I am shocked, I think it was the right move but still a shock. Makes you realize that anyone really can be fired. Except Wade Phillips. He's too awesome to be let go! Hey now..The Bills fans here would love to have that guy back here compared to what they have had since he left/was fired I don't remember which.

Well it was pretty obvious, was anybody talking about the Texans before their win streak? Well, let me answer that by asking you this..... How much wood would a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood? The answer is pretty obvious.

Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz will reportedly be Scott Pioli's first choice to replace Romeo Crennel in Cleveland if Pioli lands the Browns' GM job.

The Bills looked good until Edwards took a cheapshot in Zona and never got back to 100% for the rest of the season. I'm not totally convinced Jauron is a horrible coach, it'd just be nice if Buffalo had a season where everyone stayed healthy. There are better candidates out there, but at least his team plays hard for him.

Any thoughts were Shannahan lands? I would think maybe the Jets It will hinge on his requirements as far as personnel goes. The Jets are an ideal fit for him, but I wouldn't be totally surprised to see him take a year off. He's got 3 years to collect $20 million before he's too concerned. That's likely going to mean Denver is going to avoid top-tier coaching alternatives and get someone on the cheap (relatively speaking).

Houston needs to get a QB and RB, while Dallas is just fine with their most talented team in the NFL and awesome head coach in Wade Phillips, right?

The Jets don't seem willing (at least not publicly yet) to give a coach (Cowher and I assume Shanahan) full control of player personal and I would think that would hurt them landing either one of those guys.
As for Jauron, Mr. Backlund I agree with you about Edwards. But part of the problem too was the media got so hyped about the Bills record when they had to squeak by the Raiders and Rams who were both ready to can their coaches. I think he's an ok coach, Wilson wouldn't pay for someone like Cowher so might as well stick with what you got rather than taking yet another step back.

On ESPN radio they were talking about who could be the next head coach in Denver and one of the names they brought up was Jason Garrett

On ESPN radio they were talking about who could be the next head coach in Denver and one of the names they brought up was Jason Garrett I think Denver will likely go for a low-cost candidate, or at least one they see as a value considering they're on the line for 3 years and $20 million to Shanahan. Garrett may fit this mold, but his pricetag is escalated based on what Jerry is paying him currently and a lot of his luster from last season is gone with this past year's performance. Quite a few people think he's been found out, his starting QB included. I wouldn't be too shocked to see Jim Fassell, Kevin Gillbride or even someone like a Matt Cavanaugh get brought in.

Oh, f*** you Denver I despise it when franchises turn on their most successful coach when they are in a slump.

I'm guessing Shanahan will end up in New York if he doesn't take time off which is what I can see him doing. It wouldn't surprise me to see him in Cleveland either.

I've only been following Wade since he has been with Dallas, I think he's done a good job in the two years he has been there, could they do better, sure, could they do worse, sure. I think it falls on the players at the end of the day for a teams success and failures So, wait. You say Wade has done a good job in Big D, despite coaches not meaning much when it comes to the games? Then how do you determine the coach's success? If they have nothing to do with the outcome of the game, how can they be successful? Oh, snork you Denver I despise it when franchises turn on their most successful coach when they are in a slump. Me too. This guy lead you to two Super Bowl rings. A couple of years and you don't go all the way, and now you are worth nothing. I mean, can you imagine Bill Belichick in, like, a Seahawks hoody?

What kind of trade do you suggest, oh Mr. Wise One? New QB, I'd suggest Vick after he gets out of jail, until then, trade for a decent back up (Casell, Brady Quinn, Matt Lienert) I think Cassel's backup days are long gone. And he's shown in 1 season he's a better QB than Michael Vick in his prime let alone Michael Vick after 18 months in prison.

Wouldn't go as far to say he was better then Vick in his prime but his benchwarming days are over. That being said where could he land in the offseason or will he stay in New England? Oh and the 49ers fire Mike Martz sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3800703

Franchised and traded. The Patriots have shown Evil Vince McMahon like mastery early on here. Apparently the NFL frowns on players being franchised just for the sake of being traded. So my guess is the Patriots were the ones who floated the rumor that "Tom is behind schedule" which contradicted another report that Tom was AHEAD of schedule. And TMZ just also reported that from everyone they've gotten a hole of in Tom/Gisele's circle, he's defintely ahead of schedule. So the Patriots could possibly being playing up the "We dont know if our QB will be ready to play so we need to franchise Matt Cassel" card, get the NFL and any players union greivence claims off their backs and trade him out of the division.
