I was at either the first or second appearance of Edge. I never would've guessed he'd go from injuring a Boricua to being a mutli-time World Champ. Well, Christian seemed even less capable of ever being a champ back then. Times change. Ok, he never was WWE Champ, but you can't deny that he proved himself to be a worthy champ and main event material in TNA. Honestly ... I think he could have been main event material in WWE. And the crazy thing is, he actually won the WWE title on a fluke when I was playing SmackDown! vs. Raw 2006. (or maybe it was '07? The last game he was on, anyway.) To satisfy one of his "where's my title match?" e-mails, I put him in an Elimination Chamber against four guys and defending champion Edge. (I played as Edge.) It came down to the Brothers of Awesomeness and Christian scored an upset win, and actually held the title for a few months. Go figure.

I'll never forget 1992. I pretty much worshipped Bret Hart, and was CRUSHED when he lost the IC title to the Bulldog.
I remember getting up that morning to watch WWF Superstars, and saw Bret come out with a belt. We had an ancient TV, and the volume took forever to come on when you first turned the TV on, so I had no audio the first few minutes. I was still pretty groggy cuz I just woke up, so I thought this was an old interview they were showing when he was still IC champ.
Then I saw the belt he had around his shoulder had the eagle wings on it, and I started marking out like CRAZY. One of the happiest times of my young life, and something I'll never forget as long as I live.
So yeah, Bret.

I'm suprised "Deacon" Bautista doesn't have enough mentions. As big a guy as he was, "future World Champ" was the last thing to come to mind when I first saw him on tv. Although I guess I was more convinced when he became a member of Evolution...

Edge-He always has and still to me screams midcarder. Sorry, but he makes a terrible champ.
Orton's current reign-After hearing all the stunts he'd been pulling backstage, after having a pretty dull first run and how he'd been buried in the midcard rubble for awhile I didn't expect him to get another run...but he isnt doing too bad this time around.
CM Punk-Too soon, thats all im saying.
Christian Cage-First time I turned on TNA I saw him with the strap and thought TNA must be in trouble if he had the belt, but he hasn't done too bad really.
Kane-Didn't expect him to beat Stone Cold even though it was first blood and he had a mask...then again Austin beat him on Raw the next night so...oh well.
Rey-When I read that he won the rumble I just thought "...what the hell?!" I KNEW he would do it from there though but...what?!?!
Benoit-I KNEW he would eventually, but I wasn't expecting a win at Mania over HHH and HBK.

Back in 1996, he was trounced by everyone and their mother. Also, his gimmick wasn't thaat exciting, his mic skils were OK-ish, and his ring ability wasn't at the level of Owen or Bret Hart. I honestly thought he'd be released alongside Duke "The Dumpster" Droese Edit - Thowback beat me to it

Diesel's first WWE title win came out of nowhere. From Bret Hart to Bob Backlund to Diesel in 5 days.

Johnny Nitro Bradshaw Edge Khali
The first 3 cos they went from tag teams, even though all three were fairly successful, I would never have imagined members of them making the transition into World Champion.
The latter because he sucks.

Edge- he makes a terrible champ. Orton - he isnt doing too bad this time around. I'd actually say that Edge is the best chamion in a long time and Orton (based on his current reign) is one of the worst.

I never would've thought Rey would get the World Heavyweight Championship for the simple fact that he wasn't and isn't a Heavyweight.

Great Khali has the look but what exactly makes him great? Had he been active in the era of Hulkamania he never would've gone over. I must admit I did enjoy Khali's victory celebation, corny to the max and straight out of Bollywood.

Orton and Cena. They both had that Wrestling game Default character look you start out with when you wanted to create a wrestler.
Exspecially,Cena when he first started the rap gimmick with the fuzzy hats with Bull B. I thought he would end up another 2 cool mid card jobber!

Howabout Backlund's last title reign? I never thought that red headed old man would beat Bret for the title in a million years.

I was quite suprised by Brock lesner's first Title Reign, Heres a guy who had only been in WWE for what 4 - 5 Months?, Before you know it he has the main Strap.
I definatly agree with JBL aswell, Here's a guy who just afew Months before hand was apart of a Midcard Tag Team, Definatly didnt see that one coming.

Regarding Edge, Benoit, Jericho, and Rey, I wasn't shocked by any of their world title wins, because they generated a "big-time" aura with me. In fact, Rey's was the least suprising for me taking into account the merchandise he moved.
JBL, Eddie's and Cena's wins actually suprised me, but it was way before they won the WWE Title (for Eddie it was when he won his feud with Chavo, and with Cena it was when he introduced the US spinner belt).
