Prince won........... against all odds! ------------------------------------------------- Flock of Seagulls - I RanIn an interview on the VH1 special "Greatest One-hit Wonders" Score has mentioned that he resents the song, but plays it because people enjoy it. Vs. Dexys Midnight Runners - Come On EileenThe music video to accompany the single was directed by Julien Temple. It features members of the band wearing sleeveless shirts and overalls. Drummer Seb Shelton was reputedly fired from the band during the filming of the music video. Rowland had ordered his bandmates not to do any bathing or shaving of any kind, in order to achieve a more gruff appearance. Shelton did not follow the orders, and was subsequently kicked out of the band. This is also the reason of Shelton's absence near the end of the video. The "Eileen" as featured in the video (and on the record sleeve) is Maire Fahey, sister of Siobhan Fahey, former singer with Bananarama and Shakespear's Sister. The American singer Johnnie Ray, an early rock-and-roll crooner, is also featured in the video using old film footage, and mentioned in the opening lyrics.

Come on Eileen, into Round 4. ---------------------------------------------- Two movie songs duke it out for a place in Round 4. Ray Parker Jr. - Ghostbusters themeThe song is referenced in both the films and the cartoon series. In Ghostbusters II, at one point in the movie, Peter Venkman says, "Kitten, I think what I'm saying is that sometimes, shit happens, someone has to deal with it, and who you gonna call?" In an episode of The Real Ghostbusters, the Ghostbusters are trapped in an alternate reality New York populated by ghosts, where a group of ghosts called the Peoplebusters go around the city catching human beings. When they are fleeing from the Peoplebusters, the GBs pass a ghost dining in an outdoor cafe, who witnesses the scene and sings "When there isn't something strange/in your neighborhood/Who you gonna call?/Peoplebusters!" The famous british band McFLY also preformed the song as it is one of the lead singer's (Tom Fletcher) favorite songs Professional Wrestler Jerry Lawler made a parody of the song in Memphis Wrestling entitled "Wimpbusters". Vs. Survivor - Eye Of The TigerThe song topped the Billboard Hot 100 for six weeks from July 24, 1982. It was preceded by "Don't You Want Me" by the Human League and followed by "Abracadabra" by the Steve Miller Band. It also topped the Mainstream Rock Tracks. "Eye of the Tiger" also reached number one in the UK, Irish and Australian charts. The song won a Grammy Award, an Academy Award nomination, and was voted "Best New Song" by the People's Choice Awards.

Honestly, I'm kind of glad Ghostbusters won. Since this tourney started I felt I should have saved Eye of the Tiger for my rock tourney. ---------------------------------------------------------------- No descriptions for this one because my computer is acting up. A-Ha - Take On MeVs. Peter Gabriel - In Your Eyes

Take On Me for fun video purposes. That's fine. I really came to the conclusion that this tourney should be about both. A combo of the video and songs. After all, the 80's are synonymous with music videos, and really half of the battle of becoming a hit was getting it on TV.

If you woulda slapped my hands for it I would have just continued to vote for videos if I felt like it and kept my mouth shut with generic answers.
