Impossible/Never is a harsh finite word, but because of current circumstances and evolution of industries and sports, some records indeed won't ever be demolished, much less matched.
Cy Young's win/loss record? No way. Pitchers aren't allowed to pitch as ridiculously much as Young's generation had to. Nevermind that same time period, the idea of relivers/closers...yeah haha to them.
Karem Abdul Jabbar's American pro sports record 6 MVP trophies might be untouchable too. I mean if Michael friggin Jordan couldn't match that, who in the NBA could?
Or April 4, 1964 when the Beatles didn't just have the #1 American single ("Can't Buy Me Love")...but the Top 5. Nevermind that #1 had knocked off "She Loves You," which previously knocked off "I Want to Hold Your Hand." All Beatles tunes.
With the industry today concentrated on the album and not the single, or Top 40 over the disc...and unless I'm wrong, groups/act space out their singles schedules.
The closest I suppose in modern equivancy. was right after Michael Jackson died, and the Top iTunes 100 flooded like Noah's Ark. Not the same really, but hey its that sort of sales pandamonium.

Johnny Van Der Meer's 2 straight no-hitters.
To break it, you would have to throw three straight no-hitters, which will never happen.

Yeah, Cy Young and Pete Rose both have career records that will likely never be touched unless I, Robot happens. I'm pretty sure Nolan Ryan's career strikeouts is going to remain untouched as well.
Sammartino's 2803 day title reign in WWE. That's over seven and a half years. Even Hulk Hogan could barely do over half that (1474). The long reigns since then (Cena, Savage, Hogan and Diesel) have all been around a year. Even if HHH ends up running the company, I don't buy it being broken.

I'd suggest Joe Dimaggio's 56 (corrected, thanks) straight games in which he got a hit streak.
Perhaps Wayne Gretzky's most points, assists and goals in an NHL career. People don't score as they used to.

I'd suggest Joe Dimaggio's 57 straight games in which he got a hit streak. It's actually 56, but I agree that it'll never be broken

Rickey Henderson's 1,406 stolen bases will probably be safe for a long, long time.
And crummy a record as it is, Bond's 73 homers in a season will likely stand for a long time. Even with tiny stadiums, we seem to have moved back to the era when a guy hitting 45-50 is the high water mark.
