Here I was thinking of the Charlie Murphy/Prince sketch from "Chappelle's Show." However, I'm not here to talk about Prince (who is awesome), I'm here to give you guys a quick heads up on this: www.amazon.com/gp/feature.html/ref=pe_25420_12039230_amb_link_84267931_9?ie=UTF8&plgroup=5&docId=1000366921Amazon currently has a "Buy One, Get One Free" deal for a collection of its horror titles. Just now, I used this deal to pick up the remake of "Nosferatu" starring Klaus Kinski, and Dario Argento's "Phenomena." I've wanted to get both for a while, but they were a little too pricey before now. So, there ya go. Enjoy! Or don't. See if I care. *shrug* Hey thanks for theads up DSR! Some good stuff there, but I couldn't help but wonder how sad I am because I own a majority of the films on that list.

There was plenty of stuff that I already had (and a fair share of things I'm just not interested in), so overall there wasn't a whole lot of options to choose from there.

I'm really mulling CEMETARY MAN...but can't find anything else in the $9 range that's tickling my fancy. Think I might just snatch it used for $4.

Alright, we're less than a month away from what SHOULD be a pretty damned good horror flick, and what's more, it's not even a remake. Raimi's Drag Me to Hell has fascinated me since I first saw the trailer, and now that some advance reviews are starting to come in, I'm only getting more excited about it.
Good for Raimi that he's going back to the genre that launched his career in the first place, and even MORE good that he's taking a break from the Spider-Man franchise (which was starting to get a little stale with the third installment). But I'm perhaps most excited for the flick since it looks like it's going to be an actual, serious attempt at horror, as opposed to the Evil Dead trilogy of films. I'll get heat for this, but I don't like the Evil Dead movies...at all. For a couple reasons: (1) I don't find the extremely cheesy (and before anyone can jump down my throat, the humor in ED was actually TRYING to be funny as opposed to the unintentional hilarity of '80s slasher films) humor to be funny in the slightest, and (2) I certainly enjoy Bruce Campbell in the three movies, but I just don't get the whole underground phenomenon of "OMG he's the best character in the history of cinema etc. etc."
Nonetheless, it should be apparent with the three Spider-Man films how far he has come as a filmmaker since the days of the Evil Dead trilogy (and Darkman, for that matter, which sucked hard as well), and I'm pretty amped to see what he's got up his sleeve for another college try at the horror genre.

I'm in agreement with you on Bruce Campbell's status as the "cult cinema Jesus." He's good at what he does, but I really don't think he's all that awesome. And while I don't hate the Evil Dead movies, I'm not overly fond of the overall style of the series. I've never been a big fan of slapstick. But I do enjoy the original Evil Dead, as those slapstick elements the series relied on later on are used sparingly, and the overall tone of the movie works better for me. I think a lot of people see what the Evil Dead series became after the first movie and sort of expect the first movie to be funny, but they actually tried to make a somewhat serious horror movie with the first one. And, while it's not perfect, I think they more or less succeeded.

More exclusive bonuses for 'Friday the 13th' Blu-ray:
Warner Home Video has unveiled further specs for 'Friday the 13th,' which will slash its way to Blu-ray this June with even more bloody BD-Live-exclusive content.
Though the studio recently confirmed an already-impressive gaggle of bonus features for the June 16 Blu-ray release, they've now issued a press release that promises even more BD-Live content.
As previously reported, Jason's latest exploits will receive the BD-50 dual-layer treatment with 1080p/VC-1 video (2.39:1) and English Dolby TrueHD 5.1 Surround track. The disc will contain both the R-rated and never-before-seen "Killer Cut" versions of the film available via seamless branching.
Extras include the "Explore the Rebirth of Jason Voorhees" featurette and additional "slashed" scenes, as well as Blu-ray exclusives including a "Terror Trivia" picture-in-picture track with pop-up trivia, and two additional featurettes ("Hacking Back/Slashing Forward," "The 7 Best Kills").
Just-announced BD-Live content includes "My Commentary" function to record your own track and share it with other 'Friday' fans, the ability to join in a "Live Community Screening," and a downloadable sneak peek at the upcoming Blu-ray release of 'Trick 'r Treat.'
Finally, included on a second disc will be a Digital Copy of both the extended and rated versions of the film, compatible with PCs and iTunes.

I can only HOPE that DreadCentral's Uncle Creepy makes a commentary for this. It would be a thousand and one varieties of awesome.

So, Michael Myers is now being played by Frankenstein? Either that, or Leatherface, judging from the mask.
