I watched the memorial on NBC. Man, I had a knot in my throat the whole time. I would NOT let myself cry. A tear did roll down my cheek at one point. My 'favorite' parts were Magic Johnson's story and John Mayer's performance. Stevie's, Mariah's, and Jermaine's were highly emotional for me. Yet another one of my heroes is gone. It's hard for me to choose one song I like the most of Michael Jackson. I guess I'll go with Stranger In Moscow.

It's...it's beautiful, man. I would kill for an hour in there. I love all the lego statues and superhero costumes he has on display.

I just finished watching the entire memorial (thank you DVR), and it was the most emotional television I ever watched. It was also the first time I have ever cried for a celebrities death. I mean, there's been a few that effected me, but this one really brought me to tears. What got me besides his daughter talking, was when Brooke Shields gave her speech about how her and Michael would laugh a lot together when they hung out. Then his brother Jermaine performed, "Smile,"I just balled. It was such a bittersweet memorial. Like I said before, this is truly an end of an era, but a reminder that Michael Jackson was a once in a lifetime performer, and a human being and a father, and not just some freak. I'm going to miss the guy.
Oh and my favorite Jackson songs are, "Liberian Girl," "Remember The Time," "Smooth Criminal," and "Human Nature."

The tribute was very classy and perfect. I have noticed a lot of people (everyday AND the media) came away with a little bit better understanding and are just now starting to realize Michael was a human being and a father-a lot of people tend to forget that. The media seemed to think that bad publicity made them more money and it was so simple to do, but now they are reconsidering things. I'm just sorry it took his death for some people to catch on. I didn't know Michael, but I loved him for everything he did and contributed, whether it was for music, or world causes. R.I.P. On of my major favorite songs right now, is this gem I just really discovered by the Jacksons.. If you haven't heard it, do me a favor and watch it. I guarantee you'll smile

John Mayer performing Human Nature was the highlight for me. I have instantly become a fan, and I didn't even know who he was beforehand.
It was truly an emotional night for me. Watching on television thousands of miles away from Los Angeles, I felt like I had lost someone close to me, and I have to wonder how often a man who has that effect on the world comes along.

Favorite MJ song? Not even a contest. Man in the Mirror. Was surprised, but ultimately grateful that they didn't perform it yesterday. I just heard the opening chords as Michael was being taken out and I had to put my head between my knees, I was crying so hard.
Yeah, yesterday was a big cry day, probably second only to the death of my grandmother. Without exaggeration, most people around their eyes are red when they cry I lot. I cried so much, I was turning purple around my eyes.
Really, AEG and everyone who participated really need to be commended for yesterday, because it was something truly special as we really saw Michael the man, Michael the father, Michael the brother as much as Michael the performer. I said a lot of this yesterday, so I'll just say scroll back about 24 hours for more.
Oh, after Man in the Mirror, HIStory, You are Not Alone, Will You Be There?, Black and White and Heal the World are the big ones for me. Honestly, that MJ never got to do a gospel album is a real shame.

Finally got the time to get back and share my thoughts over the whole experience. - Got up at 4:30 am to leave the house by 6:00 and catch the Metro Rail to Staples. Way better than traveling by car, trust me. Were only 2 other people on the train that I saw with wristbands. Pretty much shared the sentiment that we couldn't believe how lucky we were.
- Got to Staples shortly before 7:00 am. Not too many people out front. At that point, probably around 200 or so. Never have I seen more cops in my entire life. They were not playing. If you weren't press or a wristband/ticket holder, you were not getting anywhere near Staples.
- This, however, didn't stop a bunch of morons across the street protesting with derogatory signs stating that "homos" (not the word they used; it was much worse) doom nations, Jacko is in Hell, and that we who were attending the memorial were also going to Hell. As a Christian and someone that serves God, this offended me as real men and women of God DO NOT act this way, but I digress. Don't want to make this about religion.
- Everything about admitting people was very orderly. One thing I didn't like was every cockroach coming out of the woodwork hawking anything and everything under the sun with MJ's face/image slapped on it. The topper was a guy selling "programs" and blatantly lying to people, stating that attendees were not getting programs because "they didn't have time to make any." Right as I went in, I was handed an official program from the organizers of the event. Someone ended up stealing a box of them and was selling them on the street for $10 a pop. Not cool.
- Everyone had to pass through metal detectors and were notified by Staples Center staff that no cameras, camcorders, or camera phones of any sort were allowed and that people with such items had to check them in and pick them up after the event. As everyone in the world saw, they did not enforce this at all as thousands of people went in with their cameras.
- The performances were awesome and the presentation was excellent. Like many, I had a small gripe with Mariah's choice of attire, but, in retrospective, it's a small negative amongst a wave of positive.
- The letters from Diana Ross, Maya Angelou, and Nelson Mandela really hit home with everyone in the crowd. Very touching words.
- For the most part, and I can't believe I'd ever type these words, I agreed with Reverend Al Sharpton's points. For once, he got it right and didn't add anything unnecessary to his speech in an effort to make himself the center of attention. It was all on Michael, as it should have been.
- Stevie Wonder was awesome, as was John Mayer, Jennifer Hudson and Jermaine Jackson. I almost cried during "Smile."
- People all around me were openly weeping. The atmosphere inside the building is beyond description. This was truly an event like no other.
Overall, it was a joyful experience, one that I feel blessed and privileged to have been fortunate enough to attend. It will be a memory that will never fade away and one that I will be glad to pass down to my family for future generations. I was a part of something very special. For that I will always be thankful. Congratulations for being blessed enough to share such an experience yesterday and for being able to tell us about it. Good to know that the emotion all of us felt yesterday was as raw in the building as it was in our homes. One question: Were people in Staples made aware that Michael would actually be there? CNN only told that the motorcade from Forest Lawn was happening with about, what 3 or 4 hours to spare. Just make sure that you keep the tickets, wristband and program somewhere safe. I think your kids will want to see them someday.

The few people I did talk to didn't know they were bringing his body to the memorial. It kind of shocked us all. There was a couple in the row ahead of us and the girl was tearing up constantly throughout. When they brought the casket in, she just broke down completely.

I'm not surprised. What were people like when Paris took the microphone? From the people I watched it with, as soon as the microphone was being adjusted down, we all just looked at each other like "Oh, I am not ready to hear this", and we were right, I broke down hearing her. Most emotional part of the broadcast, so what was it like inside?
Also, has anybody heard anything of ratings yet? I know it seems slightly strange but it will be interesting to see how many people actually watched it.

Good lord! I was just on the Transformers Wiki (tfwiki.net) and look at the banner ad I saw: Epic fail! Yeah, but does it honestly really surprise you? I've heard some unbelievably crass and cruel jokes and/or adverts dealing with MJ. It seems these people have learned NOTHING from yesterday. As Tom Servo said once: "Mankind... you make me want to vomit."

Good lord! I was just on the Transformers Wiki (tfwiki.net) and look at the banner ad I saw: Epic fail! I can just imagine the conversation between that Person #1-Ok, we need to sell our soap...but how? Person #2-Perhaps we can link it to current events. "In a world that has grit and grime, use..." Person #1-MICHAEL JACKSON! Person#2-What? Person #1-DO AS I SAY!

When I started watching it yesterday, I didn't think I would even shed a tear. But the moment they rolled his casket out, I just lost it....I can't even imagine how it was inside the building.
