I got around to watching The Descent on Blu-Ray and gents that is how you make a horror film.
Tense, claustrophobic, and not since Uma Thurman in Kill Bill has a woman kicked so much butt on screen. Shauna Macdonald creates an iconic character in Sarah. Great, great film.

Was watching Child Play 3 the other day I love the first three movies It makes me sad to see what has happen with the series. This is one series that needs a remake badly and glad to see that it's getting one

From the random thought part of my mind comes...
Anyone remember MTV's "Fear" reality show? It tended to place 5 or more people in a "haunted" location and had them do a bunch of dares over two nights to figure out whether or not the place was haunted.
I actually liked it. They had contestants strapped up with cameras so they could film their own experience while having strategically placed night-vision cameras for the rest.
When they cancelled it (not due to lack of popularity, but more because it cost...alot), I really think MTV missed a chance to throw a movie into theatres for quick cash.
I mean, the plot would be easy enough...they send the contestants...and the place really is haunted. The show was on in 2000, so they could've easily cashed in on the Blair Witch feeling of "real" filming.
So...yeah....that's what hit me and I thought it would fit in the Horror thread...

I Remember it used to watch it all the time. And On the Piranha Remake
Seems Dreyfuss isn't Mr. Goodman, as apparently that role is being played by the great Christopher Lloyd.

Now on YouTube!
As for this movie...Debbie Gibson, Lorenzo Lamas...and some of the worst CGI imaginable.
I'm getting this the day it comes out, as it's a surefire bad movie classic. And at least, unlike SHARK SWARM, this one won't be three hours long and dry as the Sahara.

It feels like I haven't posted in this thread in a while, so I thought I'd come barging in, present you with absolutely nothing, and then scram for a few more days.
So my most recent horror watching was the Larry Cohen written, William Lustig directed, Monster Crap inductee UNCLE SAM. For those that weren't paying attention when what's-his-face inducted this flick:
Sam Harper is a deranged US soldier accidentally killed by friendly fire during the Gulf War, and his body is sent back home once its discovered some 3 years later (I think). Home, in this instance, consists of his wife, who's moved on in those 3 years, Sam's sister, and her son, who idolizes Sam, doesn't know the man was a total lunatic, and hopes to one day be as good a soldier as his uncle.
Well, apparently crazy Uncle Sam isn't entirely dead, as he comes out of his casket to do away with tax cheats, flag burners, and anyone else who disrespects the US of A.
You know that saying about 100 monkeys chained to 100 typewriters, and how they'll eventually come out with Shakespeare? Well, UNCLE SAM proves the opposite is true: you can take a good number of talented people (Lustig and Cohen, plus the likes of Bo Hopkins, Timothy Bottoms, Robert Forster, and others), and still come out with crap.
Y'see, this is a movie with a message, about going too far with our patriotism. But neither the villainous Gulf War zombie, nor the heroic tax cheats/non-patriots are ever portrayed as anything more than incredibly stupid people. Add to this the incredibly silly Uncle Sam costume the dead soldier wears, and a barrage of slasher movie cliches, and yeah, the whole thing adds up to something pretty dumb.
While I guess I should expect far better from the talent involved (considering how much I loved Cohen's IT'S ALIVE and all), I still had something of a good time watching this movie. It's really really stupid, but hey, sometimes stupid can be fun. I'll give it 2.4 stars out of 5, and those stars are for all the wrong reasons.

Mega Shark vs. Giant Octopus looks friggin' epic. A surefire classic of modern cinema, right there. ;D
As for Uncle Sam, I've seen it. DSR's right - this is a horror film with a MESSAGE, people. And most of you know how I feel about those.

GIANT OCTOPUS will turn out to be an internet cult classic...now if only...if ONLY...Lorenzo Lamas turns to Debbie Gibson at one point and goes, "You know, I'm really wired. What do you say I take you home and eat your pussy?" ;D

My Bloody Valentine 3-D comes out next week so it should be interesting to see if the 3D plays out better than the F13 3D played out I've had it pre-ordered for a while now, and although while I'd imagine converting it to the red/blue format won't be perfect, it's bound to be better than doing the same thing with the outdated 3D that Friday 3 used. I myself haven't seen the movie, so with all the praise that you guys have given it, I just want to see it; what they've done with the 3D is kind of an afterthought for me.

Nope not on Blu-ray yet I saw it on Amazon some months ago, so I KNOW it's been released on the format. Although I do recall it being barebones; so perhaps this release is going to include all the bonus material from the DVD.
