Spider Man 3. Thread over. I'll second that,Also X3. What was so bad with superman returns? I actually liked it. Even Rottentomatoes gaved it a good rating. Luthor in another land grab scheme? No epic villain to fight from the comic. I thought it was ok. After watching the Bruce Timm and company animated series in the late 90's Superman Returns just did not cut it. Oh and they were afraid to say Truth justice and the American way. I hope they reboot it and reboot it well.

Its Alive! Its Huge! Cloverfield owns this thread. Seeing that preview before Transformers was astonishing ... spending from July - January watching it over and over, trying to figure out what was going on ... following every little aspect of the viral marketing, from Slusho to Tagruato. Characters had MySpace pages plus the whole "Beth Loves Rob" videos ... it was simply phenominal to be apart of 1-18-08.
Then you went and seen the movie and realized that the entire six months you spent following all the viral campaign didn't mean jack sh*t as next to nothing was explained. Couple that with the fact that overall... it was just an average film at best and you've got basically the epitome of "trailer being better than film" syndrome.

I loved it! I know two people personally that hated it. Both of their reasons are the same "I hate monster movies" Well DUH, then why go see a Monster Movie?

I think the biggest complaint about Cloverfield that I hear was that "They didn't explain anything" Well no shit sherlock.
I found it interesting that there wasn't a scene where Jeff Goldblum pops out and says "Here's what happened."

I LOVED Cloverfield!
Though, I have to give this to The Village. The trailer was NOTHING like the movie. The trailer was for a horror film, the movie was a romance film.

There was a movie called Red Eye. The trailer made it seem like it was going to be the next great psychopath movie on a plane. I walked out of the theater after 40 minutes. I think I remember it staring the guy that played Scarecrow. Sorry if I don't remember much, I tried to delete that part of my brain. I freakin' love "Red Eye." It's one of the rare movies that doesn't need eighteen dead bodies to feel like a "suspense" film - the bulk of the movie's suspense is dependent on the two actors, alone on the plane, for the film's entire second act - and it works, because Cillian Murphy and Rachel McAdams had so much onscreen chemistry. Red Eye is great!

Jarhead. I never saw the movie though, because I had already read the book and knew it wasn't your typical Rambo-like war movie. But almost everyone I know came away from that disappointed.

There is one trailer that is driving me insane now (in a good way) that I hope doesn't suck:Watchmen. God I hope it lives up to the trailer.
Episode 1 was let-down. Not that it was totally awful, but seeing the previews really made it look a lot better than it ended up being.

Scooby Doo.
That teaser did more things right then the movies ever could.
'Honorable' Mentions go to Underworld and 10,000 BC

Underworld was a good film, but not as AWESOME the trailer made it.

Scooby Doo. That teaser did more things right then the movies ever could. 'Honorable' Mentions go to Underworld and 10,000 BC In the case of Underworld, it's easy to sell Kate Beckinsale in tight leather--and then people realize that that's all the movie has.

I have to admit, I didn't see "A Man Apart"... but due to the fact it had Vin Diesel in it, and I have an irrational hatred towards him, I'm only assuming this turned out to be a bad movie. What do I know though? It may have been good. Meh.
Anyway.... I KNOW I can't stand Puddle Of Mudd, so this still works in this thread. Anyway.... starting the trailer off with a couple false plot-lines. Where the girl is waiting for him to find he's not coming home.... then turns out he's standing right there. Showing them in a very positive light. Then making it out to be a movie where a group of cop-friends take down a cartel, not unlike XXX.... then transferring to a revenge story where someone goes after Diesel's family. It actually made this movie, and "Blurry" seem to make complete and total sense and come off awesome.

The Phantom Menace. I remember how big of a deal it was when it was first released. I'm not even a Star Wars fan and I loved it, it was so life affirming.
Then the movie was released and people weren't as enthusiastic.

Underworld was a good film, but not as AWESOME the trailer made it. The first scene in Underworld? Epic. Vampires and Warewolves fighting it out in a train station. THEN they started talking. And talking. And Talking. AAAAND talking. When you hype a movie about Vampires vs. Warewolves...you don't need a storyline. It's Vampires...vs. Warewolves...JUST HAVE THEM FIGHT, DAMNIT!

Indiana Jones & The kingdom of the crystal Skull
I saw the trailer and thought "Maybe I'm wrong, this looks great".
Then I saw it and thought "Nope, I was right".

Babylon AD... It looked so cool, and then it turned into a hodgepodge of crap.
Eragon. See above.

Have to mention Rob Zombie's HALLOWEEN here. Trailer was everything needed to get me hyped for the film...cause I really wanted to see what Rob was going to do with this.
Then....saw the movie and regretted wasting $9 on ticket.
I think trailers give away far too much nowadays. It's like they show the entire film in two minutes, up to and including spoilers and deaths.
HANCOCK should win an award, as should PRIMEVAL, for most intentionally misleading trailer.

I think Lakeview Terrace trailer looks awesome and has very unintentionally funny lines by Samuel L. Jackson. But I bet the film will be really, really terrible.

Spider Man 3. Thread over. I squealed like a girl when I saw this trailer, but alas, it was disappointing. Better than the second, but God this film could've been so much more.
