I don't get him. He's somewhat interesting, but I don't really see him getting past the upper midcard. Here's why: -His lisp, I know it's not a huge deal, but it does mke his promos considerably less intimidating. -His look, he looks to me like he belongs in an abercrombie and fitch catalogue, not a last man standing match. And his wrestling gear looks weird too, like the cute kid at a wedding wearing a suit that's three sizes too big, because his mother says he'll "grow into it" -He's awkward in the ring. He reminds of those guys that are a bit too big for their bodies and sort of lumber around. I'm expecting him to trip over his feet at any minute. I know everyone here views him as a can't miss prospect but i've just never seen it from day one. Also, He's a dork Convince me

His wrestling work looks pretty good to me, but I also don't think he has a very good look and his speech impediment does effect his promos in my view.

He's kinda awkward. He's alright in the ring, but sometimes his in ring stuff bores me (MVP for example). Sometimes I wonder what he has that say Chris Masters doesn't (besides a powerbomb).

I like Swagger but man he looks dumb as hell when he does his little monkey dance intro.

I'm in the same boat.
I think he's awkward all around. He's got a "look" to him..but it's not one belonging to "The Guy" IMO. Maybe if he had longer hair? I dunno. Don't like the singlet. I feel the lisp only adds to the awkwardness of it all. In the ring, he really doesn't impress me. He's a strong guy. Nothing ...stands out to me about him.
Could he have a long career in WWE ala..Kane? Sure. Maybe. But I don't see him as anything remotely exceptional.
(Except his music, which is awesome)

I thought the exact same things about Kurt Angle when he debuted, so I won't judge Swagger's future. However, I do like what I see right now.

I like him actually, i see a bit of a young Kurt Angel in him- ie a heel that is so technically sound that he can win his matches cleanly and still remain heel. He's sound in the ring is FAR more entertaining than any of the main eventers right now AND looks like a legitimate threat to anynoe- remember his match against Cena???

I also like his 'monkey dance', yes it makes him look more jock douchey, but that's what I like about it.

Well with a good heel, face, or any other type of personality making any of those flaws such as his lisp into a hallmark of his persona is part of the equation.
I think for me the fact that he already has both a pretty decent skill set in the ring as well as a good grasp of how to sell ring psychology this early on is extremely promising.
Plus his name is Swagger. How cool is that?

I don't think his music fits him at all. Why would an "All-American American" have music that sounds like Rage Against the Machine?

He might turn out nice in the future, but right now he's a "meh" at least for me.

I agree, but then again I thought the exact same thing about Brock Lesnar when he debuted (his whole "wrong head on the wrong body" deal).
Of course, they gave Lesnar a monster gimmick, whereas "the All American American" flat-out sucks.

I don't think his music fits him at all. Why would an "All-American American" have music that sounds like Rage Against the Machine? My theory? It makes since. Rage Against The Machine is/was primarily listened to by a.) disenfranchised anarchist types who needed funk infused rock to listen to while smoking marijuana and plotting to overthrow the G8 countries, and b.) college frat boys who just happened to miss whatever message was in the music but liked it anyway. It works, in a weird way. *kindy ignore any assumed generalizations, I actually like RATM and their fans

The fact that you think hes sluggish in the ring, ruins all credibility, in your little shoot.

He needs a manager. Look Lesnar had all the talent in the world, but Heyman made him when started.

Plus since I like Rage, anything soundalike I'm gonna dig as well.. and again, it seems to fit his whole douchey character.

1. Lisp issue. Two of the three future legends in this picture would like to further dithcuth the ithue with you. 2. Dorky look issue. This man debuted with an entire gimmick based around a) being a dork, and b) being a top-flight amateur wrestler. And it got over huge. It's true. It's true. 3. Wrestling issue. An amateur background is invaluable to a potential pro wrestling. But it also is difficult to transition from the moment-to-moment chess match/instinct pairing to the psychological build of a pro match. It's taken Shelton Benjamin, Charlie Haas and Dolph Ziggler quite a while to make it look fluid. And Swagger came in a lot quicker with a lot less experience than many other amateurs have. So it's no surprise that some people don't find him as fluid or dynamic as other wrestlers.
