Just to avoid any further confusion... ![](http://i41.tinypic.com/rgxesj.jpg) Win. 100% natural, Grade A Win. It made me smirk ...But as to how the E handles this, who knows how it will go? I think he flew off the handle, but he was justified if some asshat jumped in front of his car while leaving. And this whole "Oh, he punched a woman" bit? If she did indeed spit upon him, she got what was coming to her. The E could level some disciplinary action against him, or they could use the incident to further his heel standing.

There is a difference between self defense and assault. "And this attitude enables women to be bullies, and brings us women like the 'star' of this video" this is nonsense. How is it nonsense? Women have violent tendencies. Tell them that men are not to hit women under any circumstances, even if women strike them first, and what do you think is going to happen? Do you watch what happens in bars when women start wailing on their exes? Do you think they're expecting to be hit back? Do you think this woman attacked Jericho repeatedly because she wanted to start a fair fight with him? Or do you think she hit him 'knowing' that he 'couldn't' hit her back? Again, propagating the belief that men are never to strike women ever under any circumstances is propagating a belief that enables women, like this one in the video, to be bullies.

My quick two cents:
1) Jericho was defending himself up to the point where, as the situation calmed down, and he COULD have exited, he DID NOT, but chose to further stay and attack. Had he just pushed them off of him, or struck them in self defense, while screaming for the security to "do their f***ing JOB!" he would have had an AIRTIGHT case, and the woman would be facing criminal charges.
2) I too, subscribe to the philosophy that hitting a woman is wrong....until that woman begins attacking you. At that point, she has become an enemy combatant, and should be dealt with as such. Now, most women who are NOT Awesome Kong or Rhonda Singh size, do NOT need to be struck full force about the head or neck area. Most times, a firm slap or push can do the trick. Most can be restrained or disarmed fairly easily, by a police or security guard who knows what they're doing. Sometimes, though, you get a bigger woman acting out, and throwing punches, and she needs to be disabled QUICKLY. At that point, you take her down as fast as possible. Most times, a nice shove or judo legsweep will do the trick, IE, use her own momentum against her. Again, these are extreme, "crowd control" measures and by no means do I advocate male on female violence in any sort of normal circumstances. At the same time, however, I must say that you are never going to see a circumstance where you can wait for a "same sex security guard" to deal with a woman who is out of control. Whoever is there needs to step in, male OR female.
3) On the subject of the sexes....just as there is a double standard where men sleeping with women is concerned....IE, a man sleeps with twenty women, and he's a "stud" and a woman does the same with twenty men, and she's a whore.....that same dichotomy exists where men hitting women is concerned. A man hits a woman, and he's a brutal bastard, scum even. A woman kicks the HELL out of a man, and she's a tough, badass bitch.

According to several WWE superstars that were at the house show in Victoria, there was a mob of fans that were not only going after Chris Jericho but other wrestlers as well. This group of fans were apparently surronding the cars of wrestlers as they were trying to leave the arena. The fans would start pounding their fists on the cars and security wasn't doing much of anything. One wrestler said: "never leave the car... that was the mistake Jericho made."

Getting out of the vehicle could equal premeditated assault, no?

That's a stretch, because you would have to prove he got out with the intent to actually hit someone, which from the video doesn't seem to be the case since he didn't swing until provoked. Had he come out swinging, then maybe.

That's a stretch, because you would have to prove he got out with the intent to actually hit someone, which from the video doesn't seem to be the case since he didn't swing until provoked. Had he come out swinging, then maybe. Ok. That's why I phrased it more as a question than as a statement. However, I don't think he got out of the car with the intention of talking things over peacefully. He was pretty pissed when he climbed out of there, and if assault wasn't on his mind, it was damn close. Again, though, on the other hand, having been in intense crowd scenes like that, I can say that you almost....I don't know how else to say it, but you almost channel the energy and emotion of the crowd. I am a firm believer in the theory that humans are sensitive to, and can "pick up on" the current of emotion running through a crowd. When your senses are SCREAMING aggression, it's hard not to begin feeling that aggression yourself. In saying that, I think that Jericho should have stayed his ass in the car. It was the safest place, and he could have simply waited there for more wrestlers to come out, or the police to arrive and restore order. I'm still thinking that a creative prosecutor MIGHT try to nail Jericho with just the same line of logic that you just refuted, EMB.

Reading some user comments on FOX Sports on MSN is REALLY pissing me off more that I have been in a long time. It's like they think pro wrestlers and pro wrestling fans are trailer-trash, mouth-breathing, inbred hicks. I would love to engage in a conversation with these people face to face about pro wrestling. I'd love to count the number I times I'd completely own them.

It's the mainstream media. They look down on just about everything that isn't embraced by Park Ave. The irony is, when wrestlers go on these shows and prove to be even MORE intelligent than the insipid, stuffed suit hosts. ;D

I'm glad to see that so many people here think it's perfectly okay for a grown man to hit a woman if the man happens to be a famous wrestler. Jericho should be in jail. The fans that assaulted/battered him should also be in jail.

The fans that assaulted/battered him should also be in jail. Just because she's a woman doesn't mean that she's above an ass whippin'. Women can be tougher than men. When you are in a dangerous situation, and a woman happens to strike you, and you react without really seeing who hit you, it's perfectly fine to hit ANYONE that is assaulting you. It's called self-defense.

I think we have to think about what Jericho may have been thinking, and see the incident from his perspective. Jericho is the kind of old-school vet who knows about the days when heels had to fear for their physical safety without security or barriers to help them (e.g. tires slashed, bottles thrown in faces, etc.) He had to have anticipated some real heel heat for his character as he left the building by fans who can't calm down when the show is over. Smartly, he didn't engage any fans as he made his way to his SUV. He obviously didn't go looking for a fight. But security is more often than not there to provide a barrier between the fans and the wrestlers, not to engage in physical combat on behalf of wrestlers. Add to that the accounts of people who have interviewed Jericho saying he is simply not capable of such an unprovoked assault especially on a woman. I just don't think Jericho would have done this if he had another option. He defended himself.
