ESPNews is reporting that A-Rod acknowledges using steroids during his time in Texas (2001-2003). There is going to be an exclusive interview with Peter Gammons on Sportscenter at 6pm EST.

I respect him for admitting it. But he's still a douchebag

I'm a little mixed on that. On one hand he admited to it. On the other hand he only admited to it because he got caught and he still doesn't seem like he actually learned anything from it. Like he still doesn't actually care. From the attitude he gave from it, I can easily see him doing it again.

I hate to be "this guy" but I have a very hard time believing that he suddenly stopped just in time for him to go to the Yankees in 04
And before someone says "why would he lie about when he stopped?" It's simple, trying to save face with NY fans/media

I actually agree with you Slickness. Like I said, judging by his non-chalant attitude towards it, I wouldn't doubt it if he STILL does it.

I believe if anyone in this game has played clean, it's him. There are others, I realize that, I just don't follow their carrers as much so I can't really comment.

I respect him for admitting it. Well in reality, what else is he supposed to do? He can't go on denying it, and he can't avoid the topic. He has no other options.

He admitted it because he had to, or look like an even bigger jerk. He didn't come off as sorry or like he cared at all though. He basically came off with the attitude of "I did it. Get over it. I'll do it again if I want."

He learned from Bonds, McGwire, and Palmero. Denying it was only gonna make it worse. *waits for people to come in and start with the "some of your precious Red Sox have to be guilty too!!!!" argument*

Denying it was only gonna make it worse. This is true. I like how he says part of the reason he doped was because of the pressure of playing in Texas. If the pressure of playing in Arlington pushed him to use steroids, I don't want to know what he's pumping into his body as a result of the pressure in NY.

He'll never admit to doing in with the Yankees, because that would make him look like crap. Not only would he be viewed as an underachiever (in terms of results) but he'd be viewed as a *cheating* underachiever

Im pretty sure it's Jeter that's getting pumped into his body www.instantrimshot.com/If he did use steroids in NY, wouldn't he have been caught by now since they actually did testing during his time in NY?

Basically anyone who played for the Rangers is a suspect because that seems to be the real epicenter of it.
Dont be so sure of Chipper Jones, I mean right now no one is above suspcison. I mean who would have guessed Alex Sanchez, Randy Velarde, Chuck Knoblauch, and even A-Rod.

Couldn't go anywhere without the paparazzi following close behind. Getting in trouble for dating all those big time Texas celeberties, like Madonna. Dont be so sure of Chipper Jones, I mean right now no one is above suspcison. I mean who would have guessed Alex Sanchez, Randy Velarde, Chuck Knoblauch, and even A-Rod. I'm pretty sure of Chipper, and always will be until proven wrong. If I am ever proven wrong it will be an extremely sad day for me. The thing about Chipper is he's been steady his whole carrer. He's never really had these surges where out of no where he goes from 30-ish HR's to seasons of 50,60,70.

I'm sure there were people who felt the same way about A-Rod until Saturday. Numbers dont mean anything, the first big guy out was Rafael Palmiero who was the king of consistency. Hell for all we know Chipper could be so steady because hes been doing it the whole time. We just dont know.
