I think everyone involved in this was stupid, and I agree with KoOS that Jericho didn't handle this well. He let some over-enthusiastic fans cause him to over-react.

That's not my problem, my problem is that the WWE is acting like it was okay for Jericho to leave but yet were trying to get the name of the couple that "fled" the scene. It's a major double standard. "It's okay to leave the scene of an incident if you're a WWE Entertainer! But if the fan leaves the scene, we're going to hunt you down!" Jericho fled the scene because he was being mauled by a group of morons. the couple left because they were afraid they'd get arrested. huge difference. Jericho punched a guy first. Then another guy punched Jericho in return. Then the girl and Jericho traded bodily waste. Girl shoved Jericho. Jericho shoved/punched the girl. This caused the boyfriend to swing at Jericho. Jericho swung back as the security was trying to restrain the two parties. At this time Jericho STRUCK AND SHOVED SECURITY GUARDS. That is most defiantly an unprovoked assault. Then Jericho got in his car and left. That is fleeing the scene any way you slice it. He could have went back inside until the police arrived. Hell he could have went down the street until the police arrived.

So how can we best sum up those 23 pages for those of us just now joining? The overwhelming majority think Jericho did absolutely nothing wrong... A select few have taken the opinion that everyone shares some blame...security for letting it get out of hand, the fans for being knobs, and Jericho for going over the edge in retaliation. Another select few think Jericho was completely in the wrong. I tend to fall in the middle category.

Every person that was struck is a separate encounter. Granted, I'm no expert on Canadian law, but I would like to think that those Jericho struck unprovoked will have a case against him.

If you provoke somebody who fights for a living, even "fake" fighting, you deserve NO sympathy when said performer whips your ass.

Every person that was struck is a separate encounter. Granted, I'm no expert on Canadian law, but I would like to think that those Jericho struck unprovoked will have a case against him. The only ones that would have an open and shut case would the be the security people. However, I'm sure the WWE will throw free tickets or something towards them to not press charges. Or maybe they are Jericho fans and wouldn't want to take it that far. The person Jericho punched first could have a case unless Jericho can provide proof that his physical well being was being threatened beyond just an act of vandalism on the car. The others, took the shots first. Except possibly the girl because if I recall there was one report saying the girl spat at him first, the other said Jericho did. If someone spits on someone, that is considered an act of aggression so that person deserves whatever they get. Girl shoved Jericho, Jericho spat at her, so she spits back. Right there shows that the girl would not have a case. So the only ones with a potential case would be the security people and the first guy.

So how can we best sum up those 23 pages for those of us just now joining? That we should have seen Chris Jericho striking a woman considering what he did to Shawn Michael's wife? Bad timing? I'll see myself out. But seriously, I think what we have here is a mess of heated decisions. All of those fans were wrong to provoke Chris, and well Chris was wrong to strike that woman, and two security guards. Plus, he totally shouldn't have left his car in the first place, though I bet he probably felt threatened in his own car.

I haven't commented other than that the whole situation was 'snorked up.' I think WWE's statement is one-sided and completely leaves out any information that Jericho retaliated against his attackers and even attacked security.
Jericho was mobbed. No way around it. He got in his car and was going to leave, but was ambushed. He shouldn't have attacked the female and the security guard. I will agree that it is 'easy for us to say' but that still doesn't mean that we can't express that opinon, regardless of whether it was easy for us to express it.

I've worked security for concerts. If there are EVER any incidents with the "talent" and fans, you are told to get the "talent" out of there as quickly as possible.
Several reasons for this, but among the important ones are:
1. You're not going to have a hard time tracking said "talent" down later on down the road for any possible police questioning, whereas you have no real way of tracking down any of the fans involved if they leave the scene. You get the "talent" out, but make sure you calm the involved fans down and give them the impression they're in the right (regardless of if they are or not) because it's pretty much your best chance of making sure they stick around long enough for when the proper authorities come and want to question them and get their information.
2. When you have an incident where a "talent" is involved in a situation like this, and there are a large number of "unknowns" on the other side... the quickest, most efficient, way to begin to cool down the situation is to get the "talent" out of there. Again, police know where to find him if they need him. By removing one of the factors from the equation (the "talent) it allows the situation to ease.
My guess would be that: A. The Security there realizes this and told Jericho to get out of there as that is the quickest way to defuse the situation.
or
B. Jericho, who has much experience with crowd situations not limited to just WWE, but also to concerts as a performer, and knew that he had to get out of there.
This isn't a couple of cool heads discussing what happened during a fender bender. This could have turned into a very bad situation when you look at the number of people standing around there. The correct thing to do was to get Jericho out there. He's not fleeing any scene. Police certainly aren't going to hold anything against him for leaving. In fact, ask just about any cop and they'll tell you he did the right thing by getting out of there before it could have turned into an ugly mess. Again, they know where to find him. He's not leaving the scene of a crime. He's preventing a bad situation from turning even worse.
