I'm not looking for "JaWn CEna SUXOOORZZZZZ!" or any of that crap, i want a fair and balanced discussion on what your opinions of him are. With his current absence from the ring, I think it's obvious that Raw can carry on without him, the emergence of Jeff Hardy as a main event player has neatly filled the void. That being said, Cena is talented. Like Hogan and Austin before him, he doesn't have the most sophisticated moveset, but he has an intensity that is unmatched on the current roster.
He's proved recently that he can carry an excellent match (HBK on Raw in England) and his promos have moved beyond the poopoo jokes he was recently so hated for. It appears that Vince has pinned his hopes on him to be tha main plaeyer of the remainder of this decasde, and i don't necessarily think that's a bad thing. At least thats my opinion. What's yours?

I like Cena, I think he is rightfully WWE`s posterboy and he gets a lot of stick he doesn`t deserve.
He is good in ring, despite what the haters say, reliable on the microphone and had a near 2 year stretch of good-great matches without a break.
He needs some more credible opponents, but he is deserving of his spot, and has run with the ball big time.

You cannot give him grief for the way WWE books him, he gets a lot of unfair flack in my view.

I agree with you there. Personally, I'm a Cena fan and find him very entertaining. He is definitly the guy Vince has pinned his hopes on and truly worthy of a main event player. He has the charisma that so many of the current superstars lack as well.

Whilst I'm not a Cena fan, I do disagree with quite a lot of the crap he gets.

I like him. I wish we got more of his wwe.com 5 questions personality on tv. He was freaking hilarious in those. He also puts on some big matches on big events. He definately deserves to be the poster boy of the WWE.

I think he's a good wrestler and can be entertaining at times. Seeing him with the WWE title for the almost 2 and a half years straight seemed ridiculous to me though. Since his hiatus Raw has been much more entertaining in the main event scene without always knowing Superman Cena would prevail every time. When he comes back they should just let him do like Triple H and HBK do now since he won't need the WWE title to be over... just work high profile feuds and get the occassional title shot and maybe a few brief runs, but never hold the title as long as he did for those 2 1/2 years again.

I just hate his damn character. His matches were getting better and better and he seems like a good enough person, but the character is a cliche.

I think he's exceptional in the ring, sans the "beating all comers" thing... I mean, a lead face in his vein has to win a lot to keep him strong as a superman figure for the kids, but he should be losing non-title matches, taking evil beatdowns, etc. Think they were going the right way with the Orton feud, which I hope they resume down the line.

i must be a hater because i dont enjoy his character, his limited wrestling ability, his dull mic work/over the top acting or his superman push, he seems to legit love the business so i do respect him for that but im in no rush to see him on my tv again

Good wrestler and seems to be, by all accounts, a great guy.
I just am sick of him on my tv.
To say I have missed him at all would a lie.

I'd have to agree with some others.
Outside the ring, he seems like a great guy (and like jmac said, I friggin' miss 5 Questions) and in the ring, he's really solid. But I agree that that Superman push the WWE gave him helped noone in the long run. You can make a big star without him steamrolling through everyone.

Haters are the JAWN CENA SUXXXXX people who were happy he got injured.

Like the guy personally, even think he's a better wrestler than given credit for (although that STF is horrible), just could not stand the way he was booked since 2005.

Personally, I felt that John Cena was rammed down our throats way too much. It's never good to see a wrestling company put all their eggs into one basket because if it goes away before it should, then they're in a bit of a mess. For example, TNA's original "Bound For Glory" PPV plans were shelved because Hulk Hogan never came through for them)
Anyhoo, back to Cena. While he may not be the worst (I felt he was better as an upper mid carder heel) he did not, in my mind, have the "X Factor" that Austin or Hogan had and WWE were trying to push him as such.
Maybe I'm looking through rose tinted glasses (chances are I am as I didn't fully appreciate Austin during the attitude era but looking back, his fued with McMahon was great stuff!) but when I saw Austin or Rock or Hogan as WWE Champions I thought "yea that looks right"
When Cena had the belt I thought "what the hell is he doing as champ??!". Having him hold it for so long was what pissed me off about it the most as it was purely money driven! Keep the spinner belt going as long as possible so we can sell sell sell.
Wrestlers should be given the World Title for Wrestling ability (Hart, Flair, Benoit, Jericho) or getting really over with the crowd (which Cena was not. He was being booed left right and centre) or generally putting butts in seats (Mick Foley). Basically it should be given to those who deserve it, not just those who can be a cash cow that will be milked dry.

I respect your opinion, but I think Cena was the top choice for champ at the time, although he shouldn't have run with the belt so long - if he wasn't over, he wouldn't be selling the merch. It's more like he wasn't over with a significant but vocal group of the crowd.

It seems the older and smark audience were the ones who resented him. Perhaps they saw his "push" and thought "Oh no, it's gonna be Hulk Hogan all over again!" His title run was ridiculously long. I always found it funny that in 2002 people were complaining about HHH holding onto the belt. At WM22 those same people were praying for HHH to win!

I used to be a Cena fan before he won the title the first time. After that happened, his matches turned into something that a 12 year old playing SD vs Raw would do. Same moves, same order, over and over and over again. I was already bored with the fact that the WWE doesn't let the main titles change hands on TV, but after about 3 PPVs, I knew it wasn't going to happen for a very very long time, and even if it did, it wouldn't be clean. That's what I dislike most about Cena. It's his booking. At least Hogan jobbed cleanly to Warrior. And maybe it's because we've seen a lot of young, green talent that keeps the older guys around, but there just weren't enough people in the title scene to mix it up and keep it interesting. It didn't help that he had another T shirt for sale every month, or that he was a walking merchandise counter. He was the WWE's poster boy, and they rode that one-trick pony into the ground.

I'm gonna ignore the fact that I hate the Cena character for a second. Taking away my hatred for the character...the guy just isn't any good. The moves he does do look horrible (he can't even throw a punch) and his regular moveset looks very fake and flat out pathetic at times.
I think they really got worried when the bigger stars all left and that's why they decided on this guy. They could have found anyone else, pushed them to the moon, and would have been just as successful with him.
There's nothing special about Cena. He'll never be as big as they would like him to be...no matter how much they force him on the public.

Go to a live show or an autograph signing, he is OVER! His merchandise sells, his matches are good. The FU in my eyes, has looked a lot better recently, and his STF-U was improving as well. But, thats right I forgot, he cant do a 720 splash or a springboard Shooting star press, so he cant work! Sorry...
