LOL @ this board. It's clear that Jericho lost his mind and completely crossed the line. I don't really care that he did or hold it against him. As most of the uber-smarky types that wait for wrestlers outside the arena, probably deserve a punch to the face. But you know that if were the exact same situation with Randy Orton or Batista, everyone here would be calling for their immediate release.

After reading 17 pages or so, they only definitive thing I feel is that those loser security guys should all get fired.

Obviously, I haven't read 17 pages of comments so I'm probably repeating what's already been said, but Jericho was physically provoked and was defending himself.
Sure, he's an asshole, but when security isn't doing their job you have no choice.

Security was god awful and should have been doing their jobs. I like Jericho but in this instance he did go over the top. The fans were arseholes but this isn't exactly the first time a heel wrestler has been provoked by a number of fans outside an arena. Jericho was provoked of course but there was no need to start swinging at everything that moved after he punched the girl.

Jericho is an ass! He's boring as hell on TV and he's a an asshole in public. No big loss if her "retires" again. Really, he sucks. Nothing remotely interesting about him. Nothing.

That situation escalated rather quickly on all parts.
I'm not a huge Jericho fan, but it appears he was provoked. Provoked enough to start swinging? I would say no, if I were in the situation as one could not justifiably say his life was in danger. However I'm not Chris Jericho and I haven't led his life, plus I'm not prone to physical altercations, unless my life is actually on the line. If its just a matter of "pride," I'll walk away. In his book he claims he's had guns pulled on him several times in the past - which definitely alters your world view when it comes to potentially dangerous situations.
In summation - both Chris Jericho and the fans on hands were acting and reacting with too much violence. One begot the other and both parties are in the wrong.
So, in the end, nothing will happen.

I understand his reaction (he probably had a bad day, a lot of stress, whatever) and I probably would have done the same. But still, I'm sure he will be punished for this. When newspapers and TV news shows say that WWE wrestlers beat up fans who hassle them, that's bad for business and Vince won't like it.

What Chris Jericho should have done:

Like these people were going to run in and give him a hug or something. You don't know who has had one too many in that crowd and wants to throw down, and you don't know what freak has a knife in his pocket and wants to make a name for himself. It isn't like there's no precedence in sports about that kind of thing happening. Odds aren't great, but how are you supposed to know? Just assume everyone heckling him is a 150 pound wrestledork who he could shove down with his little finger? There's no way for him to know in that moment what he's up against. Coupling that with the embarrassment of a group of security guards there, that's one of the biggest reasons I have no problem what so ever with what he did.

Well if the quote from the Vancouver police is accurate, then I don't see this going much further.

I meant he went too far when he started shoving security guards. Yeah they were inefficient idiots but Jericho went too far when he started shoving them to the ground.

I really feel that Jericho was in a lose/lose situation. Besides the security not doing their jobs, had he stayed in the car and kept going, those fans' actions would've escalated regardless and by engaging them, he put himself in danger. In a perfect world, Jericho shouldn't have swung but I doubt that many people in his place would've had a better reaction. He's only human.
However, I do also agree with those saying that had it been someone like Batista or Orton doing this, people would be far more outraged than they are now.

This constitutes flaming, does it not? He didn't wish harm on him or get personal or anything. It's an opinion millions of fans will probably disagree with, but it isn't over the line. Maybe totally irrelevant to this conversation though.

Don't get me wrong I have A LOT of sympathy for Jericho in this situation. But I think given the risks you mention the better option is to try and get out of there as quickly as possible. You might argue that was what he was trying to do, but getting into a melee I would say increases your risk of getting stabbed or whatever.

I actually feel sorry for Jericho. He probably misses his family, he's most likely hurting and some idiot fans are trying to provoke him and he just snapped and now he probably feels horrible about it.

i dont care if it was batista..cena or (god i hate him...) jbl.....
when a fan puts their hands on a wrestler while screaming at him they have every right to strike them.
after watching the video again....she pushes jericho and jericho takes it!!! then as jericho gets in his car she is running after him...why? what the hell is wrong with her? she is at least 20 years old.
jericho should have nailed her a couple of more times.
