Can't have Cena appear damaged. He doesn't sweat, and his hair is too short to look wet. How effective it was for Bret and HHH to look tired when their hair started getting really wet with sweat. Cena looked exactly the same upon winning as at the start of the match.

I think they made the right call. I've watched a few 1 hour matches, and I don't remember many of them where one of the guys gets cut 5 minutes in, lol. Doing a match that long is tough enough as it is, let alone bleeding for 55 minutes.
However, Cena was also going to blade last month as well (as seen in a botchamania video where Cena on camera dropped a blade). But yeah, after the crowd thing, they should have had Cena get some blood again for the drama, maybe around the 40 minute mark. Maybe have the paramedics come over and Cena completely refuses medical attention.
Also, if they are so uptight on blood, then how come Randy Orton went out there and committed attempted murder when he was going to blow up Cena with the pyro. I think that's a little worse then a cut on the head.

Yeah. Don't protect your wrestlers Vince. That's too PG! Let him bleed for 40 minutes! In the words of Good Ol' J.R.: "This ain't ballet!" But I suspect this was about protecting Linda's run for Senate more than anything else.

It was the right decision but I think them trying to rush in the ring mid match was a mistake, waiting for a fall would have been better as that was already designated recovery time, luckily Cena seemed to realise that.

They made the right call. Cena bleeding for 40+ minutes without attention could have resulted in disaster.

I thought this would be about some legend where if you say "Bloody Cena" into a mirror 5 times, he'll show up behind you to overcome the odds. awesome.

If what I believed happened, which is Cena bleeding then them making up the FU/RKO double pin on the fly, then it was completely worth it and awesome

But it wasnt the fact they're being all PG its the fact that no matter how big and strong you are if you're gushing blood for 50 minutes without being attended to you ain't gonna be in a good state PLUS with the crowd spot too WWE would have been in big trouble.

About all these HIAC blade dropping things: Hasn't it been discussed and agreed on that it wasn't a blade, just one of his stupid dogtags?

Putting aside the issues of safety, the most pathetic thing about the incident was when, on commentary, Lawler said they may have to stop the match due to the loss of blood.
WTF? Lawler used to bleed more than that in his promos! Why would he say something like that? (Yes, I'm aware Vince was likely in his ear, but still)

Lawler used to bleed more than that in his promos! Why would he say something like that? (Yes, I'm aware Vince was likely in his ear, but still) Because it's an Ironman match and he still had fifty minutes to go. If they had let him go even another ten minutes, he would have lost so much that someone would have had to step in. I don't think he meant "stop it altogether, send everyone home" - just stop it temporarily so he can be dealt with; which did happen.

This is why guys should stay away from stiff shots to the head with television monitors while working an Iron Man match. Especially in todays TV-PG "Linda McMahon running for public office" family friendly WWE landscape.

Wasnt the WWE PG in 1997? With all the blood, cussing, and DX? Yes, but everyone knows that all parents in 1997 were incompetent and terrible parents who were Gen-Xers, making them the children of the self-indulgent baby boomers. we haven't had competent and concerned parents like we have now since 1876!

I'm pretty sure WWE was TV-14 then.
