i've just never gotten into his character. what little i saw of his rapping i thought was very lame. his intensity in a current promo looks forced. you can tell he is overjoyed to be a pro wrestler, so i think anger is a tough one for him. i think he is very athleteic and strong. but he looks like he's holding back. guys like umaga do a better job of coming off as strong than he does. i dont think his music feels like a champions music. just nothing about him really screams 'world champion' to me. he tends to forget to sell a huge bump he just took, after just a few seconds.obviously, all just my opinions. on the other hand, he has worked hard to get where he is. he respects his job, and probably the work of people who came before him as well. but overall i dont think his is any more than average in the ring, and i personally dont care for him on the mic.
he also dresses and looks like a lot of suburban kids probably want to look, so i think that has a great deal to do with his popularity. i dont hate him at all, more or less indifferent.

i must be a hater because i dont enjoy his character, his limited wrestling ability, his dull mic work/over the top acting or his superman push, he seems to legit love the business so i do respect him for that but im in no rush to see him on my tv again That's exactly how I feel about him. I'd also like to add that I think his time away from wrestling has been good for wrestling, since maybe the WWE will see that other people can be entertaining in the main event spot.

His Mic work isn't quite as fun as when he was a rising midcarder heel, but much better lately as serious face rathaer than lame joke toting face.
I too jumped off the cena bandwagon a couple months into his reign (notably when he showed up on Raw), but grew to respect this past 2007 as he kept putting on surprisingly good matches with people I didn't expect him to.
I do have to disagree with one argument. While Basic Thuganomics was the superior theme music, the Time is is Now is appropriate for his current main event status (and his championship reign) as the beginning dramatic first few seconds (I don't even know what that is, a synthesizer piano key just being held down longer than it should?) and the trumpets do make me think someone special is coming down to the ring.

While I don't think his current theme or his former themes are neccesarily bad, I just don't like his character, and how he has become the 'overcome the odds-Superman-babyface'. So whenever I hear it, I just hate it.
It's like Alex de Large from Clockwork Orange. When I hear his music, I wanna throw myself out of a window.

I think RAW has been much more entertaining with out him. Cena was VERY stale on top just prior to his injury. Seriously if WWE brings him back as the unstoppable Super Cena character I will stop watching RAW again, it is that simple from my POV. I have zero interest in reliving the past two and a half years of domination by an unstoppable rapper. I do think he might make a good heel though, given the right storyline.
