The Anarchy month was a lame and pathetic attempt to recapture the "magic" [puah] of the Shock TV at the highest point of the Attitude Era... Yeah and it worked, it got back upto 3.5 one week.

Wow, that was amazing! Live Sex Celebration got a 4, but was it really great? Was it something that could work more than once? Had it some sort of long-term value? No. And the "we wantz ratingz" is a silly and shortsighter argument. WWE could go on for decades without breaking the 4.0 wall again and still live, fat, on the revenues while keeping the Top Spot in the business. The 6s and 7s were coincidences. The sooner we accept it, the fewer "sky is falling" rants we'll have

Good point, Loki. Ratings are important, but merch and ticket sales are much more important to WWE. It's nice to get good ratings, but these things work in trends. Short term ratings bonuses aren't the answer.
WWE has been developing new stars in guys like Kofi, Bourne, and more, so as they develop followings, along with other guys who have benefitted from refocusing such as Kendrick, that will help. Besides, a lot of the main eventers are reaching the end of their rope, like Undertaker, so building new stars is important on many counts.

I can't wait till they drop below 2.0. See you in a decade few months, if the shows continue to be crap. Fixed!

I loved the period shortly after the draft - they were experimenting with shock ideas, and every champion on RAW was under 30... well, saying that, only Jericho is over 30 now with a belt. But still, they were being built up on youth, and you don't get that sense now.

Loki, you have pretty much summed up my thoughts.
You can't rehash the attitude era and touch taboos that in this era are no longer taboo.

Guys dont have to pay their dues anymore by working in different territories. Now they rush guys onto tv who are too green and arent experienced in working a lot of territories.

If less people are watching the show, what do you think is going to happen to attendance and ppv buys? What happened with attendance and ppv buys when wwe got 6 and 7 ratings? That isnt rocket science. Of course WWE has to develop new stars, but they should have showed they were serious about developing new stars. CM Punk won the world title in the summer but appeared in the midcard, got little mic time and didnt even wrestle in the match where he lost the title. How is that getting him over any more than before winning the title? That just showed me that they didnt want to take any chances with CM Punk and that protecting guys like Edge,Batista and Kane was more important than pushing a new star to a top position. That way of thinking is why WWE is in the stale position it is in. Every year WWE needs to make a new star in a top position. The more they do that, the more they can get stale performers at the end of the line off the camera.

Tell me one occasion in which KANE was protected.... ONE! That's absurd... Do you actually think WWE are willingly and gleefully choosing not to push a Can't Miss Talent, just not to piss estrablished guys off? Sorry, but the smarkitude in such idea is too much. Punk had been more or less pushed since Day One. He got the WHC belt after what, two years, on tenure, after a longish ECW reign and a MitB win. Just because he isn't having a Sammartino-style reign and he's not feuding with the Champion at the moment, it doesn't mean he'll end up tagging with Val Venis jobbing to new guys in a month or two. New Stars need TIME to be established and accepted. Oh, and speaking of bad ratings+making new stars... What about 1992-1995? Plenty of new stars in the making, with few or no Older Guys around to hold them down... How where the ratings? How comes that is considered the lowest point of the post-WrestleMania period? New Talents need Old Talents as measuring stick. Otherwise how could we tell how "good" they are? Geez, this place is getting smarkier every day.
