge of the indy apologized that, 'he's such a baby.'

I think this post here proves that they are great heels. They weren't heels. Plus Devon didn't do anything. This is something Ray has a habit of doing.

Remember when they were the biggest heels in ECW? Same basic principle.

But there really shouldn't ever be faces in the first place. As a heel, that is a great quality to have. A face? no. But they should always be heels if only for Ray's 'dickish' qualities, like you said.

Agreed. Remember when they were the biggest heels in ECW? Same basic principle. But they weren't heels. Why won't you people get that this was no 'in character?' The guy threw a fit because two fans in the front row heckled him. He was supposed to be the show's top babyface. I have the dvd of the event -- you see him storm over to me, you see him, grab my sign, and then you see it cut to the next match. They edited it out, so fans don't see the top babyface threatening fans.

Dude, Brother Ray should be commended for doing stuff like that, and reacting to people making fun of him. That's what makes his character. That's why they were so great in ECW. They were brutal bullies, vicious heels, and they would cause riots because people hated them. Team 3D are probably the best heels in wrestling right now, and they could help any team, a team like the Machine Guns, head straight to the top of the division. Again, you're proving the point of them being great heels. What Brother Ray does is what heels should do.

Again, you're proving the point of them being great heels. What Brother Ray does is what heels should do. Are you reading my responses. He wasn't a heel. So if he's the top babyface of an indy show and you claim he's "What Brother Ray does is what heels should do" then doesn't that mean he's a failure?

Ok, even as faces, I could still see him doing that in character. You were worked. No way, man. He was totally out of character. He was challanging my brother and I to jump the rail. And when we laughed and said no thank you he said, "I could turn this whole crowd against you. Wait until the main event -- you'll be f*$&ed! Wait and see! I'll get you kicked the hell out of here!" That's not him working me. That is a diva throwing a hissy fit. Why would they edit it out of the dvd of the event and have someone apoligize to us if he was working us?

I've been worked by plenty of wrestlers, this was real.

Then they didn't really work you. You bought into him hook, line and sinker. Like, if you know Brother Ray to act exactly like that, and that's what he is in real life, then get me an autograph, because it would seem you know him pretty well.
But if you don't really know him, and know how he would react to certain things, you were worked. He's a good worker, and you're the mark who bought the tickets. You were worked.

I don't even understand this. It seems to me that TNA turned him heel, because fans hate him, because he's a legit A-hole.

That incident doesn't sound very telling to me, as one would think that Ray would know the emotional dangers of the line of work he's in. It seems like he was just screwing around with you.

Yeah, but here's the thing. It does happen, and it used to happen in the old ECW. Shane Douglas got sued for taking liberties with a fan. I think Sabu also had problems in that area.
You don't think Shane Douglas knew what could happen if he put his hands on a fan?
A guy I know had Devon spit in his face at an old ECW show, and then he spit back and got thrown out.
Ray wanted me to jump the rail so he could get security to throw me out but instead of taking the bait, I laughed at him which pissed him off more.
We both knew the minute I crossed that railing he's got a free pass until security got there.
