Here is what I think are the top 25 teams. 1. Florida Gators 2. Texas Longhorns 3. Alabama Crimson Tide 4. TCU Horned Frogs 5. Cincinnati Bearcats 6. Boise State Broncos 7. Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets 8. Ohio State Buckeyes 9. Pittsburgh Panthers 10. LSU Tigers 11. Oregon Ducks 12. Oklahoma State Cowboys 13. Penn State Nittany Lions 14. Stanford Cardinal 15. Wisconsin Badgers 16. Iowa Hawkeyes 17. Virginia Tech Hokies 18. Clemson Tigers 19. BYU Cougars 20. Oregon State Beavers 21. USC Trojans 22. Miami (Fl.) Hurricanes 23. Utah Utes 24. Houston Cougars 25. North Carolina Tar Heels Not that I'm bitching at this point, because it doesn't matter... But you ranked Iowa behind two teams with identical 9-2; 5-2 records that they beat handily on the road. My Top 25 would be *drumroll please* 1. Florida 2. Texas 3. Alabama 4. Boise State 5. Cincinnati 6. TCU 7. Georgia Tech 8. Pittsburgh 9. LSU 10. Oregon 11. Ohio State 12. Iowa 13. Penn State 14. Wisconsin 15. Oklahoma State 16. Stanford 17. Virginia Tech 18. Oregon State 19. Miami 20. USC 21. Brigham Young 22. Clemson 23. Utah 24. North Carolina 25. California

ESPN reporting Urban Meyer interested in the ND job. Well, I will be mad if he leaves, but I will understand because next year is a guarenteed year where we will not be competing for the National Title.

ESPN reporting Urban Meyer interested in the ND job. WHY? He's got a good thing down in Gainesville. 2, maybe 3 titles of his 5 years there. The #1 undisputed football program in America, every high school jock would bust a....yeah...if Florida at the last showed interest in them. I remember when Pete Carroll during his 2 title sweep openly mused about going back to the NFL. Then he realized why screw up a wonderful thing? In the NFL he was an average, better than average coach at best. In college, he's a titan. And in Hollywood. OK I get it, Meyer is a ND alumni. What an ego boast: Former Fighting Irish goes back "home" to save the day and bring back glory to Knute Rockne, Paul Hornung, Rudy, Tim Brown, and so on. I just don't think ND is worth it. They have stricter guidelines regarding recruitment compared to say Gainesville. Point is Urban, don't let the same thing sucker Weis down there at South Bend. Remember when Weis was the offensive genius?

Remember when Weis was the offensive genius? On the other hand, you could argue that Urban in Florida has no where to go but downhill(especially if the Gators win the National Championship this year). And in the profession of coaching, it definitely is a "what have you done for me lately?" style of situation, and you better believe a guy like Urban wants to leave on his own terms. You also throw in that going to ND and trying to turn them into a force again would be a challenge, and the alumni factor that you brought up. Will it happen? Eh, I don't really see it, but it no where close to being out of the realm of possibility.

True. Oh knows, maybe it will happen.
I mean hell, look at Alabama before Saban came there. I remember the popular CW being that the SEC was too tough, that he can't break the gridlock and stand out and lose out on the recruits.
Yeah. Remember that?

If I'm not mistaken his contract has a clause that he can leave and go to ND also you can't forget that he was the WRs coach at ND from 96-00

Notre Dame would be lucky to have him. People like Tony Kornheiser can slurp ND all they want, but aside from the national brand name they are in football, on the field they've meant jack s*** for years now. Even when they (undeservedly at times) get in to a BCS Bowl, they Ohio State it. It isn't the late 90s for Kentucky basketball anymore, it isn't the early 2000s for Duke basketball anymore, and it isn't ... well, ever for Notre Dame football anymore. It isn't the school kids are chasing, it's the school having to still chase kids and wave their history and TV deal in their faces.
A rebuilding year at Florida for Meyer would still be 9-10 wins and a shot at a BCS Bowl. Rebuilding ND, who knows. I'd never leave Florida were I him. If he does go though, I do think he gives them one of the best shots to get things back on track.

If I was Meyer I'd express interest in the ND job for 2 reasons.
A. If he actually wants it, why not.
B. To sucker a couple more million out of Florida to keep me there.
It's a WIN/WIN for Meyer to show interest.
