Wait, people physically attacked Orton and/or his property? No, but he's portrayed as somewhat of a rebel in whatever he does or does not do. It's the opposite of Jericho really, Jericho in my opinion got a free pass for what he did in that altercation, whereas if Orton got involved in something a lot more minor, he'd get burned at the stake. I'm sorry, but which Orton threads have you been reading? 'Cause everytime he has another one of his "incidents", most people here tend to back him up. Orton is probably just as much, if not more of a favourite here than Jericho is these days. After a lot more time to think about this, I can kind of see the "Jericho had every right to defend himself" stance. I guess I was raised too much with the "never touch a woman" rule and that part of it rubs me the wrong way (even if she was a complete oaf). Still, it's an ugly situation all around.

Can we all agree at least that all of this was a result of being provoked?

Attempt at lightening the mood rather than a mess of anger at serious opinions. That was the greatest post ever! May I quote it in my signature? You can do whatever you like. Heeey

Can we all agree at least that all of this was a result of being provoked? Yes. Maybe Jericho needs to go back to goofy heel (though I would hate that, personally). His current character is starting to make 1997 Shawn Michaels say "wow, this guys getting some heat!".

Jericho hitting a woman who was talking excretory matter to him and shoving him makes him a god among men in my eyes, and I never cared for Jericho. Yes, I am prepared for the flames. It had to be said.

Can we all agree at least that all of this was a result of being provoked? Not here. WHY?!?!?!?!?! He stopped at a stop sign, a fan rushes to his car and starts banging on it, and a crowd gathers... He could of tried to drive away, but there could of been someone in his way. Also it's a STOP sign, he can't just go through without cleared traffic on the road he's about to enter, besides the crowd around him.
The punch to the girl was a reaction of getting grabbed while he was attempting to enter his car.
When the boyfriend tried to attack him he took him down. The so called "Security" was not able to restrain the boyfriend, so Jericho had to defend himself.
Jericho reacted, all except for the spitting, and swinging at the security.

Wow this has come out of the blue
I'm in favor of Jericho however, The fans shouldn't of done that in the first place, especially the people heckling him (let alone he's a heel, wouldn't you think someone shouting 'Your a disgrace to Canada, Motherf**ker' is abit over the top), and the people banging his car door ect. How stupid can they get, you know wrestlers, mess with them in the ring is fine, mess with them OUT the ring, your literally screwed.

It's stuff like this that puts a sour taste in my mouth when people try to defend people who don't get the business.

Pretty much everything that I will say has been said but, why not.
First, I doubt that WWE ever runs that town/arena again and would not be surprised if WWE filed suit against them. Security is the biggest problem here as they failed on an amazing scale.
Second, the fans should not have blocked Jericho's path or touched his car. That is illegal and provides provocation for the incident.
Jericho getting out of the car is not the problem. He could have been trying to get the idiots out of his way. Again, dumbasses touched his car and shut the door on him. Further provocation for the incident. When security arrived, he went to get back in his car and, was grabbed from behind. He then swung in defense.
I really don't see what he did wrong in this. At worst, WWE slaps him on the wrist by saying he is sorry and buying the idiot a ticket the next time they come threw.

I'm still shocked that there are that many people STILL who are so dumb that they get that angry over a storyline.

f*** that. I'm tired of all of this PC "Never hit a woman" bullcrap. She f***ing attacked Jericho, he has a right to defend himself woman or not. He pie-faced her the first time and she came back and attacked him again so he knocked the crap out of her. Good, the security wasn't doing their jobs so he had to defend himself against 4 or 5 people. I applaud Jericho. f*** those fans, you attack a wrestler and get your ass whipped for it and then wanna bring up assault charges just cause you think you'll get sympathy cause you're a woman. These days it needs to be to not hit a woman just cause shes screaming at you or something, but when she starts throwing punches like a man, she can get her ass kicked like a man. What is Jericho supposed to do, stand there and get punched repeatably in the face just cause he doesn't wanna get sued by some whore?

Well that should clear up "whose at fault" debate. The couple fled the scene? If I was Jericho I would be so pissed...

Where that should clear up "whose at fault" debate. An article by THE SUN should clear up a debate?

Touching a car is not just provocation for a punch in the face. Sure, it can be to you, but from a legal standpoint it is not.

And it sounds like they are backing Jericho... A WWE spokesman said: "After leaving a live event in Victoria, British Columbia on Saturday evening, Chris Jericho's car was attacked by a mob when he was stopped at a stop sign.
"Unable to proceed, Chris Jericho exited his car to ask the crowd to clear a path so he could continue through the intersection.
"A man and a woman physically and verbally assaulted Mr Jericho.
"Arena and WWE security arrived to establish enough order to allow Mr Jericho to re-enter his vehicle and depart. The local police arrived minutes later.
"Mr Jericho was unharmed in the incident.
"The WWE is working with local authorities who are investigating the incident to identify the man and woman who fled the scene."
