I think it's because people get really tired of TNA which should more than anything focus on their own product and why a good majority of the viewers they have don't buy their PPV's.
But instead they would rather go "WWE, WWE WWE WWE" and basically mention WWE is much as possible try to run angles based off the WWE anything to get a half a second of being looked at.

Because ROH is the smark darling, ergo they can't get bashed for the same thing TNA can be bashed for. Besides running a show in Orlando, exactly what have ROH and TNA done that's the same? ROH doesn't even use the same strategy with competition - they're isolationists, not antagonizers.

I love how people have been up in arms over TNA's "stunts" this weekend, like holding a live Impact and now the blimp thing. Why do I have the feeling that if they did absolutely nothing people would be still be ripping them for blowing a chance at getting their name out there? O you know the deal, when a company's hot they can do not wrong. When they're cold, they can do no right. They just have a lot of PR work to do to restore their image to something not laughable. A couple good decisions and shows isn't going to make up for months/years of stupid booking and business decisions.

That's the whole reason Team 3-D and VKM feuded was over who made Vince McMahon more money, they used continuity of Kurt wanting BEASTIALITY sex with Sharmell, among other things...

No-one is complaining about TNA's live Impact in itself, or at least shouldn't. They are complaining about TNA's most wonderful choice to show Robbie McAllister on camera, with a name label on the screen, no less, and get him in big trouble when they knew it would happen.
They're also complaining about TNA's "BAWWW!" news article about not being allowed to wander into the WWE sound stage. An article which existed only to go "Look at us, we're rebels!".
And this latest plane fiasco, if it indeed true, is another drop in the bucket of crap as of late.
Yeah, the WWE did all sorts of childish crap like this too, mainly in the Attitude Era and before that. That's great but it doesn't nullify the rubbish coming from another company this time around.

Now if they dropped TNA papers like the nWo used to back in the day, that would make an Impact (pardon the pun). And over the loudspeakers, play "Total Total Total Total Total Non Stop Action Wrestling".

I'm confused, a lot of people on this thread are slagging off TNA for flying a blimp above wrestlemania, has it been done yet? Erm well now, its been reported on the internet by the same people who've been reporting the demise of TNA for years, that JJ would come back at eveyr PPv and become champ, that Joe was leaving for WWE a jillion times. Wait and slag it off for doing something rather than assuming newz is correct again and using that as an excuse to slag it off. Grow up.

I still don't understand why advertising your product is a BAD thing. "It's just the way they go about it." Go about what? The plane isn't going to land in the ring, the plane isn't going to land next to the entrance way or in the parking lot. They are advertising their product on cabs, and now they are gonna have a plane fly over the show. Big friggin deal.
People complain that TNA doesn't advertise their product, now that they are taking advantage of Orlando being the center of the wrestling world by advertising their show/product, its bush league and stupid on TNA's part. Whatever.

That's just wrong! This isn't a business, it's 'the business' where we must have respect for made up rules.

it's false. according to an article on wwe.com, due to the height of the pyro and lighting tonight, all arial vehicles in the immediate area have been grounded. therefore, if TNA does do this, they'll either a)get arrested or b)get blown up during batista's cabbage patch dance.

To think you can go against your bosses wishes and go watch the competition and not face any trouble is pretty ignorant

Whatever. Agreed. It's called targeted advertising. Flying a plane with a sign attached to it, is actually a reasonably cheap form of advertising. They're flying it over 70 000 WRESTLING fans. It's no different than Budweiser advertising at football games. They're not piggybacking, they just realize that a lot of football fans like beer.

While last year’s indoor display – inside Detroit’s Ford Field – had elements that shot up to 150 feet in the air, this year’s outdoor pyro will tower to an astonishingly high 2,000 feet. That’s more than a third of a mile in the air — and high enough to literally affect flight patterns. “We had to contact the Federal Aviation Administration,” Bleggi admitted, “and tell them we’re shooting pyro, how high it’s going to go and exactly where it’s going to be, so they don’t have any planes flying overhead.” www.wwe.com/shows/wrestlemania/exclusives/sundaynightlights

I think the FAA would conclude the chances of Dixie Carter in a plane going all al-Qaeda and trying to take down the Citrus Bowl while Vince McMahon is there is low. point is - I doubt a small plane can fly that closer over a stadium full of people. Maybe im wrong. But somehow I kinda doubt it. The pliot has to submit a flight plan to the FAA, and more than likely, he's a professional for rent. Now, here's the real question; Is TNA better off trying to hijack the WWE's audiance, developing it's own audiance or some combination of both.

It's no different than Budweiser advertising at football games. They're not piggybacking, they just realize that a lot of football fans like beer. Don't they typically advertise for it, though? Honestly, I think this would be rather silly to try to do, if they did. I think most of those in the audience would already know about Impact. They'd have to do it really early, before it got dark. Most of it's going to be at night with a lot of lighting down at the ring. I doubt anyone would be able to see a fly-banner to begin with unless it was flown dangerously low to the stadium. Even if they could, I imagine the light in the stadium would make it hard to see in the sky. If they wanted to, meh, I don't see why not. I thought it was tasteless to do the whole "WWE STAR" on Impact thing, given that they very well could have cost him his job. But advertising during an event like this is pretty much a given. I just don't see this way as being very smart. They could leave mountains of pamplets outside of the security area and it would probably work better than trying a flyover.
