A little wsx trivia. The part of m-dogg 2o in the filth and the fury was origanally supposed to be "the man that gravity forgot" pac.But he had visa trouble and couldnt make the taping.it would have been a bit confusing having pac and 6-pac on the same show

"WSX will join Freaks and Geeks, Undeclared, Firefly and other TV greats in the pantheon of shows Americans were too stupid to "get." - Derek Burgan of F4Wonline.com There is a big debate as to whether or not Wrestling Society X was garbage or entertaining. After watching the entire season on DVD I actually found myself enjoying it. I didn't really watch it on MTV. I found the wrestling entertaining, even if it a "spotfest."I really loved the gimmicks of Matt Classic, Human Tornado, and El Hombre Blanco Enmascarado. However, I think the most annoying person ever to step into a ring is Fabian Kaelin. Of course the organization is over the top with their piranha matches, Quiznos plugs, and lame camera effects, but it's that kinda stuff that made me laugh and actually enjoy the dvd. You are clear that the "Arrested Development..." comment was tongue in cheek right? Anyway, I got it. It was a wacky, 1/2 hour wrestling show that was supposed to be fun. If you were looking for pure wrestling, a roster consisting of Teddy Hart, X-Pac, and New Jack (for at least 1 episode) should've been a hint that you wouldn't dig it.

Apparently I didn't "get it". I thought it was garbage. Barely qualified as wrestling.

I enjoyed it for what it was.
I got the set, because Best Buy is trying to rape me for the Mysterio DVD, so i got this instead. I thought it was hilarious and some of the spotty wrestling was fun to watch.
But I could deal with it staying dead. It would've gotten old had it been on this whole time. WSXtra was the best part. That had the longest and best matches, also Matt Classic shennanigans.
And Fabian was annoying, but his "transformation" actually had me wondering what he was going to do. And him announcing the Human Tornado made me laugh every time.

I don't think I got it.
WSX was a "How NOT to book a wrestling show on mainstream tv 101" IMO
Over the top gimmicks, matchs, camera work, announers etc etc.
Wrestling isn't gonna boom again in the mainstream anytime soon, and WSX was the least viable way to lure new audience in.
Most wrestling fan watched and either found it garbage or "so bad it's good", I challenge you to find your casual fan or your average MTV person to tune in and not laugh at WSX...

I "got" Wrestling Society X just fine. It was Wrestlecrap at its finest, as it was so bad, it was good. All it needed was Joel or Mike and the Bots and it would've made for a great episode of Mystery Wrestling Theater 3000.

I don't know if I "got it" or not but I know I liked it. Why? Because it's different than any other wrestling organization. It was just fun. Plus I like X-pac from his AAA days.

I got it...Matt Classic and The Human Tornado are hip geeks in high school in the early 80's who are undeclared about what they want to be in college so they take off in a spaceshit and smuggle things like and old man and a kid with robots.
Am I close?

My friend is a casual fan and loved it immensely. We question why WWE isn't booked in a similar manner every time we catch wrestling on TV. As for the average MTV viewer, they're like 15-18 year old females who watch The Hills or Laguna Beach. They are hardly the audience that WSX was aiming for. On a side note, I think it would have worked better on MTV2. Given it's the same corporation, but it has more of an 'edge' to it. Making it perfect for WSX.
