I seriously considering getting one but what ultimated sealed it for me was the whole control issue. See, I'm not a fan of the motion controls at all and I checked to see which Wii games could use the classic controller and unfortunately I found them to be few and far between. Most of the games I wanted seem to require the motion controls and that was a bummer for me to find out. If you could have the option to use the classic/gamecube controller for every game then I would of been sold but I cant see buying a Wii just for the VC.

Dude, a game doesn't need to use the classic controller to not need motion controls. They could just use the Wii-mote + nunchuk set up and not use motion. And really, it isn't even a big deal. Most games that use motion only use one or two gestures. Like New Super Mario Bros Wii, the most you'll use the motion for is spin jumps.
You're seriously missing out on some of Nintendo's best first party games in a LONG time. Easily better than their GameCube offerings, at least.

Mario Kart Wii > Peoples pathetic attempt at being in the army or being gangsta's.
Believe, I've tried both.

It only seems awkward cause it's not like the normal controller set up, but once you have a couple of tries with it, it starts to feel pretty instinctive I found

Good choice. Honestly there really is nothing on the horizon for the Wii right now.

Good choice. Honestly there really is nothing on the horizon for the Wii right now. Well I was interested in Silent Hill Shattered Memories, FF Crystal Bearers, and Capcom vs. Tatsun. but unfortunately 2 of those 3 dont allow for the classic controller to be used. I only know one person who has a Wii and I didnt like it when I played it but theres still some games that caught my eye.

There are some really awesome games on the Wii that you're missing out on.
I mean, if the control style really breaks it for you that bad...well, that's not something I can fault you for. I detested the original XBox controller for that reason. Not quite on the same level I guess, but that thing was seriously huge.
Either way...yeah, gestures aren't always necessary, and the control style quickly becomes second nature.

Honestly, I love the Nunchuck+Wiimote control set up. I find it easy to just relax and play. I just went out and bought a Wii for my GF for Christmas, probably the most selfish gift ever. She wanted one anyways, but I totally see myself playing it more then her.

I use the Wiimote/nunchuck combo with Brawl and it works great for me. A few of my friends that I play against use it now too since I did it. It's to the point where believe it or not it feels flat out awkward using the Gamecube controller to play it. Same with Mario Kart.
As far as the first party Nintendo games go, they have been advertising the hell out of it but in most cases (I cant really think of one they fall short on this myself) they know when to set the motion gimmick aside for the sake of simply making a five-star game for their console. Or they leave the door open for other controllers to be used.
And I will say, everyone that says Mario Kart Wii has been simplified for casual players are the same people who think "snaking" (drifting on straight roads to get the drift boost) wasn't a cheap tactic and was part of the game. Take that argument out and they have none to speak of whatsoever.

Why did you post a separate thread to say this, when you could have posted it in the Nintendo Wii Thread.
Besides, I gave up ages ago trying to prove to people that the Wii is a great console, since they were so naive, I thought "Screw Them"

Honestly, the main thing the Wii has going for it is the downloadable content, IMO.

Actually most of the Diehard Mario Kart fans I know who hate MKW (myself included) couldn't care less about the snaking. It is the crap rubberband AI, and the fact that skill is not rewarded, but rather punished. Take a a lead for 2 laps, prepare for the last lap to be Blue Shell rape.
Seriously, the blue shell is the wort item in a game ever, it punishes the leader, and doesn't even help those who get it because they are back in last part of the pack. And while it has been around a while, the Wii game made it insane, I have been hit by 6 in a freaking row.
I dislike the game because it is unbalanced, and has no reward for being good at it.

Good choice. Honestly there really is nothing on the horizon for the Wii right now. Now you've done it. You put me in listwars mode! Tatsunoko vs. Capcom Monster Hunter Tri Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles The Crystal Bearer No More Heroes 2 Red Steel 2 Sin & Punishment 2 Mega Man 10 Sky Crawlers Fragile LEGO Harry Potter Ace Attorney Wii Ware Cave Story (geez, what's taking it so long?) Castlevania The Adventure Rebirth Data East Arcade Classics All coming out Q1. Further down the road is Force Unleashed 2 (hopefully with Motion+ fixing the gameplay) Super Mario Galaxy 2 Metroid Other M Zelda Wii Epic Mickey Arc Rise Fantasia The Grinder "Project Sora" (new IP from SSB's creator) Tales of Graces A problem I have with people on the internet is how they complain (or brag) about the Wii's lack of quality games when they conveniently ignore so many of them. No one paid attention to Little King's Story, De Blob or Deadly Creatures. No one's even heard of Blast Works. Most of the above listed games will die in retail & everyone will continue their Wii sucks stance.

Yet, when a hardcore game DOES come out, they ignore it. I mean f***, Dead Space: Extraction, a hardcore game(yes, a rail shooter, but a hardcore game nevertheless), has sold a little over 10,000 f***ing copies. TEN THOUSAND. What....the....f***?! No wonder EA is pulling back on their hardcore development. They, Capcom, and SEGA are trying their damnedest to give us non-Nintendo made hardcore games, and what thanks do they get? They get spat in the face by the very people they are catering to.

I was about to mention all the great things about owning a Wii, but Goob, Mike Strike and Koda said it for me.
Bad choice dude. The Wii is a fantastic console that gets a lot of crap for not having the latest repetitive army/gangsta/post-apocalyptic FPS/200-useless side mission game. People need to realize that Nintendo is not behind the times at all, and has a lot to offer. 2009 was a great year, and 2010 is going to be even better.
But yeah - this should've went in the Wii thread. I just bumped it an hour ago.

I dont care how many great games there are if I can not play them the traditional controller way. The Wii mote/nunchuck setup doesnt appeal at all to me, sorry. Its criminal to me that most of these games dont have the option of a traditional control pad.
