So what about the crowd of 50 people that are surrounding it on all sides and banging on it? Drive right through them? Huh? Only one guy was banging on it. The others were just being normal idiotic fans trying to get pictures. It happens all the time. Fans see a wrestler in a car, then one person goes up to it so the rest feel the need to go up as well expecting to get pictures and autographs. So you do not think the fan is responsible in any way for messing with Jericho while he's trying to leave? He stopped at a stop sign and you got a some person rushing to his car...

If I am outnumbered 50-1 like you are saying, and I have a Chevy Tahoe, I am getting the hell out of there. Only a complete and utter fool would stand there and fight. Especially if you are unarmed. So what about the crowd of 50 people that are surrounding it on all sides and banging on it? Drive right through them? There is no point in the story that says that was the case. At the most, the OP says the Tahoe path in the street was blocked by the fans. Not the truck was surrounded. I dont believe that all 50 fans decided to run into the steet on a whim simultaneously while the fan banged on his window. I believe the fans ran into the street to observe the ongoing altercation. That is the only story that would make sense.

20-year-old Ashley Levey said the altercation began when her boyfriend, Kalen Johl, was trying to buy coffee at a deli outside the arena. This angered Jericho so much that he got out of his vehicle and proceeded to hit the boyfriend "with a tire iron...at least four-hundred times". However, the boyfriend was "unharmed" because "he's a tough guy and does Jiu-Jitsu like two times a week so like, he can take anyone and stuff". 20-year-old Ashley Levey also went on to expound that her boyfriend, who she also would like to add taught Chuck Norris how to go from bad to "bad ass", was purchasing the coffee in question for a homeless war hero. Jericho also reportedly burst from his SUV ranting an unending string of racial slurs with drool and/or foam dripping from his be-fanged maw according to 20-year-old Ashley Levey who assures this journalist that she has never told a lie.

The fan is very responsible. Does not excuse Chris Jericho of his criminal actions though (the first punch, and the assault of the peace making officers).

I'm firmly in the "they had it coming" camp on this one.
Of course these nobheads are going to milk this as much as possible and play themselves out as the victims.
Its easy to say he should have restrained himself but in moments like that when you have some arrogant cow shouting in your face you have no choice but to floor a bitch.

The fan should be held responsible if he did damage to the car. But not for running up to the car, because if that's the case then a lot of fans all around North American would be in trouble.

In 2009, you can get killed for beating someone's ass. Vince has to do something to protect both his wrestlers and fans.

From what I've seen, Jericho had the right to defend himself. I wonder if some of us would have been so hard on Jericho if it was a man instead of a woman he hit there. It has nothing to do with that punch, it has to do with what he did afterward.

Oh God...this has to be the funniest thing to ever happen in wrestling! I marked out when he smashed that chick.
Let's face it, the chick spit on him, the fans were getting way too close, security wasn't doing their job, so Jericho retaliated. Crap happens! Sure, Jericho should take pride in the fact that he's such a monster heel and that there are still people that buy into the "hate the bad guy" thing, and he could have been a bigger man and chalk it up to just him being an awesome heel, but she freakin' spat on him. That's also considered assault. Soooo...yeah, great stuff all around. The best part of the video is the chick saying, "He punched a girl..." in complete awe. Bitches, watch out, Y2J isn't afraid t slap a hoe.

Guys I am firmly in the 'both sides are at fault camp' so please dont flame or criticise me for this. But say your girlfriend started screaming at you and spat at you and shoved you a little bit, does it give you the right to punch her in the face? I'm just asking for your opinion here, this isn't criticising anyone.

I'm just asking for your opinion here, this isn't criticising anyone. Seeing as I know her very well and as she's my gf, probably not though I would probably restrain her physically as I'm not too keen on being anyone's punching bag. As for Jericho, it's not his gf, just some crazed overzealous fan who overstepped her boundaries.

You can see Jericho is trying to get back in his car, but the girl grabbed him. I don't care what gender she is, SHE GRABBED him, I don't think anyone is allowed to touch anyone without consent. No, I do not approve of the punch, but I FIRMLY AGREE that the girl was in the wrong for provoking him. Again, videos don't lie, but written reports can always blur the truth. Just watch the gif: HE WAS PROVOKED

As for Jericho, it's not his gf, just some crazed overzealous fan who overstepped her boundaries. But that's not the argument people are making, which I think needs to be said. If Jericho was accused of punching his wife in the face because she pushed and grabbed him and spit on him, I still think most people would consider him to be at fault. The ones who said that it doesn't matter who pushes you, once they do, it's go time, must not have sisters, mothers, or daughters. Now, I think the argument can be made that because he did not know this women, that once he felt her grabbing him, he might not have known what she was going to do next. Even that might be giving him to much credit, because he could've pushed her away, rather then just throwing a punch. But the sentiment that I read on many of these post is that is ok for a man to hit a woman if provoked in the way he was provoked, and that is just wrong.

I'm just asking for your opinion here, this isn't criticising anyone. If I did that, my girlfriend would literally beat the shit out of me and then proceed to mutilate me in my sleep. Plus it's different when it's your GF (or even a friend in general) than when a complete stranger goes off. Anyway, Jericho probably should have restrained himself some more, but these two morons were trying to start something and were entirely out of hand. And the security guards should have done their job to prevent this. If they wanted to start a fight with a wrestler, they should have realized that he might just react.

I'd say it does matter a bit, Jericho doesn't know this woman at all from anywhere. I'm not really too big on "women could do whatever they want to men and men can't defend themselves", so I'm probably for Jericho in this instance. What if he had just stood there? The woman probably would've taken liberties and probably started throwing punches instead of just pushing, Jericho is just defending himself against an act of aggression against a person he doesn't know.
