Back in the awesome 03-05 days of Velocity when Josh Matthews was the play by play guy, every week when Akio (Jimmy Yang) was wrestling Matthews would refer to him as a Korean film star who had been in such movies as "The Flying Elvises" and "The Jung Dragons". Josh is the man. I loved Velocity but rarely got to see it. I'm gonna have to dig around for some footage of it after hearing that, sounds like it was a fun lil' show all round.

One of Marcus Cor Von's first matches was against Cassidy Riley, where he used the Pounce to get the W. Could've sworn I was watching TNA for a minute. Not really a "nod," but interesting nonetheless. However, Cor Von would go on to be known as "The Alpha Male" in WWE, a name he had in TNA.

Heh. Just been watching the Paul London vs Akio series on Velocity. In one of the matches Josh refers to them wrestling "in that impact zone, inside that ring".

I remember the announcers saying that Gail Kim was making an "impact" upon her return. Now, if this happened maybe once or twice then I would've written it off as coincidence, but they did it for weeks. Didn't they also refer to Gail as "a real Knockout" on their website?

One time when Trish Stratus was still new, she came out with Test and Albert and said "This is TNA!" That was about 3 years before TNA had even started, so the only rational explanation is that Trish could foretell the future.

I loved that his debut match was against Riley, because you could see that exact same match about a year ago on Impact. Also, Cor Von used the Pounce, but finished him with a Russian legsweep/rolling armbar.

Hm. Come to think of it, R-Truth using a version of his TNA theme might count. I thought of that to. And I think Coach made a comment about TNA that was edited out of a press conference.

Isn't R-Truth's theme the exact same one as his TNA theme since he's the one who produced it?

I think Todd justs hates people who take advantage of him in a live call in format. This leads to us complaining about how WWE then will take away things like Byte This when it was our fellow Forum Members who caused the ruckus to begin with.

Thats pretty damn funny

Side note: The referee for that match was Mike Posey, who was one of the first referees TNA had signed on and was a regular ref there for 4-5 years.

"Hey Todd, I just wanna say I love how you dodge the questions about TNA like you dodge the women!"
"I don't dodge the women, they dodge me! And then he hangs up and dodges me, thanks for that."

I like Todd Grisham so much more after watching Byte This. I've seen every episode and he gets way to much shit

"I don't dodge the women, they dodge me!" That's...not really much better.

Best part about this one was Mick Foley was sitting next to him, and the episode aired right as Mick was making his TNA debut.

From the Smackdown vs. Raw '09 Strategy Guide:
"With only a pair of Struggle Submissions and a low submission stat, no one will mistake Umaga for a submission machine, but his Lock Pick ability can get him out of practically any hold."
Not really "on-air". Interesting, though.

I remember the announcers saying that Gail Kim was making an "impact" upon her return. Now, if this happened maybe once or twice then I would've written it off as coincidence, but they did it for weeks. It was Tazz. Well Cole said "Gail Kim making an Impact" and Tazz then said "yeah and speaking of impact, Gail Kim here, with some Non-Stop Agression" I know the Non-stop thing is clutching at straws, but you knew what he meant. Also, not really a nod, but a bit of a steal. TNA had that big build up to the Angle & Joe vs Team 3D match where the World Title, X-Division Title and Tag Titles were all on the line - and then - for no reason what-so-ever, there wasn't any build up or mention the previous week. I think it was either the week before or after the TNA PPV; WWE's RAW main event was pushed as an 'All Champion' match with WWE Champion, Women's Champion and Tag Championship all in one match. No titles were on the line, but I remember Cena tagging with Candice I think. If anyone can remember this match do fill in the blanks. Not much was made of it at the time on here.

I can remember Cena teaming with Candice, but I can't remember who the tag champs were. Tempted to say Cade and Murdoch, but that's mostly just a guess.
