-- Sting, who turns 49 years old in March, has either verbally agreed to a new contract, or the belief is that they are close to an agreement. It is said to be a new one-year deal. He will do some TV, most PPV's, and hardly any house shows. Dixie Carter sees him as a wrestler who makes TNA look more major league and whose name will help them land more licensing deals.
-- Shane Douglas came out of hibernation at last Saturday's IWC show in Elizabeth, NJ. He gave one of his patented, long-winded, "shoot-like" promos, this time ripping on TNA, Dixie Carter and Vince McMahon. He also ripped on TNA booker/writer Dutch Mantel, complaining about his comedy booking in front of the crowd. He said the best idea Mantel could come up with was Eric Young wearing a chicken suit. Douglas said 53 of his closest friends are now dead and that Vince McMahon has done nothing to help things or make the schedule better. The indy promoter originally brought Douglas to the show to do angle with one of the promotion's wrestlers. However, the indy wrestler he was supposed to be feuding with, Bubba the Bulldog, put Douglas over for all he'd done the business after Douglas' promo. The whole locker room then came out and applauded Douglas. TNA booked Samoa Joe & Eric Young on the same show, and TNA typically hates stuff this, so it could affect future relations between them and the indy promotion.

So please disregard the last part. It's complete speculation and nothing else.

Time to retire, Shane. Nobody wants to listen to another bitter old man.

Time to retire, Shane. Nobody wants to listen to another bitter old man. He actually already is retired(According to the IWC promoter), which is why he wasn't wrestling.

And have never, to my knowledge, just made stuff up.

So now he's just ranting for cash, I wouldn't buy tickets to an indy show to here him whining about how ECW/WWE/every booker under the sun "screwed" him. Why can't people be greatful for the opportunities they were given? Many wrestlers are jobbers for life, Shane certainly wasn't.

Why can't people be greatful for the opportunities they were given? Many wrestlers are jobbers for life, Shane certainly wasn't. None of the fans knew what he was going to do besides not wrestle. The newer fans loved the speech, but pretty much all of the longer fans(including myself) thought it was really dumb. The fans popped for it, so I guess it was successful. He actually didn't rip Flair, so props to Shane.

On Shane's promo: promoter: i simply told him it was a tribute and that shane spoke on his own

so wait a lockerrom of an indie promotion emptied out and actually applauded Shane Douglas for doing his usual complain and cure promo?
Ha-friggin-Ha
that would have been the BEST moment to let somebody actually rip into Franchise.

Wait, turned into? What the hell was he before? This IS the same guy who, while in WCW, whined, left WCW, whined about WCW, got the NWA title, whined, was in ECW, whined about WWF, went to WWF and got misused, whined about it, came back to ECW, whined about everyone else, left ECW, whined about ECW, and has done nothing but whine since.
Not to mention that, in our one personal encounter, he yelled at me for "daring" to sit, at a charity show, in the "employees area" so that I could count tickets from said show, rather than "being out there with the rest of the damn marks", as he put it. Gee, dumbass, maybe the EVENT STAFF shirt, or badge, or fact taht I was sitting WITH THE PROMOTER might give you a clue? No? Fine then.

Well, I for one am pleased about the Sting news. I'd really like him back for another year, and have him get a proper sendoff so he can put somebody over. As for Shane Douglas, eh, business as usual.

Shane Douglas hasn't missed a beat! BLAH BLAH BLAH Vince and WWE are evil BLAH BLAH BLAH I still can't drop a nearly 15 year old grudge and move on BLAH BLAH BLAH. In typical Franchise fashion TNA has now been added to his resume of promotions that he shoots on right after departing. Maybe after Target fires him Shane will show up on a future IWC show and cut a shoot pormo on them as well.

I was at that show as well. A few things about it: - It was Elizabeth, PA, not Elizabeth NJ. Little mistake, but still. - His main point (support Pittsburgh wrestling) was good. Everything else was hit and miss. - For those of you unfamiliar with IWC, a bit of backstory: Bubba the Bulldog is a fairly well-known DJ in Pittsburgh and former owner of IWC. He comes back from time to time and does what he does best - yell, insult, and generally act annoying. At the November show, Bubba spent his allotted time calling Douglas every name under the sun. Everyone I knew was expecting the normal "Bubba" segment - insults, yelling, and a beatdown. That didn't happen this time around. - The following is from IWC promoter Norm Connors, taken from the official message board: When I get the show on DVD (it's already on pre-order), I will upload the entire promo (both the Bubba part and the Franchise part) to Daily Motion.

Douglas is constantly entertaining, but ruins it all when he decides to break kayfabe. Anyway, I thought he was staying away from wrestling for good after becoming employed by Target.

So we have one thread saying that TNA won't even mention Sting. And another that says that they are excited he's with the company. Both were posted within a few hours of each other. Which is it?
