Upwords
Imagine Scrabble, but without being boring. Have "Lunch" but have a B and R? Put that B over L to make "Brunch"? Tons of more fun than that other game.

I really liked the Small Soldiers board game which included using a spinner, various cards to boost "stats", and a catapult. ![](http://images.boardgamegeek.com/images/pic78441_md.jpg)

Happy Days.
I've been looking for a copy for years at yard sales and thrift stores but no luck.
Apparently it's worth a nice chunk of change, but it's also fun as hell. You earn COOL POINTS.

Guess Who? was my favorite board game. Game cards do not actually talk.
My high school had a Diplomacy the game club. It eventually just evolved into us hanging out and had nothing to do with the game. I never actually played though.
Crossfire had a great commercial though I never did play it.

I liked Careers and Life. The Mad Magazine Game, which I found again at a thrift store, might appeal to fans of the bizarre...

Bonkers. ![](http://images.boardgamegeek.com/images/pic60228_md.jpg) Wherein you land on a blank space and place a tile to determine what that space says. I loved trapping people in loops. Go back 4 spaces. Now go forward 4 spaces. Repeat forever.

My normal games that I play aren't so much underrated as they are unheard of.
Here's a sampler: The Settlers of Catan Ticket to Ride Fluxx (and at least 3 variations of it) Chrononauts Munchkin Ninja Burger
If any of you have heard of the half of these, you have my props.

![](http://1000awesomethings.files.wordpress.com/2009/01/mouse_trap.jpg) Mouse Trap... Hell yeah! When I was a kid I could never even figure out how to actually PLAY Mouse Trap...all I ever did was put the contraption together and run it a few dozen times for my amusement. ;D This game would have been 10x better if it were a board game based on this man: ![](http://www.it-is-law.com/dump/bonkers.jpg)

Watching the Crossfire commercial again, the game doesn't look like it would be that much fun. A small little board and all but where the game fails, commercial does not. If the board played the song then I would change my tune.

I'm not sure I'd count Fluxx and Chrononauts, as they're card games.
I've also been banned from playing either of those games if my roommate is playing them, because I don't care about winning, I just care about being completely erratic.
IE : My roommate likes games of Fluxx to last as long as possible, so he created an "X=X-1" card to counter "X=X+1". I countered that by creating "Double X".
Fluxx Example 2 : Again, he likes games of Fluxx to be LOOOOOOONG. Well, he goes first and plays Love. I go second, and I intentionally played "All you need is love" Just to end the game right away and piss him off, even though he won.
Chrononauts Example : Some of the players were trying to enact the Paradox stalemate. They succeeded. My roommate used a card to prevent it. I used a card to prevent THAT.
So now he doesn't like to let me play either game.
