I'm just done watching some bits of the Edge disc set, and boy... am I happy I didn't buy it! Don't get me wrong, the matches are awesome, and there are little gems like his first dark match against Christian, his first IC win and a great bout with the late great Owen Hart. BUT BUT BUT WHERE THE HELL IS THE DOCUMENTARY??All we got are like 2 minutes about his indy days, and a brief introduction every now and then. And most of it is in character. I mean, WTF? Edge has a lot of interesting stories and he's a funny guy [that's what I got from the feedback about his book], as he proves in the commentary to his Bonus Matches. Why didn't they bother to give us a bit of a documentary? We got it for active Superstars like Shawn Michaels [TWICE], Eddie, Benoit... The Hardys got a nice little documentary, for crying out loud! If that's the new trend for WWE Box-sets, they could as well stop trying. If I want a Best Of... collage, I'll do it myself. Thoughts?

I was super excited about it just FOR the matches. They'll get around to it someday. Guy is in the height of his career. I would have waited to do the Hardy doc. to be honest.

I wonder why do an Edge DVD now. As MGH said, the guy is in the prime of his career. I'd rather wait until his career is over and we get an ultimate Edge collection of some kind.
Same goes for Michaels, Mysterio, Cena et al.

A few observations of the dvd... actually, observations on one mattch...
1) I forgot how great the Edge vs. Matt Hardy street fight was! Although Matt was made to look pretty weak during most of the match... it was an awesome fight.
2) How hot was Lita? Wow! I almost forgot how hot she was!
3) If you look towards the end of the Hardy/Edge street fight... when Hardy has the ladder outside of the ring... if you look front row you'll see Big John from the first Tough Enough (he was a trainer right?) and who else? You see a plain clothed Hornswaggle watching the match. This must have been during his training.
Overall, I really liked the DVD. It had a good collection of matches.

I just got mine in the mail today, should watch it in a couple of days, but I knew the documentary was gonna suck or be nonexistent buying it. But the main thing that pisses me off that I just read is that he is in character, ?!?!?!.... But the trend should continue, SCSA-Fail Rock-Fail HHH-Fail
I didn't buy the Hardyz one, but I'm not going to get anymore of these mediocre dvd's anymore. I only got Edge's because it's Edge. Had it been Kane or Undertaker, I would have easily passed
And it's ridiculous cause they are just going to keep coming out with these half ass dvd's till they officially retire and then they will have the epic dvd. When Austin and HHH both bury their own dvd, that should send a message. I don't mind it with Edge though cause I'll still buy his future Dvd's. But to come out with garbage for Austin, HHH, and Rock was almost like a slap in the face
On a brighter note, Kurt's dvd was really well done. That's the way the E should do there dvds

I liked it. I think I'm definitely enjoy it, what I'm saying is that they are dropping the ball by the way these Dvd's are being produced

Flair's DVD thankfully got a documentary but most of the DVDs have been small interview segments proceeding match. I hate it. It's sloppy as hell and it's never enough.

An unrelated question, but is there a documentary for the new Eddie Guerrero DVD?

If it sells, then they aren't dropping the ball. If it doesn't sell, then it doesn't sell and they can discount it.
People buying the DVDs of retired stars and long-ago feuds expect kayfabe to be broken. But to expect a DVD of a current star or more recent occurrences to be done in a vacuum, rather than play to the audience, is a bit naive. It only hurts the product to break character completely, when people who buy these things are likely perceived by WWE to be more purely marks.
"I love Edge/Kane! A DVD with his stuff from before I was a fan? Awesome! I'm going to buy it and watch it!"
That is the target audience for this type of DVD. More hardcore or long-term fans already have/have seen most of these matches, and remember a lot about them. But random PPV or Raw from 2001 is not easily available, and not worth producing for minor sales. So treat it like the old 55 minutes/4 match VHS tapes they used to put out. Makes financial and business sense.

No Doc=No Buy for me.
Hell, I've seen any match I want to see from these guys. The documentaries are great.

Frankly i loved the Edge DVD, and i think the WWE did an alright job. I actually have ZERO problem with them putting out an Edge DVD right now. If he keeps having great matches and there is no DVD, then down the road there will not be enough run to get all the best matces on a DVD. I like the structure by having a 30 match DVD now, then when the career is over have a Doc DVD with the rest of the great matches. Guys like HBK could almost have a DVD out every year cause he keeps having great matches. MY only problem with the DVD's now is no Beniot. Alot of great matches are being left off cause of this. Other wise i can't wait to see that 30 match DVD of HBK 2 or 3 year down the road we he calls it quits.

If they did a doc earlier, it would suck without Christian.

I hate the DVD style of having them talk for like a minute, then a full match, come back, talk for about a minute, then a full match, that they've been doing lately.
I prefer the 1 to 2 hour documentary, and then the matches on a second (or third) disc.
I don't like it all together like that.
