Holy f***ing crap!!! What a huge pop for the spear!! And a huge pop for Goldberg winning the U.S. Title!!
I read that Raven told the fans to throw him back to ringside, but who cares, that was such a cool visual! And Goldberg jackhammering Reese was sweet!
Man, I haven't seen this match in years. I hate it that Raven only got a one-day title reign, but Goldberg was red hot at the time and having Goldberg win the belt was clearly the right thing to do.
Not to knock WWE, but the last time I saw a WWE crowd that was this hot was Rock/Hogan at WrestleMania 18. WCW had some awesome crowds in early-mid 98. They were hot for everything: Goldberg, DDP, Sting, even Dean Malenko's unmasking at Slamboree 98 got an enormous pop from the crowd.
Good stuff.

I do remember seeing this match. It wasnt a great match. Typical short Goldberg match but it had a lot of mark out moments. Tony S. getting way too over hyped/excited was rediculous. Oh and I hated the whole Goldberg streak thing.

Loved this match immensely and the crowd marking out like crazy helped it as well.
I miss those days.

I don't get it. At all. It's kind of a small horse, I mean what am I missing? Am I crazy?

Loved this match.
Goldberg was a beast that night.
Easily Raven's 2nd best match in WCW (The Fall Brawl match with Saturn being his best, IMO)

Raven deserved to have a longer run with the US title

Raven deserved to have a longer run with the US title Agreed. They really should have built a Raven/Goldberg match for the following PPV

This was great. Raven was a great heel at the time; his cult leader schtick made me hate him so much. Am I weird for missing Goldberg?

This was great. Raven was a great heel at the time; his cult leader schtick made me hate him so much. Am I weird for missing Goldberg? It's funny now, but when the Wrestlecrap board first formed, it seemed the majority of its members mocked me for gushing about how Raven was one of the things I most liked about WCW (and yes, I still made it clear that as much as I liked WCW Raven, the company was by no means using him to his full potential).

I loved this match.
I remember watching a Raven Shoot Interview where he said he remembers going over the spots with Goldberg, and said he was gonna hit him in the gut with a baking sheet or something, and said to Goldberg "But you've really gotta sell it, double over like you're about to throw up", and Goldberg said "But I wouldn't sell it in a real fight", and Raven said he threw his hands up because he couldn't get through to the guy.

Well, for once, Goldberg made sense. Never did understand the baking sheet spots.

I still don't think it beats the pop at Halloween Havoc that year when DDP hit the Diamond Cutter on Goldberg.

It wasn't a baking sheet spot specifically, it was just him trying to teach Goldberg about selling and Goldberg saying 'I wouldn't do that in a real fight, so I'm not doing it in a fake fight', even though the whole point is to make it look like a real fight. Oh, and this match ruled the immediate solar system.

All I remember was Raven simulating the selling of the gut shot teaching Goldberg how to sell it. Didn't Raven also say in that same shoot that people come up to him and tell him that was the best match Goldberg ever had? Or did Raven himself say that in his opinion it was the best match Goldberg ever had? I don't remember...but i'm gonna pull the shoot out and watch it again later.

I seem to recall him saying he thought it was the second best match Goldberg ever had, the best being the match with Page. I know his match with Rhyno at Backlash like 7 years ago or something he did say he thought was the best hardcore match ever.

He also no-sold a Stop sign.

I think this was an example of Goldberg being booked at his best, and that Raven and the Flock put him over like all hell. I hope he appreciated that.

at the time i HATED this match as Raven mark from ECW i just saw him as being fed to Goldberg who i really hated, but looking back it makes sense....it hurts to admit that
