I was watching Hogan vs. Warrior on Hogan's DVD Anthology and Warrior's entrance is almost muted. You hear his theme music but the crowd pop [which was huge] is really turned down to zero basically. Meanwhile the huge pop Hogan got when his music hit is still intact. I guess whoever edited the DVD wanted to give the impression that Warrior wasn't nearly as popular as Hogan. A bit biased to say the least.

It wasn;t that long ago the released the bury job of The Self Destruction Of The Ultimate Warrior. It;s a pity fans of today will never learn how close Warrior was to becoming the next Hogan (of the 90;'s) and how popular he was back in the day. Among other things thanks to WWE. Warrior was awesome back in the day and was super over. The amount of editing does to their DVDs and releases it;'s not even close to a true portrayal of what truly happened at those events (editing every thing from crowd reaction to music to even the commentary and everything in between) Much better of buying VHS IMo if you want older wrestling not these chopped up sets they like to release now. Or watch the old stuff on the net and don;t put money in to WWE pockets.

I felt sorry for the Warrior for getting such a poor response from the audience. Then I looked at Warrior's entrance to the match via youtube a while ago and realized his huge entrance pop had been muted more or less completely. Also I'm actually surprised the match was on Hogan's DVD since Hogan lost.

I feel every fan of wrestling at some point should view this match because it is one of the best ever like it or not. Yes well that's a bit obvious pal. I guess despite my criticism [but justified criticism nonetheless] it shouldn't stop anyone from viewing this match up. Technically not great at all but the atmosphere and emotion in this match are something to behold. But I'm sure everyone here has already seen the match numerous times.

The match was not techincally great but it was never aimed to be that at all. It was aimed to be the biggest match for the WWE at that time and make the most money and did it both.

It was a great match and really showed Hogan and Warrior don;t have to be 'carried' to have a great match. It was one of the best of both of their careers. I;ts little inconsistences like this however I don;t really think about (I don;t think a lot of us do) until someone points it out to me. They were "carried" by Pat Patterson. Yep, didn't they both practice the match move-for-move several times under the watch of Patterson? Imagine if the WM 6 match was more like their Halloween Havoc match?

I never liked Warrior. Even as a kid I disliked him and he was always a heel to me.
That said, this match was great. EVERYONE cared about it at the time and it was a topic of conversation amongst people in the same way you will hear people talking about the Super Bowl. I have never seen anything like that since. I am sure Hogan vs. Andre was probably similar but I was too young at the time to know anything about that.
It was also a great match, I remember loving it as a kid even though I was a huge Hulkamaniac at the time and hated that Warrior won.
Despite my dislike for Warrior and the fact that I think he was an awful wrestler, I still do not like how WWE take jabs at him every so often and do things to undermine his career. Its not like it was his fault Vince decided to push him. He was hugely over.
While watching the Warrior DVD I got some laughs out of it, but it was really petty. Things like making fun of his interviews as if almost everyone else at the time wasn't giving the same nonsensical, over the top promos in WWF. Also, pointing out what a bad wrestler he was as if he was the only musclebound stiff in history to get a huge push in pro wrestling.
The man who played the Ultimate Warrior might be a lunatic and a douchebag but the character of the Ultimate Warrior was hugely over. I wish WWE would just admit that and give the guy his due rather than lying all the time.

Besides Hogan was due to start filming SUBURBAN COMMANDO and had to drop the title one way or another. When one considers that Hogan admitted to trying to steal Hellwig's thunder after the match the fact that he cleanly put him over is tainted. When did Hogan say that?

When one considers that Hogan admitted to trying to steal Hellwig's thunder after the match the fact that he cleanly put him over is tainted. When did Hogan say that? Both in his book and on the DVD. Basically him taking the belt and giving it to Warrior was unscripted (He was just supposed to shake hands I think) and was done so people would remember him and take the shine off the Warrior.

The difference for me about this match compared to the Andre match is that with wm3 you pretty much knew Hogan was gonna win. With this it was the two most over guys at the time with the superhero style gimmick (Though Warrior did have argubly the best entrance music ever) it really was a 50/50

They were "carried" by Pat Patterson. Yep, didn't they both practice the match move-for-move several times under the watch of Patterson? Imagine if the WM 6 match was more like their Halloween Havoc match? They both still had to go in the ring and wrestle the biggest match of that period and one of the biggest matches in WWF history and draw one o0f the biggest audiences in Mania history. Both them still had to create the atmosphere and they both had a great match practice or no practice so called 'carried' or not. It should put rest to the myth that Warrior and Hogan both have to be carried to have a good match. The main problem with the Halloween Havoc match is yes they did not have it all planned out but both men were well out of there primes Hogan couldn;t even have a decent match with Piper or Savage by that po9int men who he had legendary matches with when he was in WWF. It was 1998 and both men were well past there prime also Warrior was on his way out of the company (unlike when he was in WWF trying to make a name for himself) and both mens 'hearts were just not in the match'. There is no way they could have came close to topping there Mania match in any case (IMO) Also with the dubbing down of the Warriors entrance and making Warrior basically look like an unpopular asshole on Hogans DVD (even although Hogan lost the match) makes perfect sense. it would be different if they had left his aviation at Mania in. As it would make him look equal at that time to Hogan. It was another Warrior 'beat down' by WWE. Also I loved the Warriors promos and the energy he projected he was immense and did have a few really good matches in WWF (most notably with Savage, Hogan and Rude) but he was a wrestler who did need the right person to work with. He was one of a kind and there will never be another one like The Ultimate Warrior! Warrior VS Hogan WrestleMania 6 it was the dawning of the 90's and an excellent match and also one of my faverioute of all time

The funny thing about Hogan is the matches he's respected for the most are probably his 2 most famous loses, Warrior and Rock
