I think we can all agree that security completely sucked. The fans should never have been allowed to get that rowdy in the first place. I bet we'll see much heavier security at WWE events in the future as a result of this. It's easy to see that he had been provoked, but the legal question is going to be whether his use of force was for his own protection, or if it was done it a fit of anger. I don't think his shoving the security guards helps his case. FYI, if someone comes at you in a violent matter and you feel threatened, you're allowed to defend yourself as you see fit. My friend is a cop and we just had this conversation a few weeks ago. If you're in a bar and you exchange words with a guy and he takes a swing at you, you have free range to beat the crap out of him as long as someone will back up the claim that the other guy did initiate force. If you step outside with the person and then fight then you're SOL because you're agreeing to combat.

You can't instigate anything by getting out of your car. The other guy was damaging property in his possession and physically stopped him from exiting the car and causing him potentially injury. I agree that he went nuts later on after he hit the girl, but I see that as a reaction from being frustrated by the security's inability to handle the situation causing him to possibly think that he was pushed by one of the guys there. Like many have said he had his back to her at the time, I doubt he thought she was the one or he probably wouldn't have decked her like that. He didn't look like he was going to hit her up to that point. What do you think Jericho was going to do by getting out of the car, give the fan a hug? COME ON. You say he stopped him from getting out of the car. What would Jericho accomplish by getting out of the car? Hmmm let a fan dent a rental car which would be covered with insurance or get out and get into a shoving, spitting, and punching contest with fans and security? Wow real noodle scratcher there.... Jericho could have.... I Don't Know.... STOPPED THE WOMAN FROM HITTING HIS CAR Seriously, put yourself in the situation. You like it if I go over to your home and HIT YOUR CAR??!? You just gonna sit there and take it?

Alright, it will probably be gnored, but here is my spin:
What Jericho did has it's positives and negatives. On one side, he was defending himself. You don't know why he got out of his car. Maybe he did it to try and disperse the crowd, telling them to "f*** off" and then leave. But when he did, they basically mobbed them (oh, and shutting the door while he is getting out, no matter at what velocity, is still taking an object out of his control and using it against him in a way that is possibly harmful. I feel that is justifiable for his fighting back.) And he felt someone take his jacket and acted in self defense. No matter male or female, when you set your hands on someone in a way they don't want you to, you just become another person in the eyes of the law
Now, believing the story, he did go over the line spitting on someone, and from then on, he is considered the provoker of actions. You could say it only applies to the woman, and in a sense, it does. But hey, if a friend of yours gets spit on, would you stand at the sideline?
All I'm saying is, while he did lose his cool, he was put in a dangerous situation and did all he could to keep his space and leave.

As for the "a fan could have been armed" argument, aren't they searched for weapons and crap at house shows (never been to one so pardon my ignorance)? Armed with soda bottles, perhaps. Some yes, some no. I went to a house show last year and never got searched. Actually,I've only seen them do that at one of the old ECW on TNN tapings I went to. Every other show(including the Cyber Sunday PPV in Cincinnati),I've never been searched.

They were outside in a public place. Any number of people could've had a weapon. Jericho told security to get those guys out of there and they didn't. Jericho was looking out for #1. Can't fault him for that. If you've seen any fan altercations online, the wrestler always hits the fan. Before the fan ever gets a chance to do anything, the wrestler, security, a referee, or somebody takes the fan down. Either they're told to or they just go into business for themselves. Why give somebody a chance to hurt you?

Ok, after that, he clearly sees it's a woman before he punches her.

How the hell was he supposed to react? He didn't start physically assaulting people until they assaulted him first. Is he just supposed to let them bully him around? Seriously, I want to know why anyone thinks this is remotely Jericho's fault.

I didn't hear anyone get riled up when paparazzi was banging on Paris Hilton in the police car, or Britney Spears in the ambulance, or Heath Ledger being loaded in the coroners car Because no one respects paparazzi, for the most part, and people probably wouldn't give a shit if they got run over by the cops, EMTs or coroners in question.

the guys defending this are probably the same idiots from the video who shouldnt have touched someone elses private property in the first place. the 2nd video shows jericho standing there not doing anything. the girl shoves him...he still does nothing! then he turns to get in his car and she lunges at him. jericho didnt know what she might have had in her hand. SO BOOM BITCH GOES DOWN. i would have done the same thing in that situation. as bobby heenan would say "i would do that to my grandmother if i had to!" to the people saying he should not have gotten out of the car, maybe your right. but how do you know(and you dont know!) he wasnt getting out to maybe sign some more autographs to get the people out of the way? he went to get out and some jerkoff put his hands on his car (whether its a rental or not...jericho is responsible for it) jericho is a class act, he knows the rules, as soon as someone puts there hands on you anything goes...thats including the bitches I don't have a problem with anything up to and including "BOOM THE BITCH GOES DOWN" I have a problem with everything that happened after "BOOM THE BITCH GOES DOWN" He made a bad situation much worse after that by taking swings at everyone around.

For the Canadians here, is it just like that in Canada (where the incident took place) or is the law more lenient or strict on battery cases?

Seriously, I want to know why anyone thinks this is remotely Jericho's fault. Because they're all suburbanites that have clearly never been placed in a crowded or volatile environment. Anyone in Jericho's situation would've done what he did. Period. Including get out of the car. Security failed hard. Deal with it. But KoOS won't deal with it, because that would imply being in the wrong.
