So with the new NEWZ rule? Does that mean if the rule was applied in the past, NEWZ threads like MVP and Screwdriver or Christian and Malaysian Slaves are against the rule?

I have a stupid question. So we have a size limit for pictures in our signatures. Hypotheticaly, could someone post a wall of text that would be taller than the pic limit? I mean, I know someone could, but would it be allowed? I have no intention of doing this, nor do I know why I thought of it. Just curious is all.

If I'm not mistaken, there's a character limit for signatures. I remember it being a bit of a problem at a time when I wanted to have both a picture, text and a few quotes all at the same time.

I'd not abide a wall of text as a sig, no. Not if it exceeded those dimensions. If I remember correctly, at one point someone did something like that just to annoy us after they had their chosen signature picture removed for being too large. It was just a scrollbomb though, like this: {Spoiler}. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . I don't typically hand out warnings for signatures as hotlinking pictures can be misleading as many websites resize the picture within the HTML so you have no idea how big the picture actually is... but scrollbombs serve no purpose but to troll, and that's against the rules.

What is the issue with sigs/pics for profiles? I used to have .gifs all the time and now they always get removed, yet I blatantly see people with much larger .gifs that are more complex than mine. What's the deal? Is there a reason why they can't be too big?

1) The rule is still only one image per signature. That means exactly what it says. If you have more than one set of Image tags in your signature, even if one is a 1KB button, it will be removed.
2) The maximum dimensions you can have for your picture BEFORE resizing is 800x600. Flipping those numbers is NOT an option. 600x600 is an ok size but 600x800 is not ok. 801x601 is not ok either.
3) The maximum file size for signatures AND avatars is 1MB (we'll even allow you up to 1.1MB if you're close.) If you're thinking of adding an image file that is more, it's going to be removed.

Do PMs abide by the same protocol as threads do now? What I mean is, after 100 pages, would you have to make a new PM?

It was slowing down the loading of pages for people, at least two of the people using it were using pictures that were 2+ megs, one of them was actually over 8 megabytes. However, if you were to right-click it and view image info, it would only come up as 0 bytes. I had to actually download every picture in the rotation to see how big they actually were. Not fun, I can assure you, though there was a particularly funny one with a Wheaties box that I liked (it was over 2 MB though).

Speaking of embeding tweets, is/was there a shortcut button in the posting screen to make it easier? Because I can't find anything of the sort on the posting page.

So to clarify what I last heard, the maximum amount of pages a thread can have before being locked is 100, right?

Any idea why smileys that are supposed to be animated, such as this one: ![::)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/eyesroll.png) or this one: ![(rofl)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/rofl.png) don't actually move? I tried in both Chrome & IE in Windows 7, but they don't do anything. I figured out which one it was on my phone finally by sending multiple pm's to myself, but this seems weird. Anyone else have this problem? Anyone have a solution? Oh, & if anyone got a random pm from me with a couple smileys in it, I probably goofed up... I'm NOT crazy, I swear. I'm not sane either, but...

Best guess is it is a Proboards thing. As far as I know we use the default smileys and there is nothing in the settings about turning any animation on or off.
