Touching a car is not just provocation for a punch in the face. Sure, it can be to you, but from a legal standpoint it is not. Oh man, I'd love, love, LOVE to see how cordial some of the contrarians on this board would act if they were stopped and surrounded on their own free time while driving in a car and harassed and assaulted by a crowd of 50 screaming wrestling fans. Maybe invite them all back to your place for some kool-aid and jello squares while you have a polite chat about nonviolent mediation, right? Or maybe just stand and smile while they all spit and swear and slap you? Its irrelevant what I would do from a personal standpoint. Facts are, Chris Jericho endangered everyone, including himself, in the situation by escalating it into a physical altercation. Especially if Chris was unarmed. When you are taking the law in your own hands, that can get you killed. He has a wife and children. He could have easily got shot or shanked. I always think twice before throwing a punch in any situation. We dont know 100% exactly the details of the situation. Common Sense would tell me that the 50 fans would run to surround the situation after Jericho stepped out of the car and confronted the guy. I dont believe that there was a mass commotion around the vehicle solely after the guy banged on the car. Also, was Jericho's rental blocked in many directions or every direction? Details are still lost in this story.

I'm gonna side with Jericho on this one, when you are mobbed by people who are pushing you around, you have to defend yourself. And security was in no way helping him out with that.
As far as not leaving the car, we have no way of knowing he didn't just get out of the car to talk to the guy. When people started putting their hands on him is when he snapped.

The woman who was hit, 20-year-old Ashley Levey, said the altercation began when her boyfriend, Kalen Johl, heckled Jericho as he drove through the parking lot. Jericho got out of his vehicle, Levey said, and made a derogatory comment to Johl, who is South Asian. She said Jericho pushed Kohl first. Levey called Jericho a racist, so he spit on and punched her, she said.

Its irrelevant what I would do from a personal standpoint. No it isn't. You're trying to soapbox what he should and shouldn't have done when in the same position, you and anyone else either would have done the same thing, or gotten your ass kicked by an angry mob. The man didn't have a helluva lot of options opened to him, or much time to consider it. That's nothing but a Straw Man argument. So these fans surround and assault the guy, and it's HIS fault for defending himself? The man can hardly be accused of escalating the situation when he was just trying to drive away and these idiots stopped HIM.

I suppose if we are gonna take her word for it, then that clears that up. But do you really expect her to say anything different? Here's the guy by the way

20-year-old Ashley Levey said the altercation began when her boyfriend, Kalen Johl, was trying to buy coffee at a deli outside the arena. This angered Jericho so much that he got out of his vehicle and proceeded to hit the boyfriend "with a tire iron...at least four-hundred times". However, the boyfriend was "unharmed" because "he's a tough guy and does Jiu-Jitsu like two times a week so like, he can take anyone and stuff".

If I am outnumbered 50-1 like you are saying, and I have a Chevy Tahoe, I am getting the hell out of there. Only a complete and utter fool would stand there and fight. Especially if you are unarmed.

Is it wrong I just leaned slightly more to Jericho's side because of how much of a douche that boyfriend looks?

The others were just being normal idiotic fans trying to get pictures. It happens all the time. Fans see a wrestler in a car, then one person goes up to it so the rest feel the need to go up as well expecting to get pictures and autographs.

20-year-old Ashley Levey said the altercation began when her boyfriend, Kalen Johl, was caring for a party of orphans on a day trip, orphans with diseases. This angered Jericho so much that he got out of his vehicle and proceeded to hit the boyfriend "with a flaming barbed wire covered baseball bat...at least four-hundredty million times". He then looked at the orphans with rape eyes untill securty escorted him back to his car. Johl was unharmed because he had god's love to protect him.
