Starrcade '97 to Sting. CLEAN. I'd have to agree..I still believe to this day that had Hogan just jobbed cleanly during Starrcade '97, things would have turned out much differently during the WCW-WWF wars. The ratings would have held on longer, there likely would have been no finger poke of doom, and it's possible that WCW would still be around today.

He should have jobbed to Vader in WCW. It would have kept Vader looking like a monster and given Hogan a boast when he was able to best him.

i agree with the starrcade 97 against Sting clean
i agree with the Orton match as well
and to reverse the topic a little..i think Hogan shouldve beaten Goldberg on Nitro and set up for a PPV match.

Except to stand up for the honor of his daughter. I know it may seem corny and all, but the crowd loved it and it's not like Orton was doing a whole lot after that match anyways as he was toiling around in a boring feud with Carlito and losing to the likes of Jeff Hardy and Flair in the weeks following it. Orton was still doing the Legend killer gimmick, he should have beat Hogan. I'm not an Orton fan but he should have won that match. To quote Kai En Tai: INDEED! It's pretty useless having a "Legend Killer" gimmick when one of the biggest legends in the history of wrestling (who turns up ONCE A F***ING YEAR BTW!) refuses to put you over. See also: Undertaker, The I was fine with him losing to Undertaker, since he came pretty close. In hindsight, it all worked out, but at the time I was pissed because it was a part timer in the twilight of his career not putting over a young guy who WWE is trying to establish as a main-eventer. If anyone was going to end the "streak" it should have been Orton.

Starrcade '97 to Sting. CLEAN. Agreed. I'll go even further and say that PPV should've been the end of the nWo. The build-up to Starrcade 97 was genius, and it seemed like the perfect payoff to the nWo storyline, and the nWo (in my opinion at least) was already starting to get old by that point. At most, maybe they could have dedicated the next Nitro or two to the aftermath of the nWo with the various nWo members going their own way (was Nitro 3 hours at this point? It's been so long that I can't remember). Honorable mention would be Vader.

It's more Roddy Piper and his 9 year non pinned/submitted thing that bugs me

The smarta** in me wants to say "All of them" (because I can't stand him).
Since I haven't watched the WWE since 1997, I'll say he should have wrestled and lost to Bret in 1993 after WM9 -- he should have passed the torch like Andre did to him at WMIII.
And perhaps to Sid at WMVIII.
And to Savage and Piper, just once each, legitimately, during their WWF runs together.

Bret beating yoko when hogan, luger, and others from the eighties couldn't did more for Bret than a win over Hogan could have ever done.

Passing the torch to Yokozuna would imply that Yokozuna was meant to be the top superstar in the WWF for years...which never happened and was definitely not the intention of McMahon or anyone else. Then, when you factor in that Yoko couldn't even beat him clean, your argument is ridiculous. "Passing the torch" would imply a clean victory to a new face for the company. Hulk DID pass the torch to Warrior, but when that didn't work out, he avoided doing it for Bret or anyone else. And personally, I think Bret beating Hogan would have done wonders for the WWF during the new generation years.

Hogan passed the torch to Warrior, but only to hold until he came back. He didn't pass the torch to Yoko -- he apparently had been in some sort of dispute with the Fed over his stay, and chose Yoko over Bret. A win over Hogan (while on his way out) would have been the true torch-passing to Bret -- Hogan was the top dog, and guys like Yoko and Luger were nothing compared to him in the fans' eyes and in the eyes of the industry. Bret beating Hogan would be like Hogan beating Andre -- Bret beating Luger or Yoko was like Hogan beating Bundy or the Big Boss Man.

Also, Yoko beat him down badly in the post-match sending Hogan out of the WWE battered and broken down, so I'd say that's doing quite a favor in putting over Yoko as a monster heel,IMO.

Yes, he did put Yoko over as a monster heel, I'll definitely give you that. But it wasn't a passing the torch moment. And I don't think a heel should beat one of the most over faces ever cleanly, but what I am saying is that a passing the torch moment can't have a dirty finish.

I'm not going to go over his nWo run, but the only red-and-yellow Hogan win that struck me as truly unnecessary was his victory in the 1990 Rumble (he had to win the next year to properly step up as Sgt. Slaughter's challenger, but Warrior should have taken the previous one).
I would have loved to see him lose to Bret Hart (more about me being a big Bret fan than anything) before his 1993 WWF departure.
