It depends. If the crowd is getting heavily involved, I don't care what they are saying for the most part. If they are just trying to be dicks, I cannot stand it. The douches in the crowd can say the most horrible things sometimes.

I like the foreign crowds (any crowd really) who cheer for who they want and just enjoy the show. However the uber-snarky Hammerstein like crowds with the "Change the channel", "You snorked up" and, "You can't wrestle" chants annoy me.

I honestly all the little chants like the you smurfed up is funny when it's big I like all of those cities where the smarks yell everything it makes my TV viewing experience more entertaining. The WHAT! thing isn't close to funny.

I say I'm pretty much against it, but I do have one exception, and that's when Batista is involved. When it's directed at Batista, be as much of a /b/tard-esque douche as you want to be.
Otherwise, cut it out.

its obnoxious and a trademark of jackasses, cheer for your home town hero all you want but the morons who try to divert attention from the show onto themselves should be thrown out

I would never go to a match in Philly. They think you pay to see THEM.

I like wild crowds. I just don't like "You can't wrestle".
And "WHAT?" is funny. It always was funny. And it always will be funny.

I don't mind it as i feel it can definitely add to a show however i do despise the "what" chants, at first it was ok now it's just annoying and lame.
Oh and i agree that the WWE should be less patronising when coming to the UK.

I love rowdy crowds, gives the shows a whole new atmosphere. If it bothers you that much when you're watching it on tv, you're paying too much attention.

Sometimes the crowd takes a mediocre/decent event and makes it great, such as ONS 1 and 2.

They can boo or cheer whoever they like, but when they start doing the wave or start randomly singing something that has nothing to do with the show, it gets annoying fast. In other words, you hate Toronto crowds.

i don't see how people chanting things like ORTON SWALLOWS or GO snork CENA directed at Orton... while he's a heel... in a match against a popular face Angle is a bad thing... they're expressing their hate (which is what Orton's trying to get) but in a unique way.
so... if its funny and unique and doesn't take away from the show... like most of the chants from ONS2 (Lita's a heel... they chant she's a crackwhore... thats a good thing isn't it? they hate the heel) then its fine by me... but i really dislike the WHAT and you cant wrestle chants... at least the others can give you a laugh... these ones are just trying to disrupt the performance.
so... it depends on whats being chanted i guess

I would never go to a match in Philly. They think you pay to see THEM. Actually, most Philly Smarks don't go to the Philly WWE shows anymore. You mostly get WWE fans from the outlying areas up to 2 hours away. Hence why you actually hear people cheer for Cena now.

Loud crowds, are good crowds. I don't care what they're chanting, who they're chanting at, ect, if they're making noise, it's always a good thing. The ONLY exception I've ever seen to this was during an Austin Aries/KENTA match where a handfull of asshats tried to keep a "LET'S GO KENTA/AUSTIN ARIES" chant going throughout the whole match.

I think it depends on the situation. In the rare cases where a match is damn near unwatchable, a smarky crowd can be quite enjoyable (Goldberg/Lesnar at WMXX comes to mind). On the other hand, when two guys are knocking themselves out and the crowd is shouting "boring" through the whole match, it can be aggravating.
However, I don't think it is ever okay to bring a wrestler's personal life into it. People who use the "I bought my ticket so I can say whatever I want" excuse for heckling guys about their divorce or their stint in rehab aren't nearly as entertaining as they think they are.

To defend the Hammerstein deal with Big Show and Batista, as I said before, sometimes you have to book to the audience, and if certain wrestlers who are put over as babyface are getting a terrible reaction, then you have to alter your card to appeal to the crowd. You can't just say, this is what we have, like it or f*** off.
WWE are trying, like, in Toronto, they had Cena team with Trish, which helped Cena somewhat. I mean, you weren't going to get him a great ovation of Jesus Christ came out and talked about how big of a fan he was of John Cena. But, at least they tried. I don't think Bret Hart could make them turn positively to Cena.
The One Night Stand events were booked very well. Cena was booked in the right way that night, as was Orton. They did everything to help the ECW television show that was upcoming, and that was the main objective of the second One Night Stand.

I'm against it for fans who aren't there to watch and enjoy the show, but want to make themselves the show. You paid your money to be there and see the show, not the other way around. The spotlights on the wrestlers, not on you, and for the record - unless you ever actually get into the business - it never will be.
A hot crowd is fantastic. A 'smart mark' crowd trying to 'get themselves over' by doing a bunch of obnoxious bullshit is sad and pathetic.

Seeing is how a few crowd moments I was in attendence for have been mentioned I will say that it should be a mix
For the infamous WWECW at the Hammerstein the crowd was its very good for the opening Hardcore tag match with Dreamer/Sandman vs Test/Knox, CM Punk and Kurt Angle got a huge reaction but nobody who bought a ticket a month in advance (myself included) wanted an ECW main event to include Batista and wanted to show their ire to the powers that be to not do that again
At WMXX Lesnar and Goldberg obviously didnt give a crap about there match and I believe if it werent for the crowd the viewer at home would be left with absolutely no cause of amusement
That being said however, some crowds can be downright awful with their chants (Boring during any match where the wrestlers arent hitting eacg other with chairs or jumping off of ladders)
