There are many things I'd rather do with a large group while under the influence than watch that movie. But I do see your point. Agreed, but when you do those, the cops show up and say things like "indecent exposure" and "orgies" and...oh, wait, maybe you were going somewhere else with that. No, you pretty much caught the gist of it.

Ok, in no way do LOTR and 300 count as cult films. They were mega-budget movies shown in theatres all over the world. I dont count the kill bill films either, and you could argue about Pulp Fictions Cult Status as well. Cult films are movies that have a small but loyal fanbase and for one reason or another (indy, lack of exposure, controversial, they suck ass) never received play in most theatres. Donnie Darko fits the bill and is also my pick for most overated cult film.
There are few things in life as painful as watching some douchebag college student spend an hour disecting the film and talking about the science invloved, and jut how f***ing deep it was.

Actually, that can be salvaged. What you do is, wait for him to finish, drag him to a lake, throw him in, and ask how deep that is.

i'm kinda shocked. i figured this thread would be "hate something alot of other people like" type of thread... but some of you (SOME) have actually backed up your opinions. THAT i can respect...
I'll agree with Darko. I mean, it's not a BAD movie... I just think it's overrated. As far as cult movies i HATE... Rocky Horror is right up there... Or anything by Tim Burton... So many people drink the Burton/Depp kool-aid that they cant see the forest through the trees, ya know? IMO his movies are just all around boring and overly "gothic" if you will... burton tries to be gothic... and it's painfully obvious to me that he's trying way too hard.

Pulp Fiction Whoopity Dooo, a bunch of cliches and one liners for the angry teenager to quote way too often. OMG, the movie has Drugs and Guns and Swearing, it's SOOooo innovative. Whatever. That's it, outside. Wait...you're not a big guy, are you? Doesn't matter, dude. I got your back. As for me, I'm sure it doesn't count as a "cult" movie since I seem to be the only person that hated it, but I did not then and don't see now what was the big deal about The Lord of the Rings. Three hours of some douchebag walking around and talking? No thanks.

Garden State. Oh man, what a pseudo-intellectual/deep piece of garbage that film was. Hey I loved Garden State, It Introduced me to The Shins. -Darko was okay, not "mindblowing" -Napolean Dynamite was just stupid If anyone talks about Warriors or Dazed and Confused in a bad way there will be hell to pay.

Rocky Horror gets my vote. Maybe if I went to one of those theatres where they go all out and do crazy stuff when they watch it, I'd change my tune. But I saw it on TV a few times and wasn't even mildly amused.
Other than that, I seem to like most of the "cult films" you guys are talking about. Don't necessarily love them all, but like most of them.

You are all dead to me, except for the guy who said "Donnie Darko." I haven't seen that movie. I'm afraid I am going to be the same way if I stay in this thread, so I shall say Good Day to you all.

Rocky Horror Picture Show, without a doubt. Awful. I mean, Meat Loaf is in it for Christ's sake.

For those who said Napoleon Dynamite, re-think about the Uncle Rico character and how rad he was. Even if he wasn't in much as he should have been, do you still hate it?

Scary Movie: All of them. None of these movies are funny except part of the second one. Plus they spawned the Epic Movie/Date Movie franchise and they will burn in hell for it.
Fast times at Ridgemont High: Usually I would like this type of movie but not here. Only good part is the chick showing her HOO HA'S.
